On a day bleak and nearly devoid of sunlight a knight rode to victory prepared for everything he had rushed the town gates, his goal to bring back the head of there king to his master, yet there were no troops rallied to welcome him no sign of war but why?
He looked at his men as they eagerly waited for a battle that didnt seem to be coming they looked upon each other confused and alert, finally one of his men asked him master Vincent not a single sign of an enemy attack approaches nor do we see any sign of a trap. Vincent bewildered and cautious began to speak, perhaps that is the trap a false sense of security let us rush the throne room perhaps they were not prepared for our abrupt raid of they're kingdom let us make haste and seek out the king. Quickly they rushed onward horses hooves clattering like thunder and they rammed the castle doors swords drawn and seeking the blood of the enemy ruler ready for an enemy to strike down. The enemy king looked with shock and to the troops suprise welcomed, Welcome warriors you were expected to arrive for some time but did you have to be so drastic with your entrance, his guests and there court laughed in a jovial manner. Vincent looked angrily upon being mocked by his laughter and lashed out at the king, we did not come here for merriment but you your highness we seek only your death and nothing more he draws his sword as the king's royal guard draws as well prepared to defend there king to the death Vincent saw the conviction in there eyes these men were more than ready to die for him. The king waves his hand telling them to put away your weapons and spoke, Young hero have you not heard the news? Vincent replies curiously and hastily, what news do you speak of? The king says in a happy manner, the war is over we have made peace our kingdoms have been made allies after years of war. The thoughts rushed in his head as he was close to believing this kings words, he thought to himself had this been true wouldn't his kingdom send out a messenger proclaiming such events have transpired?...his mine wandered and he finally concluded this king is lying my kingdom would have notified me sooner no I shall play along with this king and kill him when his guard is down, he looked upon his men and with just one look they knew his plan relaxing there arms as the enemy king began to turn from him ready to prepare a speech was cut short by Vincent's clean and precise strike years of swordsmanship honing his skills and abilities his whole life cut this king down in the blink of an eye his head began to slide from his shoulders rolling to his royal guard shock and terror they could not believe such a warrior existed one fell strike before they could act took the life of there precious ruler. He grabbed his once proud head holding it up before the terrorized audience he proclaimed, my mission my job was this and only this long live my master and King Aisles may this kings head be proof of our victory on this day!
He fought off the guards as they mounted a retreat they rode hard and fast taking up arms on the way out he fought defending his men as they passed the final gate and were well on the way home. Soon after they camped at the midway point between kingdoms the ride was long and tiring his men suffered few wounds and scrapes from the escape on calvary but they all cheered drank happily and proclaimed victory Vincent mounted atop a horse laid out a speech, on this day we not only fought and defeated our enemy but we did so swiftly and even without cost not a single one of my men have died in this battle and to that the victory has grown ever sweeter as for our enemies the bitterness will never leave there stained lips to our kingdoms peace! he raised his mug happily and chugged as he fell off the horse his men laughed hardily as he flopped on the floor a drunken fool the nights festivities carried on well till morning as they laid asleep drunken by not only fine ale but a victory well earned. Dawn approached the sun broke past the horizon as the light caught Vincent's eyes he awoke and realized he needed to use the restroom quickly and arose to relieve himself and ran to a tree in the neighboring forest before he could start he hears horse hooves out in the distance his men fast asleep he knew it must be someone else he ran to his horse and grabbed his weapon as he waited for the approach he heard the horses stop behind him he drew his blade only to see Marcel the kingdoms messenger he spoke hastily, dont point that at me I'm only here to deliver a message the last messenger never came back to the kingdom neither did your men he was sent to tell your men to come home and speak to the king immediately but word has it they found his body dead at the forests edge we are unsure of the cause but all I know is you must return and with great haste. He awoke his men they wake up quickly yet exhausted they mounted and rode home eager to share the victory with the kingdom and excited to see the town in excitment and celebration of the achievement this great band has performed. It was time they reached the gates of there home they rode in slowly expecting fanfare dancing in the streets and much more yet to there shock and amazement they saw no townsfolk not a breath of them he looked at his men even more shocked than before until he looked up and saw all the townspeople crowding the halls they rode in a hurry to see what all the commotion was for and they saw the king amidst the chaos trying to stave off the crowd Vincent jumped off his horse and kneeled before the king and asked him what this was about the king spoke loudly and told the crowd the party he sent out on a dangerous mission has returned as they fell silent the king spoke to him, have you heard my orders regarding your quest?
