Last letter from my friend

*Anjelina's Point of view*

I am running in the streets.

The street lights are turning off one by one.

I am running faster and faster and trying to escape.

Suddenly, I am at the edge of a mountain Cliff.

Someone pushes me from the Cliff and I am falling...

I am looking around for someone to lend a helping hand , but there is no one here to help me.

"All of a sudden my body collides with a hard surface".

I realise I roll out of my bed with beads of sweet on my forehead and my neck.

I am breathing heavily and I can feel my heart racing.

To calm myself down, I drink some water and begin thinking about the dream I just had.

I have had this reoccurring nightmare since the day my best friend Yeva died.

She was my childhood friend. We shared everything, and there were no secrets between us.

We had so many sleepovers and had lots of fun together.

We applied to the same University for under graduation, and we were both accepted.

We were supposed to start attending classes at the same college in about a month.

But all of a sudden she left me.

She committed suicide, but I still don't know why.

She was strong , wealthy and intelligent too.

My thoughts are abruptly interrupted by the shrill ringing of my cell phone.

I look at the phone number flashing on the screen of my phone. Its Yeva's landline. I immediately answer the call.

For a fleeting moment, I think it's Yeva at the other end of the phone call. Then I remember how is that possible that would be as she is no more.

I try to hold back my tears as I answered the phone.

Me: "Hello?"

Daniel: "Is this angelina?"

Me:"Yes. who is this?"

Daniel: "This is Daniel, Yeva's brother."

(A sudden shrill passed from my spine due to the angry tone of his voice).

Daniel: "Are you there?"

Me: " Yes, Daniel Sir"

Daniel:"Don't.. don't dare to call me by my name."

( I feel frightened when I hear his base angry tone this time.)

Me: " I am sorry, sir...."

Mark: " I found a letter note from Yeva addressed to you."

Me: "What?"

He: "Yes, You will pay for this. Come to my house and collect the letter at once."

Me: " Okay Yes, sir. I will be on my way as soon as possible". I state, still in shock from his call and his tone of voice.

He hangs up the phone.

Daniel is Yeva's lovely older brother. He is 29 years old.

Two years ago, he had to take over the entire family business after their parents experience the car accident which took both of their lives.

He worked tirelessly and become a top entrepreneurs quickly.

I never really spoke to him much, but I do remember him always bringing chocolates for Yeva.

Yeva and I would share them.

*Angelina point-of-view *

I call a cab immediately after the phone call from Daniel, but I can't stop thinking about Yeva and our memories together. I can't control the tears that escape from my eyes because I will never see my best friend ever again in my life.

She left me all alone, the plans we both made for each other for our future together are gone.

I recall the phone's conversation with Daniel.

He said, "You will pay for this." What did he mean?

And about the letter, I am pathetic If Yeva mentioned anything about her suicide mystery in the letter.

The Cab suddenly stops in front of Yeva's house. After I pay for my cab ride, I literally run into her house. Its majestic and resembles a palace. I come midway into the hall and collapse as I see a small momorial with her photo and some flowers surrounding it .

There are few guests in the house attending the memorial for Yeva. The maids are serving refreshments and snacks.

One of the maid approaches me. I realise it's the maid that Yeva and I would refer to as "Nanny" which means granny in a native language.

"Sir is waiting for you in Yeva's room."

She said.

I try to ask her if she knows the reason for his call, but she ignore my question and points in the direction of Yeva's room and continues on with her duties.

I stand and wipe away my tears trying to control my emotions. I go upstairs in the direction of Yeva's room and enter her room and walked to the corner near her bed.

I stand at her bedside, looking at a photograph of the two of us on her night stand. I take a step forward to touch Yeva's face in the photograph, then suddenly someone grabs me from behind and clutches my hair tightly.

I shout in pain 'who are you?? leave me alone"

I can't move my face but I can sense the person assaulting me is a very tall man who is quite muscular. He has me pinned to the wall with his force, and still has a tight grip on my hair and looking at me.

My eyes are filling with tears and I can't control my emotions. I begin sobbing and cry loudly and try to wipe my tears with one of my hands, but before I can move my hand, the man grabs my wrist and pains it to the wall with his hand.

The engraved pearl on my bracelet cut deep into my skin where his hand is holding my wrist.

My body is so close to his heart that I can hear his heart beat racing, and my chest is about to touch his torso. All this happens in just a fraction of a time.

I raise my face to look at who has me Pin to the wall with such force !

It's Daniel.

His eyes are red with a fire that he can burn me to ash on the spot. He huffs and with his teeth clenched he states "Don't you dare to touch my sister's picture. If you do so again I will kill you"

Sobbing loudly, I screem out "she was my friend!!"

I stammer a bit.

At this, Daniel scoffs and yells at me in anger:

Daniel: "friend?! You are the reason she is gone!"

Me : "You are mistaken why would I let my best friend die? I don't even know why she committed suicide."

I try to convince him , he immediately loses his grip on my hair, my hand and the rest of my body. I fall limply to the ground. He throws the autopsy reports toward me, and they fall on the ground before me.

I am reading the reports in shok because they state that Yeva body show sign of a gang attack. I check the information on the report:

Name: Yeva

Age : 20 years

Gender: female

I raise my head to look at Daniel. I stare at him in shock and ask him "who did this to her?"

He throws an envelope at me. The letter is addressed to me, I read " Dear Angelina on the top.

I sit up straight to focus on the letter.

Dear Angelina,

I may not be alive by the time you get around to reading this.

I know you are angry at me for leaving you alone in this life but please know that you are my dearest friend.

You need to know what happened to me.

On Saturday, we had finished our work regarding the special project work for UG programme, at my house.

On Sunday, I received an acceptance letter from the college addressed to both of us. I want to give you surprise. So I went to your house and your father was about leave your house. As he walking out, he greeted me.

I asked him about your whereabouts. He said you went out with your mother and that you would be back soon. He said he was going outside for some work and that he would be back in 30 minutes.

I asked if I could wait for you. I really wanted to see the happiness in your eyes when you read our admission letter.

Anna.... you must be confused about what happened to me.... it was your step brother and he came into the house with three of his friend.

When I saw them I grabbed the acceptance letter and try to walk into your room, before I reached your room your step brother ask me what I had in my hand.

I told him that it was an admission letter for you .He instantly tried to grab the latter from my hand, judging by the look in his eyes, he wanted to rip it out.

I asked him if he was insane and tried to keep the letter away from him in a while, but then one of his friends pushed me in his direction and another friend of yours step brothers tried to touch my waist.

I turned around to warn the guys not to touch me, but then you are stepbrother reached around me from behind and groped my ******.

I got scared and tried to escape from them but I couldn't Anna.

I have tried to overcome this depression but it's too much and I can't. I am leaving my brother(Daniel) alone just as my parents did.

After reading the letter I collapse against the wall behind me for support. My mind is blank and I can hear my heart racing in my ears.

I looked at Daniel and he is standing in front of me with eyes full of rage and anger I take all my strength to speak to him and I stammer a bit when I am asking him because I am still in shock.

"Did.... did my step Brother Hadeon do something bad to Yeva."
