We were at the airport. We had just arrived in this small town called Mystery Spell. It had been a long journey but it was worth it because me and my brother would get to start a new life.

There was a reason why we chose this town for a fresh start. My brother and I were not humans. We were hybrids. We possess magical powers and we are vampires as well. I don't think that there are many hybrids in the world. I doubt there are any at all! We chose Mystery Spell because this is rumored to have Supernatural beings. Shapeshifters, werewolves, vampires and even witches.

I tugged at my brother's sleeve while looking at him with pleading eyes. "What's the matter, Lil' sis?",Aiden asked me kindly. He is not the type of brother that most people call annoying. He takes care of me like my mother used to. "Let's go! Everyone is staring at us. I feel uncomfortable...", I said cautiously looking around. Of course everyone was staring! How often do you get to see to High schoolers with skin as white as paper, golden colored eyes and ruby red lips around! My brother sensed my discomfort and we quickly hailed a taxi to take us to Mystery Spell University.

We were starting school on Monday and the Dean had asked us to come and take our schedules. He said that his assistant will show us around the campus. From there we were going to Bartholy Manor. We had take jobs there as nannies of a little girl. In return they would pay us and let us live with them. Lucky for them we don't eat human food.

We were on campus when a girl who seemed to be rushing out bumped straight into me! Because of my vampire strength I kept standing straight but the girl fell on her butt. " I am sorry. I should have seen where I was going!" the girl apologized profusely. I grabbed her arm and helped her up,being careful not to touch her skin directly. Vampires have skin colder than ice. Any human would start shivering if they touch us. The girl got up and dusted herself. She looked at us with a spark in her eyes. "Are you new here?", she asked. "Yes. Hello. I am Aiden Winter and this is my twin sister, Anna.",my brother introduced us while smiling at the girl. The girl turned a visible shade of red after seeing my brother's warm smile. "Could you tell us where is the admission office?", Aiden asked her politely. "Follow me. After we get your schedules I will show you guys around campus.", the girl said cheerfully."Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Sarah Osborne.", she said smiling at me. I smiled back. I don't know why but there was something about her smile that made me very comfortable. "So how far do you like the town?",Sarah asked me."I haven't seen much of it but......... so far,so good.",I replied while stuffing my hands in my hoodie's pocket."Hmm.......how about I take you guys to town and show you around?", Sarah asked. "Thanks for the offer but we have to meet our employers.",I said declining her offer politely. We have to meet Mr. Bartholy this evening."Who are your employers, if you don't mind me asking?", Sarah asked us cautiously. " Have you heard of the Bartholy family?",Aiden asked Sarah. Sarah gasped. I looked at her and saw she was stunned and a little scared."Are they your employers?", Sarah asked with wide eyes. We nodded."Sorry, I have to go.",Sarah said awkwardly and walked away.

I watched her go and a minute later she disappeared around the corner of the street."What the hell just happened? Why did she leave all of a sudden?", Aiden asked me staring at the place where Sarah disappeared."Dunno, Bro. But something tells me there is more to it than meets the eye.", I replied. We picked up our bags and headed towards Bartholy Manor."Did you hear anything fishy in her head which made you say that?", My brother asked me. I am a mind reader. Some vampires have one special ability apart from the advantages of being a vampire. It could be mind reading, controlling the four elements, torture gaze, electric power, telekinesis, ice power, mental shield, physical shield etc. I am different from other vampires because I poses all of the mentioned powers and I keep discovering more new powers! My ice power is more dominate compared to the other powers so I always wear leather gloves on my hands . My brother had dominate water power which meant he could control water well. I shook my head."Nothing fishy but she seemed a little scared. I don't know what is the story between Sarah and the Bartholy Family. But I have a hunch that it is not good.", I said and with that we continued towards Bartholy Manor.

After walking for a few minutes, we saw the Manor. Boy, this place is even bigger compared to our building in Forks! The house covered an area of around 10000 square feet, it had a huge fountain at the center and at the side of the Manor was a path that lead to the forest beside it. Actually, the Manor was surrounded by the forest. Good for us, we can go hunting there. Normal vampires drink human blood to survive but not us. We are scared of being monsters so my brother and I hunt animals to satisfy our thirst.

We walked towards the front door which had a handle that looked similar to a devil. Aiden knocked on the door, twice and waited. I avoid touching things without my gloves because I am afraid that I will freeze the thing in my hand. Suddenly the door flung open and infront of us stood a guy who looked around our age. He was well built, had long blonde hair that covered his forehead. He was wearing a white long sleeved t-shirt and black pants. He had pale white skin like us but a tone or two darker."Hello. I'm Aiden Winter. This is my twin sister, Anna. We are the nannies hired to take care of Lorie.", my brother said calmly. But the guy ignored him and kept staring at me. I stared back at him. He had a strange fire dancing in his eyes which I was all too familiar with. Every guy at my previous school kept staring at me with the same look in his eyes. My brother noticed this and cleared his throat."Excuse me Sir, I am looking for Mr. Bartholy.", Aiden repeated."Man, are you always this talkative? Could you please shut up?", the guy snapped at my twin. I frowned. I can't take it if anyone says anything offensive to my twin. It goes the same for him."Don't you have manners or do you just like being a jerk?" I snapped at the guy."Ohhh...so you can talk. I thought you were a mute!", the guy replied."Boy, your parents must have been really unlucky to have a brat like you for their son. Why don't you go back inside and stick a tape on your mouth? That should prevent you from talking on and on like a radio!", I sassed him. He stood there stunned while I smirked at him. I was very good at putting people in their place. Suddenly a voice came from behind the guy, which sounded furious."Drogo Bartholy! Where are your manners?! Do you keep guests standing outside the house?!", the voice said.

The blondie whose name was supposedly Drogo turned around and glared at the person who was standing behind him."Let them in. Father hired them to take care of Lorie.", the voice ordered Drogo. Finally, these guys let us in.

This is the fresh start that we were waiting for. Let's hope this year goes smoothly. I hope so.

I follow Aiden into the house while glaring at Drogo. But as soon as I stepped in the house I look around in amazement. The house looks like it was a decade old. The hallway is huge with high ceiling and a pretty old fashioned chandelier hanging from it. There is a huge staircase in front of us that goes to the upper floor. This place looks like it just came out of a fairy tale.

"Ahem!", someone clearing their throat brings me back to my senses. I look at the man standing in front of us. He has long brown hair that fall over his shoulder and grey eyes. He looks kind and composed. But what is it with his dress? He seems to be wearing a full sleeved shirt with cuffs and collars and a silk vest over it. He looks like he just stepped out of a historical drama."Welcome to Bartholy Manor! I hope you had no trouble finding the house. My name is Nicolae and I am the oldest Bartholy brother.", the man said while introducing himself . Do people still speak like that in the 21st century?He speaks like people who spoke during the 15th century, with poise and courtesy. I read his mind once to make sure he is not putting a fárcade." These two look like angels! The girl is so sweet and the boy looks matured! They will be perfect to look after Lorie!"he thought. I smiled."Hello, I am Aiden and this is my twin, Anna. Thank you for having us here.", Aiden greeted him politely. Drogo stood at one side with his hands folded and he was staring at us."I will show you to your rooms and introduce you to Lorie tomorrow. She is asleep at the moment.",Nicolae explained.

He started walking toward the stairs and mentioned us to follow him. Aiden grabbed our bags and dragged them up the stairs. We followed Nicolae but suddenly stopped in our tracks. The sound of someone playing the piano filled the air. Wow! The melody was amazing but it seemed sad. It was like the tune had a story of its own."I love the melody though it sounds sad but with a little alteration it would be fine.", I commented unknowingly."That would be Peter. I will introduce him tomorrow because you need to rest.", Nicolae said.

He lead us to our rooms which was just across the hall from each other. The oldest Bartholy brother wished us good night and left. My brother stared at him as he disappeared down the stairs. Then he turned around kissed my cheek, wished me good night and went to his room.

I entered my room and looked around. It was well furnished. It was equipped with a queen sized bed with purple bed sheets, one study table, a piano sat at one corner (which I had specifically asked for), a joint bathroom with a huge bathtub and a balcony which gave the view of the forest. I walked towards the balcony and looked out. Wow, this Lorie must be really lucky! She has a park all to herself!

I came back inside the room and closed the windows. I went over to my suitcases and started unpacking. I was stacking my clothes just as two photographs fell on my lap. One was a family photo that was taken just a few days before our parents death and another was of me and Aiden when we entered high school. I put the photos on my bedside table and sighed. I missed my parents. I was lost in a sea of memories that I made with my parents when.....

Knock,Knock. Someone knocked on my door. I was so lost in the memories of my family that I didn't hear anyone approach the door."Come in",I answered with a lifeless voice.

The door flung open and in came Drogo, with a smirk on his face."So, pretty little thing, are you satisfied with your room?",he asked."Pretty little thing? Is that my new nickname?",I asked him with an emotionless tone."Yes, I just came up with it!",he said with a grin."I couldn't care any less. Can you go and bother one of your brothers and leave me alone?", I said still emotionless."No. My brothers are boring . I want a new target, which is you!",he said putting on airs. I groaned. Suddenly I hear footsteps coming towards my door. A minute later, I hear a faint knock."Come in", I answer again emotionless. Nicolae entered the room looking raging mad. He glared at Drogo, with fury in his eyes."Go to your room",Nicolae yelled at him. Drogo shrugged and left my room."Are you OK?",Nicolae asked me worried."I'm fine",I replied smiling at him slightly. I was curious at what oldest Bartholy brother was thinking so I read his mind.

"How is she so calm? Last time Drogo did something like this, the nanny was crying and begging us to let her go.", Nicolae thought."This girl is so collected but I wonder why her eyes are so sad. I hope she finds her happiness. But from my observation, I am quite sure this brother-sister pair are not humans. They are certainly vampires but also something else, which I can't put my finger on. ", he continued in his mind.

"Thank you for being so considerate Nicolae but I'm fine. I promise." I reassured him." I know. But you are always free to come to me if something is bothering you.",he said and smiled. I smiled back and he left. I know my brother heard everything. "I'm fine Bro.",I said in my mind. I am telepathic so I can communicate with others in their minds. " OK but I'll keep an eye on that blondie.",my brother thought and with that he fell asleep. I stayed up reading a few books and I don't know when I fell asleep.

The next morning I felt someone rubbing my cheeks. I flinched and was ready to slap the person but then I realized that its just my brother."Morning Lil' Sis!",he said cheerfully."Morning Bro.",I said rubbing my eyes open and smiling at him sleepily. He pulled my cheeks and kissed me on the forehead, something that he did every morning ever since we were kids."Get ready quickly. We have to meet Lorie and Peter today.",he said as I made my way to the bathroom to freshen up. I chose to wear a dark blue off-shoulder crop top with long sleeves and blue ripped jeans, my favorite combo. My brother wore a button down blue shirt which was made of thin cotton and denim jeans.

We went to the living room where Nicolae was waiting for us. We went in and saw the whole Bartholy family together for the first time. I knew Drogo and Nicolae agreed but today stood another guy with them.

He had shiny black hair with bangs that covered his forehead and green eyes, which had a hint of melancholy in them. He was a little taller than Drogo but well built. He looked like he was lost in his own world."This is Peter. His room is right beside yours, Anna. So you can go to him if you need anything.",Nicolae said looking at me with warm eyes."Hello", Peter said politely. I waved at him a little and he smiled.

Now I turned my attention to Nicolae who held a little girl in his arms. The girl had bubblegum pink hair and was wearing a little pink dress. She had a cute face with big hazel eyes. She held a doll in her hand which looked like it had jumped out from the movie 'Annabella: Creations'. It looked horrible! It had one eye missing and it seemed to be smiling menacingly. The dress looked like it was torn on purpose and had stains of red paint which was to show blood. I smiled at her but she just stared at me in a very creepy way.

"Hello Lorie.",Aiden greeted her. She just stared at him without saying anything. I could sense my brother was uncomfortable."You are very beautiful. I love your hairstyle.", the little girl said suddenly while looking at me."Thank you Lorie. You are also very pretty.", I replied with a smile."Am I?", she asked showing us her toothy smile."Yes, you are. Did no one ever tell you that?",Aiden said kindly."No one told me that I am pretty. Do you think I'm pretty,Anna?", she asked me with eager eyes."Yes you are very pretty.", I told the little girl. She smiled asked Nicolae to put her down and ran towards us. We kneeled down to her level. She hugged us. We hugged her back. Nicolae looked at us and smiled. She told us to wait for few minutes and disappeared in the hallway.

As soon as she left, Nicolae said,"Let's discuss the elephant in the room.". I looked at him with wide eyes. Oh! No,no,no. This is not good at all! He knows that we are hiding something!

"No need to tell us. We already know", I said. The brothers stared at us."We know that you are vampires. We noticed it the moment we saw Drogo.", I continued as Aiden nodded to support me."How did you know.....? I thought we hid it pretty well. Then how...?",Peter asked looking confused."For that, Nicolae, you should really learn to control your thoughts.",I said smirking at him. His eyes widened."Are you saying that you are mind reader?", Nicolae asked with curiosity. I nodded. He looked at us with spark in his eyes.

"But you guys have to promise us not to tell this to anyone.",Aiden said."We swear.",Peter replied for all three brothers. Drogo just stood at a side with his hands crossed over his chest.

"Now that you know what we are.....we should warn you of something else", Aiden said looking at me. I nodded and stepped forward."Sorry for what I'm about to do, Drogo.", I said and looked at him apologetically. I snapped my fingers and a snowball appeared in my hand. I threw it at Drogo. It hit him square in the face. He was still processing what just happened! His jaw was hanging open and his eyes were wide. Nicolae and Peter reflected Drogo's expression."Is that snow?", Nicolae asked me. I nodded. Aiden was next. He asked Drogo to get him a glass of water. Drogo kept the glass in front of Aiden, while he concentrated. The next minute the water in the glass was spiraling in the air as Aiden controlled it. The brothers were left speechless. They just gaped at us after we demonstrated our powers to them.

"What exactly are you guys?", Drogo asked us."Hybrids", my twin and I answered together. Nicolae walked up to us and promised keep this a secret as long as we keep a low profile. We nodded and headed off.

This was something we had not expected to happen. That sure was one eventful introduction!

We were walking down the streets of Mystery Spell with Drogo and Peter to buy our year books. We played with Lorie until Nicolae offered to take over while we go buy books for classes. Peter and I were talking about music and walking ahead while Aiden and Drogo talked about video games.

We entered a book store after a few minutes. Aiden ordered the list of books needed for the year while me and Peter went to pick some literature books. I even picked a few extra books for my Myths and Legends class. I heard Drogo come behind me.

"Are you taking Myths and Legends?", he asked after seeing the book in my hands. I nodded."I hope you are not like those girls who fawn over the Professor.",he said while sulking a little. I looked at him closely."Are you jealous of the Professor?" I asked him while smirking. He shrugged his shoulders."We have taken Myths and Legends this year for a change.", said Peter as he walked towards us with a few books in his hands."Did you not take it before?", I asked while picking out books."No because the Professor kept glaring at us while talking about vampires so we dropped in the middle of the semester to avoid attention.", Peter explained.

I was too busy searching for books that I didn't notice I was about to ram straight into the owner. Luckily Peter pulled me back by the shoulders just in time but flinched as soon as he touched my skin."Why is you skin even colder than ours?!", he whispered."I told you I am a hybrid. I may be a vampire but my powers are 10 times stronger than a normal one.",I replied while looking away.

I was looking aimlessly through the titles when a certain book caught my attention. I walked over to the shelf and took it out.The title read 'History of Mystery Spell'. I flipped through a few pages and was aghast to see the amount of information in it. I took it to the counter and placed it with the pile of extra books that I chose for background reading .

"Do you those books as well, Lil' Sis?", my brother asked as I kept the book on the counter for billing."Yes for background reading. I want to know more about this town and it's history and these are extra reference books for my studies.", I said pointing to a pile beside that. Aiden smiled and shook his head."My little sister is going to remain a bookworm for the rest of her life.", he said and ruffled my hair.

We paid for the books and headed back towards the Manor. It was already evening by the time we left the store. A light breeze was blowing and sky was a beautiful shade of orange and red. My brother took out our bluetooth earplugs and played the songs by my favorite artist, BTS . I started singing along with them.

"I wanna dance, the music's got me going

Ain't nothing that can stop how we move, yeah

Let's break our plans and live just like we're golden

My brother was also singing with the lyrics."I didn't know that you guys could sing so well!", Drogo exclaimed."Thanks Drogo. These are our favorite artists!", Aiden replied as I continued to sing.

We turned off the music as we reached Bartholy Manor. The brothers helped us put our books away in our room. As soon as everyone left. I sat down at the piano and started playing the tune from the movie Twilight Saga which was supposed to be Bella's lullaby. Peter knocked on the door after listening to me play. We sat and discussed music till past midnight until Aiden came in and told me to go to bed.

Sunday went by in a blink and soon it was Monday.

Today we start our Senior year at the University. I got up early freshened up before my brother came in to tie my hair. He tied it into a ponytail while I set my bangs in place. We went to Lorie's room after getting ready to wake her up and also to get her ready for kindergarden. Once she was ready, we headed down for breakfast, which was animal blood. Nicolae greeted us and offered a flask of blood in it while asking us if we slept well. Drogo and Peter joined us soon in their school uniforms and we headed for school together.

The campus was filled with students when we got there. Some were talking excitedly while some yawned, trying to wake themselves up. We walked a bit and sat down on a bench.

"Anna! Aiden!", a voice suddenly called out to us. I looked around and saw Sarah running towards us."Good........*huff*.......*huff*........ Morning", she greeted while catching her breath."Wow Sarah did you run a marathon here? Why are you panting so much?", I asked her. "I just got excited to see you guys and ran from my house to campus.", she answered clutching the side of her stitch. She looked at Drogo and Peter and an awkward tension settled in the air.

"I want to call truce with these two Bartholys but how can I say it in front of the twins.", Sarah thought in her head. "Bro, I kept my schedule in the locker. Can you come with me to get it?", I asked my brother looking at him with cutest look I could master. He looked at my face, laughed a little and nodded. I walked off briskly and Aiden followed on my heels.

"What is the real reason for us leave the Bartholy brothers with Sarah? We both could feel the tension in the air.", Aiden asked me leaning against his locker which was beside mine."Apparently Sarah wanted to call truce with the Bartholy brothers on some matter but couldn't say it in front of us. So I made up an excuse to give them time to talk.",I replied while taking out a book."They will be here in 1 minute and 15 seconds.",I added.

Soon enough, the three of them were walking toward us with smiling faces."Told you.", I said under my breath. Aiden smiled as he heard it. We compare our schedules. Most of our classes were same except the film section. Drogo and Sarah had taken up acting while Peter, me and Aiden had music class. Our first lecture was Myths and Legends, something me and Aiden had been looking forward to.

We about to leave for the auditorium when Sarah pulled on the sleeve of my sweater and stopped me."Don't look now but Terrell Williams is staring at you.", Sarah said excitedly. The Bartholy brothers looked up as I asked Sarah,"Who's Terrell Williams?". She pointed towards a guy standing ,diagonal to us, with a few boys. Sweet Mother of Jesus! This guy looks like a Greek God! He had black wavy hair, brown eyes and an amazing jawline. Any man would die for his looks! Our eyes met and I felt a warm tingling sensation at the base of my stomach. If I was a human I would definitely have had red cheeks.He stared at me and I stared back. Then he smiled. Peter pulled me saying that class was about to start and we left.

We got to the auditorium and sat down upfront. Me, Aiden and Sarah sat together. Peter and Drogo sat behind us . We were busy talking when a guy and a girl approached us. The girl had blonde waist lenght hair and blue eyes but she had a cold air around her. Darn! Does she know how much perfume a normal person should apply?! I wrinkled my nose and Aiden frowned. The guy looked at me with a lustrous gaze. He winked at me and smiled. I glared at him which clearly sent shivers down his spine.

"Look Loan, Sarah seems to have made friends like her!", the girls said laughing and clung to the guy's arm. He just smiled stupidly."You two beauties shouldn't interact with lowlifes like Sarah and the Bartholys. Come with us you'll see what real life and fun is. I'm Samantha Guiter and this is Loan Huxley.", she said looking at us and the guy nodded. She reached out to touch my brother's cheek but he slapped her hand away.

The guy winked at me again and leaned toward me while resting his hands on the table. Just then the boy Terrell Williams entered and looked in our direction. The Loan guy moved in my direction again. That's it! I've had enough of their nonsense!

I looked at Samantha and said "Excuse me. Are you dumb or do you pretend to be? Cause you definitely don't have a thing called brain in your system which is extremely important. Can't you keep you trash to yourself? Do you have to open your mouth and spew it out at others? And do know how much perfume a normal person should apply? Just one spray. Not empty the entire bottle!". The Bartholy brothers, Sarah, Aiden and the people sitting around us roared with laughter. Samantha turned red with embarrassment.

Loan chuckled. I turned towards him."And you? You think every girl wants to jump on you because you are so manly and handsome......Well wake up! Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror? With that face of yours I doubt even a donkey would pay you any attention!", I told Loan. He turned an even deeper shade of red than Samantha. The peopled around us howled in laughter."You two are gonna regret what you just said", Samantha threatened and walked away, dragging Loan with her.

"Anna, that was absolutely fantastic! Those two are the big shots of our school. No one dares say anything to them and you just ridiculed them in front of so many students. Boy, they just got a slap on their ugly faces!", Sarah told me while wiping her eyes. Looks like she ended up laughing and crying at the same time." I didn't know you were feisty, pretty little thing.", Drogo said."Well appearances can be deceiving.", I told him with a grin.

"That was awesome what you did.", a voice said. I turned and saw Terrell Williams standing in front of me."Thanks. Someone had to show them their place. I just did everyone a favor.", I told him. He smiled."Hi! I'm Terrell Williams. You can call me Terry", he said extending his hand."Anna Winter", I said shaking his hand with my gloved one."Isn't it a little too hot for gloves?", Terry asked."Oh...aah....personal reasons...",I replied." Ohhh...OK.......I'll find you later...after class?", Terry asked looking hopeful."Sure", I said and smiled. He smiled and took a seat at the back.

A few minutes later, the professor entered carrying a stack of papers.

No wonder Drogo made that comment the other day at the book store. Our Professor was really something to look at. He had black, shiny hair like Peter. He was clearly around six-feet tall. The most captivating part was his eyes which were hazel in color. He looked at the class. His eyes paused a minute on my brother and me. But he quickly turned away as if nothing happened.

"Good Morning students. My name is Sebastian Jones. Welcome to your first Myths and Legends class. Today we will be talking about shapeshifters. Now can anyone tell me the difference between a shapeshifter and a werewolf?", he introduced himself and asked. Aiden and I raised our hands. Actually, we were the only ones in the class who raised our hands."Yes, Ms.Winter?", the Professor encouraged me to speak."Shapeshifters,from what I read, can change their appearance at will. They tend to recognize the people they know or care around them. So it is like a human who has changed his original form into some animal. While werewolves only phase during the monthly full moon and unlike the shapeshifters they cannot recognize anyone around them. So for unfortunate people who have encountered one, even if it is their friend, the only thing that will stand in front of them is a wild beast." I answered confidentially. " Absolutely correct." Professor Jones praised me. My brother squeezed my hand under the desk while my friend smiled at me.

Professor Jones asked us a few question while teaching which Aiden and I took turns to answer while the other students just stared at us. Professor Jones gave us assignments which were due Wednesday. As class ended, the Professor called out to us,"Mr. and Ms. Winter, could you stay back a minute?". We nodded at our friends to wait for us and stayed."I see you have a good knowledge on supernatural creatures. Can I ask how you know so much about shapeshifters?" he asked us. I dug into my bag and showed him the books that I got for extra reading."Wow! These are pretty high level books ,Ms. Winter. But I am glad to know that you are interested in the subject. I have high expectations from you and Mr. Winter. If you have any doubts regarding anything then you are free to ask me.", he said with a smile."Thank you Professor.", we replied together and left the auditorium. We joined our friends and headed for our next class.

Soon they day ended. We stood at the entrance, said goodbye to say to Sarah and left for the Manor. Today was certain eventful. Now we gotta watch our back because we made new enemies. Conclusion: The day passed without a disaster.

Phew! I was certain something eventful would happen. It did but just not in the way I was expecting it to! "Today was one memorable day.", I thought and continued walking towards Bartholy Manor.
