Beating Hearts

Episode 1.

"Five, six, seven, eight" the dance instructors voice echoed across the room, I felt sweat forming droplets on my forehead as I performed the moves I had previously been taught.

My heart was pounding to the beat of the music I was dancing to, along with several others.

"Perfect practice guys, that's enough for today, so I'll see you all tomorrow, bright and early to prepare for the concert!"

I worked for Bight entertainment, I was a backup dancer and I mainly performed in the BTS concerts, sometimes I did others though.

Tomorrow was another concert, we had travelled to London in order to perform in the O2, I was staying in a hotel room, with my friend Da-Eun, along with the rest of the backup dancers, and BTS.

I unlocked the door to my hotel room, that I shared with Da-Eun, and found her laying on her bed, the previous dance practice having exhausted her.

"Hey!" I laughed as I threw a pillow from my bed at her, "get out of those sweaty clothes before you go to sleep!"

"Fine, but I'm keeping this pillow" She smirked as she walked off into the bathroom, leaving my pillow on her bed, I knew she'd just steal it back when I was showering, so I didn't take it.

After we had both separately showered it was about eleven o'clock, "want to watch some TV before we sleep?" I asked, but Da-Eun was already fast asleep, seriously?!

Why is this girl always so tired? Instead of watching the TV I played on my phone for a while, about five minutes later I heard voices and laughter from the corridor, it must have been BTS going back to their room for the night, they always finished practice after us.

I was surprised how upbeat they were all the time seeing how their schedule was full all day every day.

As soon as I heard Hoseok's familiar laugh heat quickly rose to my cheeks and I envisioned myself out there with him, he was laughing at a joke that I had made, his face scrunching as he laughed. If only...

I put my phone away and lay down properly, staring up at the ceiling, I was so excited about the concert tomorrow I wasn't sure if I was going to sleep at all.

After a lot of tossing and turning I managed to rest for a while, but when Da-Eun shook me awake I knew I'd need a lot of coffee to stay up the whole day.

"Come on Chaemin, we need to get some breakfast!" Da-Eun moaned as I got dressed in the bathroom, looking at my tired reflection in the mirror, I applied some makeup to look a bit better.

"Let's go then!" I laughed as I swung open the bathroom door, grabbing my phone and putting it into my pocket as we left the hotel room.

Episode 2.

We took the elevator down to the first floor of the hotel and walked along the corridor to the restaurant connected to the hotel, sitting down and placing our orders with the waiter.

As we talked and waited for our breakfast to arrive I spotted BTS come in and sit at their own table, as Hoseok pulled out the chair and sat down his eyes met mine for a moment, and I saw his eyebrow begin to raise as I quickly averted my gaze and instead looked towards the plate of food being placed in front of me.

"Eat up, we've got to meet up with the rest of the dancers to get to the concert soon!" Da-Eun mumbled whilst shoving pancake into her mouth.

Da-Eun and I ran towards the reception of the hotel, where we were told to meet the rest of the backup dancers seven minutes ago, I knew that whichever staff was assigned to the dancers would be annoyed that we were late, which is why we were running.

"Did you seriously have to have that last piece of toast?!" I shouted to Da-Eun breathlessly as we ran, "I need my energy for the performance!" She exclaimed as we finally reached the reception door and opened it, only to see all of our other backup dancer friends waiting for us.

"So why have we been standing around and waiting for you two then??" Miss Choi, the meanest and strictest member of the BigHit staff I know, stepped in front of us.

"I left my phone in my room and dragged Da-Eun to get it with me" I lied, taking the blame.

"Right then, I guess since you were so late you won't mind sitting in the back of the coach" she smirked as she flicked her hair and turned away from me, walking to the exit door.

-now I know what you're thinking, the back of the coach is the funnest place because you can laugh and chat with your friends all you want and not annoy the bus driver.

It's not fun for me though, not fun at all, because I get travel sick when we go on long journeys, and it's worse at the back of the coach.

I'm pretty sure what Miss Choi was doing was almost illegal or something, but I can't do anything to stop her.

I closed my eyes and tried to ignore the weird feeling I had in my stomach, and the sick feeling in my throat.

Da-Eun and I were sharing a pair of earphones, and she was singing along to the BTS songs that were playing.

There were only fifteen minutes left of this hour coach trip, and I was determined not to throw up this time.

Finally, the bus stopped, I stepped out last, swallowing hard to try and force the sick feeling down quicker, I knew it'd go away soon due to the fresh air though.

Da-Eun grabbed my arm and dragged me towards the huge stadium, laughing at the colossal size of it.

We'd been to many stadiums and concert halls, but this one was one of the biggest.

Episode 3.

We got to the dressing room and still had hours before the concert was actually going to begin, but first we had to rehearse all the dances and a sound-check had to be done as well, which would take some time.

I changed into more sporty clothes so that I could rehearse easily and then me and Da-Eun headed to the stage.

It was a really confusing bunch of corridors, but Da-Eun had a map up on her phone to help us find our way.

We marked all the dances with BTS marking in the front, at one point I almost lost the dance entirely when I was in awe of Hoseok's perfect dance moves hitting every beat.

We left the stage to allow the boys to practice each of their solo performances.

"The concert will start in about an hour, so we have time to grab something to eat quickly" Da-Eun assured me as we walked back into the dressing room to get some of the food she brought.

She handed me a packet of chips and an apple, we sat on the sofa and talked as we ate.

Our other friends came in and out of the room, applying more makeup and changing into their outfits for the performance, we did the same. Once there were only a few of us left I realized it was time to go.

"I'm just going to use the restroom, I'll meet you backstage" I said to Da-Eun, waving as she left the room.

I used the toilet adjoining the dressing room and then walked back out into the corridor.

I walked forward, remembering partially the way I was supposed to go, but then I turned back, "I swear it was this way?" I mumbled to myself, feeling my hands start to sweat as I worried that I might not get to the stage in time to perform.

"Okay, I bet I'll know where I am if I just turn the corner" I whispered to myself, in an attempt to calm my increasing nerves.

As I turned sharply around the corner I was knocked to the floor by someone coming the other way.

I looked up and saw Hoseok standing with his arm stretched towards me, apologizing profusely,

"N-no I'm the one who's sorry!" I took his hand and allowed him to pull me up from the ground.

He chuckled and began to walk again, "hold on!"

I called after him before he got too far, he turned back and looked at me, the light illuminating his kind smile, "Could you possibly show me how to get to the stage from here? I've been searching for ages, and I'm so lost"

There was a silence and I could see he was looking directly into my eyes, as if searching them for something.

"Sorry, yeah I'm headed to the stage now, if you're a good runner, I've only got three minutes then I'm on" He walked back to me and took my hand, it was as though a jolt of electricity ran up my arm when his skin touched mine, I'm certain Hoseok noticed it too because he raised an eyebrow and looked down at his arm.

"Uh- let's go!" He said as he began to run this way and that, practically dragging me behind him.

I began to hear the screams and shouts of the audience and I knew we were near the stage, I saw Da-Eun looking around and breathed a sigh of relief, I turned to thank Hoseok, but his grip on my hand was gone, and I heard him say,

"Got to go!" I knew I'd thank him later on though, I'd take any chance to talk to him.
