In all my years as a boss, I had never crossed that line that I crossed with Gabriela. I acted like a true imbecile, trying to prove to myself that I was indifferent to her. It was late, too late for me to realize that I liked her more than I thought, and yet, my confessions were in vain. It's pathetic to leave the woman I like in someone else's arms, and much to my regret, that feeling is not reciprocated. I suppose the right woman for me has not come yet. However I look at her, there's something I like, whether it's her gray eyes or maybe it's that way she pouts when she concentrates on her work. I have to let her go, she is not the woman who will accompany me for the rest of my life.
"Mr. Cooper, remember that at two o'clock is the interview for the girl who will replace me," her cheeks turned red as she saw how intensely I looked at her. "Her name is Jane Wilson, it's worth mentioning that her resume caught my attention."
"Very well, Jones. You'll accompany me to interview her, after all you have to tell her what the job is based on," she wrinkled her nose and reluctantly agreed to stay. These will be the last days I will see her around here.
"Yes, sir," she whispered, returning her eyes to the tablet screen in her hands.
I laughed at the stupidity I told her a few days ago, where the hell did I get the idea that she was gay? Maybe it was because of the embarrassing moment I was experiencing. Gabriela Jones will remain as a reminder of something impossible that didn't happen.
"He who laughs alone at his pranks will remember," she smiled nervously. "I'll go prepare the meeting room to receive Ms. Wilson. Permission to leave."
"Go ahead, Jones," I smiled, and she left the office leaving me completely alone. "You look charming every time you blush."
"I heard you, Mr. Cooper!" she shouted from the hallway. "Even your ears are big..."
I shook my head at the perverse thoughts that my mind was heading towards. I can't deny that I will miss seeing that large, juicy, and soft package moving around my office. I was too accustomed to her presence during the day. I suppose I believed she was mine before even having her. I focused on looking at the resume of the woman Gabriela found to replace her, but there's no one like her. Again my mind travels back to that night when I kissed her. If it hadn't been for too many drinks, I wouldn't have been able to do it. The next thing, it happened more naturally. However, the desire to possess her remains the biggest craving I've had in my life. It's like that sweet poison for the diabetic.
Damn it! I can't keep thinking about something that never happened. Gabriela and Adrian are getting married very soon, and I can't do anything about it. I walked out angrily towards the meeting room. I'm not in the mood for interviews today, or ever. The fact that my best secretary is leaving puts me in a bad mood.
Distractedly, I collided head-on with a raccoon, and to make matters worse, that person - if you can call them that - has the audacity to be so rude and not apologize.
"Watch where you're going, idiot," she muttered, picking up a folder and several papers from the floor. "Chivalry fights with the brat, doesn't it?"
"Excuse me?" she looked up. I don't know what's worse, the horrible clothes she's wearing or that makeup that doesn't suit her at all. "Do you not know who you're talking to, girl?"
Yes, despite wearing a huge dress that is not her size, she is a girl with the wrong outfit. What is a woman with no grace doing in my company? Who the hell let her in?
"Well, I don't know who you are and I don't care to know," she neatly organized each sheet and stood up. "I have better things to do than waste time with a blind and idiotic person who isn't capable of apologizing. Your egocentrism oozes from every pore, what can one expect?"
I arched an eyebrow, looking her up and down. The black dress seems to be from her grandmother. The red lipstick is dry on those chapped lips. The blue eyeshadow doesn't go well at all with that poorly done eyeliner. Does she not have mirrors in her house?
"I'll have to buy her one," I said aloud, and she furrowed her brow. The only attractive thing about her are those hazel eyes shining so intensely. I would cut off the rest of her body, keeping only the head.
"What?" she raised her voice a bit. "Anyway, I'm late for the damn interview. I don't have time to waste on a man who thinks he's superior to others."
Just as she appeared in front of me, she disappeared into the conference room. So the poorly dressed girl will be my secretary. Not happening. I won't have a defective raccoon working with me. This is a fashion company, not a circus to showcase clown shows. I walked towards the conference room, where Gabriela, very professionally, was asking her several routine questions.
"Oh, Mr. Cooper. Come in. You've arrived just in time. This is Miss Wilson," the girl turned her head towards me, and I smiled sideways as I saw her pale in a fraction of a second. I'll have some fun with her.
"Good afternoon, Miss Wilson," I sat next to Gabriela, and she nervously smiled with a face redder than a tomato. "Tell me, what would you do to present a very important fashion event? Would you dress like that or insult each of the attendees as you did a few moments ago? I want to hear in your own words why you've decided to work with us."
She stared at me, embarrassed, not knowing where to put her head. But her answer left me speechless.
"Mr. Cooper, I know we didn't start off on the right foot, but don't you think I'm right in telling you that you didn't notice my presence because you were distracted? I understand, I don't look like a professional, beautiful, and modest woman. This outfit is even borrowed," I glanced at Gabriela who was listening attentively. "I ask for your forgiveness, and I understand if the job isn't for me. You don't have to say it, just by looking at your face, I know you'll say no because of my appearance. It's normal, I made a very bad impression by coming dressed in this ridiculous way. Thank you for the opportunity, Gabriela. May I leave?"
She stood up, straightened the chair, and left us speechless.
"Keep looking, Jones. That disrespectful girl will not be my secretary."
"But she's the most qualified for the position," I took a deep breath. "You have no choice but to accept her, Mr. Cooper. I have my job too, and I'm neglecting it to find the right prospect for a secretary. Besides, there's no need to be so rude," she left the office in a bad mood. I absolutely refuse to hire a clown in my offices. Now I'm in debt.
Jane
I don't know what the hell I was thinking when I put on this ridiculous dress. I should not have listened to my sister when she told me I looked good. Now, not only have I lost a great job opportunity, but I've also made a fool of myself in front of my potential boss. If I keep going like this, I'll have no choice but to go back home to my parents and continue taking care of a production company that I miss with every fiber of my being. However, memories of that day with Connor and that girl keep playing in my mind over and over again. Even their moans and naked bodies in my ex-fiance's office keep resounding in my head, torturing the willpower I have to never go back to that place again. What else can I do? Where can I find a job? I'm tired of going through unsuccessful interviews because of my appearance, and the day I decide to change my image, unfortunate events happen with the owner of the place. I couldn't be unluckier.
"Jane, wait!" someone called out to me, and I stopped when I heard it.
"Yes?" Gabriela was almost running behind me. She is a very formal and beautiful woman.
"I want to apologize for what Mr. Cooper said. He can be difficult, but he's a good boss," she smiled sideways. "Now, the job position is yours. I have seen thousands of girls, and none of them have the experience you have. Shall we talk about the contract and what the office work entails?"
"Alright," I murmured.
I was completely shocked by what she was telling me. I couldn't believe it was for me. What made them change their minds? I wondered, following her steps into a completely different office from where we were a while ago.
"Jones, what did I say?" that peculiar man raised an eyebrow, and everything inside me stirred. He's giving me that look that makes me extremely nervous again.
"It seems I haven't been clear; remember, you told me to find her to my liking, and that's what I did. Jane will be your secretary from now on," I don't know why, but it seemed like they had some kind of relationship. The way they speak so confidently makes me think that — "Read the contract thoroughly, Jane."
He handed me a white folder, and I took it with a tense arm. Why does he keep looking at me like that? It doesn't make me feel comfortable at all.
"Thank you," my loose mouth made me say things initially that I shouldn't have. I don't want this man to kick me out of his company, I already have enough with the hateful look he's giving me.
Gabriela had already interviewed me using a computer, and she asked me everything specified in the contract. I suppose hiring staff in this city is different from a small town. I read as much as I could, and Mr. Cooper hasn't stopped observing me. His eyes burn my skin in a terrible way. It's clear that he doesn't like the fact that I am his new secretary. After signing the contract, Gabriela took me to see my workplace. She gave me Mr. Cooper's personal schedule and explained in detail each of my duties.
"Miss Wilson, come with me," the man announced, walking down the hallway, and I followed his pace as fast as lightning until we reached the building's elevator. "Let me make two things clear, alright?" he said, raising my anxiety levels even more. "First, I never want to see you dressed or made up in such an inappropriate way again. It's not appropriate attire for a secretary. You look like an underpaid circus clown. Second, the moment you make a mistake, you will be fired. In case you haven't noticed, I am not at all pleased with Gabriela's decision to hire you, but well, I suppose everyone deserves a chance. Don't waste it, Miss Wilson."
"I understand perfectly, Mr. Cooper. Can I ask something?" He nodded, giving me a sideways glance from his towering height. "If you don't agree with me working for you, why did you let me stay? After all, you're the boss, or am I mistaken?"
He lowered his head to look at me completely. Oh, mother, now I'm really done for. Those beautiful green eyes pierced into mine. His stern gaze only made my heart race a thousand times faster. I cursed my mouth for not staying quiet.
"Part of your job is not asking such stupid questions, Miss Wilson" I held my breath at his harsh tone "Get out, I don't have all day to teach you how to dress like a real professional woman."
I walked out first as soon as the elevator doors opened. His shadow passed by my side, and I followed behind him. This job will be temporary; I don't think I can endure so much mistreatment from that man. I'm not used to taking orders, but anything to save enough to get as far away from this state as possible.
"Mariela, find a uniform in this young lady's size" he ordered an older woman who approached to take my measurements "Also, remove those ugly tattoos she has on her face."
He's rude, arrogant, egocentric, with a temper from hell; what am I paying for to have these things happen to me?
"Here, you can change in the back bathroom" I nodded, taking the clothes in my hands.
"Thank you" the woman smiled kindly, and I went straight to the bathroom before the handsome-faced ogre said anything.
"How am I supposed to put this on?"
I turned the tiny skirt in my hands and shook my head. The white blouse looked way too small, and so did the vest. There's no way I can dress myself in clothes that tight-fitting, that's not who I am. Nevertheless, I took off my dress and started putting on each piece, one by one. As expected, the uniform was too tight for me. My legs were on full display, and the blouse made me show off what I hate showing, they want to burst out. Actually, I had never seen them so big, and I see my body every day.
"Are you done yet? I don't have all day, or is the uniform not your size?" I don't know what the hell happened, but when Mr. Cooper opened the door, I froze, my hands adjusting my breasts, as I didn't expect him to come in suddenly and see me in this uncomfortable situation "What the hell are you doing?"
Dereck
"Get out of the bathroom! Are you blind or just pretending?" she exclaimed minutes later, her cheeks flushed with red. Her voice snapped me out of the trance I had fallen into. Her almost naked body was in front of me, and somehow I couldn't look away from her small, rounded, and firm breasts. The brown color of her nipple sent a tingling sensation through my entire body ". Get out, idiot!"
"I apologize, but there's not much to see either" it's true. I've seen better breasts than those, so why did they make my mouth water? ". Get dressed quickly and stop playing around. Do those sorts of things at home, Miss Wilson. In the privacy of your room, not during working hours."
Her cheeks, her neck, and indeed her entire skin turned red, while her eyes seemed to pop out of their sockets. I don't know if it was embarrassment or anger. She didn't say anything, just turned around and I closed the door again with a smile that I can't even explain why it's plastered on my lips. After several minutes, she came out and I stayed there, watching her. Now she looks really good. That oversized, hideous dress didn't let me see the nice body that the well-fitted uniform accentuates.
"After all, she doesn't look so tough" I said, and she took a deep breath.
Where have my manners with women gone? This isn't me, not in the slightest. I suppose in a way I want her to quit on her own will, since I can't do anything to fire her. Gabriela made the contract for a year, a small detail I didn't read because I was looking at a woman without grace or beauty.
"Mr. Cooper, I'm going to ask you to stop making those kinds of comments and insults. If my presence is not to your liking, just say so and I will make sure not to appear before your eyes. But please, I ask for respect" she looked away ". Is there anything else about my appearance that needs to change, or can I go about my duties?" she inquired sarcastically.
"You may return to your workplace, Miss Wilson" she stared at me for a few seconds, and after nodding, she disappeared into the elevator. Her gaze showed nothing but anger.
"What is with those manners, young man?" Mariela inquired ". Tell me, did your grandmother and I teach you to treat people like that? If your mother heard you speak to a woman like that, you would probably end up without any descendants. Go and apologize, Dereck."
"I will, and I apologize, but that girl doesn't get to me" he smiled.
"On the first day of work" she shook her head ". It's only been a few hours and you already want to get rid of her, just like your father. Anyway, the collection is ready for you to organize the event. Remember, you need to send your assistants for them to get measured for the dresses they'll be wearing that day."
"I won't forget" he waved his hand and left after being called by one of the models.
I returned to my office to finalize the details for the presentation of the next collection. My thoughts drifted to those two buttons that left me with a dry throat. How is it possible that I'm thinking about the raccoon's nipples, when I shouldn't be thinking about them at all? The lack of a female body is making me hallucinate about things that I don't find appealing at all. Fiorella has left for Italy for good, and I can't deny how much I've missed her.
Jane
I wanted to hit my head against a wall. Of all the men in the world, it had to be my idiot boss who saw my breasts for the first time. I can't do anything about it, the shame is still spreading across my face. What hurt me were his words. Am I not attractive at all, even a little bit? Tears welled up in my eyes as I remembered Connor's words from some time ago.
"*You're not beautiful, you don't have any kind of appeal, Jena. You don't evoke anything in me. Alexa has what a man looks for in a woman; passion, desire, attraction, pure and vibrant beauty. You look like a boy with those baggy pants and those shirts from your brothers. Tell me, did you really think I planned to marry you?*"
A treacherous tear rolled down my cheek. That day he told me every flaw he found in me. I had never felt so humiliated in front of many of my employees, who silently mocked me. I am nobody's plaything. Connor came to me solely for money and the wealth of my parents. He destroyed my heart in his hands. Since then, I have become a woman who doesn't let anyone in, but this arrogant piece of shit has reminded me of him. They seem like the same person, same words, and the same mocking smile on their faces. Damn them.
"Are you okay?" Gabriela asked upon seeing me in front of the women's restroom mirror. "Why are you crying?"
"I'm fine, it's nothing," I wiped off all traces of makeup I had painstakingly applied in the morning. "Some mascara got in my eye."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, very sure," I smiled. "Thank you, Gabriela."
"Why?"
"Thanks to you, I have been allowed to stay in this position. Although it seems Mr. Cooper will make my life impossible. If he thinks that because he has money, beauty, and is the owner of the company, I will let him intimidate me, he's wrong about me."
"Did he say something?" Gabriela asked, shaking her head. "You can tell me, I will put him in his place. Mr. Cooper thinks he should have everything at his fingertips, but no, sir."
"He didn't say anything, Gabriela," I narrowed my eyes. "I'll go check the documents you told me about," I splashed some water on my face and dried it with my dress.
Upon exiting the bathroom, I found Mr. Cooper standing in front of my desk. His face only showed displeasure at the sight of me, or at least that's my impression.
"Miss Wilson, to my office, now," it will be the longest and most horrible day of my pathetic existence.
