The world has always relied on fantasy, concocted to give others hope, in different forms, like a villain turning good to save the main character-but dying in the end as a sort of atonement- a lonely middle age women finding love in a Handsome and rich guy, who seems bad but she can fix him- a hard working person getting revenge on a person who has wronged them. Fantasy’s, fiction, wishes, dreams, these are all things people have work for and hope to come true. Hero’s are another case of these things, a hope of a pure person, who smiles and just keeps smiling, through all the pain, not breaking, not lowering their standards and becoming what people think is immoral. Hero’s are a image of pure light, hope, and in all honesty, a pure scam… why, in a world where everyone has the power to become a hero of their dreams, all fall short? Is it perhaps the unreachable expectations? The continuous backlash of Civilians? Is it that no one is all pure and just? Or is it that no one can become a hero in the whole sense of the word? Or is it that the want to be a hero, is just that? A want, not a need? Not something someone would sacrifice everything for… we may never know, cause no one has tried, until today. As a little kid wishes to become a hero, confused as to why no one wants to become one, they do not know, maybe one day, but today they are still naive, and that, is dangerous.
As Cody opened his eyes, he stared at the ceiling, the hope of training harder to become a hero fresh in his heart, he’s wanted to become a hero, ever since the day his best friend died. A smoking car, burning buildings, cracked asphalt, the smog lifting into the air, screams heard, but they don’t see who’s screaming, all they can see, is Andy, laying their, no motion. Cody blinked away the memory, he doesn’t want to think about it, “ A hero always smiles!” He says chipper, restating the motto he lives by, “ I mean why shouldn’t they? They help everyone, they bring happiness and they take down the bad guys!” The words he first said when he decided to become a hero playing in his head. “ Hero’s need to smile to be seen as strong! To give hope to others! So that they know that someone will help them! Someone who has a nice and bright smile through it all!” Cody says as he jumps out of bed, he walks over to his dresser and pulls open a drawer, taking some clothes out, he hurriedly puts them on. Cody looks in the mirror and smiles, he then walks out of his room, ready to start a new day, and help some people. Cody walks down the hall of his house, he walks past the kitchen, smelling a nice breakfast he walks in, seeing his mom and dad sitting at the table. “ come sit down sport! I made breakfast!” Cody’s dad, Fred Petter says. Cody walks to the dinner table and sit next to his mom, Betty Petter. Betty smiles at Cody, she doesn’t say anything though, she just grabs a cup of tea and drinks it as she reads the newspaper. Cody’s dad places a plate with a omelette on it in front of both his son and wife, he places a third down in front of his seat. “ hope you’re feeling hungry, cause I made more omelette!” Cody smiles at his dad, his dad usually cooks a lot of food in the morning to fill up his wife’s endless stomach, Cody has a small appetite though so usually theirs more for his parents. “ thanks honey, it smells amazing.” Betty says as she kisses Fred, Cody rolls his eyes. Cody picks up his fork and starts eating, as he eats the hopes he has for the new day are playing in his mind, like helping a old person across the street, and opening doors for people, Cody wants to start small so when he starts big he has some practice. Cody sets his fork down on his empty plate, “ thanks for breakfast dad! It was great!” He says smiling, he stands up and picks his plate up to put in the sink, he walks past his mom and kisses her cheek, after he set the plate in the sink he walks over and kisses his dads cheek as well. “ I’m off! Bye!” He says as he run out of the room, he hears his parent say goodbye, as he runs out the front door and into another day, though unbeknownst to Cody, it’s not gonna go as planned.
