"Now the test is being passed out. Don't talk or I will cut your test in half". Mrs. Hall snapped.
Her eyes scanned the students for any of them that would snicker or even breathe to heavy. As she didn't find anyone, she begin to pass the test out to all sixty students. She got to one student and looked at him with a sadden look. She placed the paper firmly on his desk and walked off to the next student. Of course, He knew why she did that. He was the one who didn't get such good grades in her class. Balancing on a seventy one and Sixty nine. He flipped over the paper and looked at all the equations with a sicking look. It always made him feel dizzy as he tried to answer such questions in the little time span he had. Glancing back, the teacher was slapping down the test to the last kid whispering something to him. He looked away on time as the teacher begin making her way to the front.
"You may begin". She spoke.
Everyone begin doing their test flipping pages and erasing mistakes. The boy stared at the first question for a fat ten minutes before trying to solve it. Just as he picked up the pencil, he heard the teacher speaking over him.
"Take your time Damien. You have three days you can come back and finish, so take your time".
She walked off to another student giving her encouraging words. Damien sigh and tapped his pencil on the desk. As that wasn't helping him remember anything, he looked towards the massive windows. Five large windows were up against one side of the wall. There were no coverage since the windows were too big for it. He watched about three people rush by into the teacher parking lot that he knew was to the left. Then five students rush to the right where the student parking lot was. He wished he was that busy to be able to do things like that. But of course, he was stuck in the classroom taking a test. His eyes strayed from the window to the two doors on the left side of the classroom. One said Exit, and the other said do not enter. The last kid that opened that door was banished and not a soul have seen him again. Not even his friends.
"Are you thinking or trying to cheat"? The teacher asked.
"T...Thinking"!
She nodded and went back walking towards the front. For them to have so many students, she was fast to go speak to all of them quicker than he thought she would. He looked down at his test and randomly selected an answer before moving to question two. That seemed even more difficult than the first. A deep sigh escaped him before he skipped the first page and went to the one in the middle. He sigh once again and looked out the window. But this time, it was different. Instead of the steady movement of people, it was rushed. He could see some of them had fear across their face as they rushed. More teachers begin feeling out the building rushing to their cars. Confused, He raised his hand for the teacher.
"Mrs. Hall". He called.
"Yes Damien".
She stood and begin walking his direction.
"I know I should be paying attention to the test but, what's going on out there"?
His question made all the students turn their heads to see what was going on as well. Mrs. Hall stared rather surprised and walked towards the door.
"Remain in your seats! I will be right back"!
She left out the exit door leaving it slightly crack. Everyone begin buzzing about what was going on. Then went breaking off asking about what they had on an question. Damien smirked as they got on that topic and asked his best friend Julie what she had on the whole front. She laugh and snatched his paper off his desk and begin answering all the way until the spot she stopped at.
"Now you do the rest".
She smacked the paper back on his desk and turned away as soon as the teacher walked in. She had the look of pure horror spread across her face. She pointed towards the door breathing in deeply.
"They forgot to tell our class...they forgot to tell us just because we are in a test...everyone exit the classroom quickly".
Confused, everyone stood and made their way towards the door. Damien snatched his bookbag his mother paid too much for. Much more like twenty three dollars and sixteen scents. She remembered that price and told him each time he walked through the door asking about a bigger one. He does it just to mess with her. Walking out the door, he noticed one of the lights were falling out and flickering. Each time it flickered, it created a deepen spark inside of it. Julie caught up to him and stayed close scared at nothing since they wasn't even told why they were leaving the classroom.
"All students exit the building safely. Come on kids, this way".
Up ahead was a person. He seemed to be the one who spoke to them. They begin to quickly walked towards him wanting to see what was going on. Damien was just about to follow when Mrs. Hall placed a hand on his shoulder. Him and Julie turned around looking at her confused.
"Yes, Mrs. Hall"? He questioned.
"This way, this way both of you. Back into the classroom".
She went rushing back towards the classroom as fast as she could. Damien glanced at Julie but decided to follow her. They rushed and looked back like they both wanted to see why, and screams erupted. They couldn't see clearly due to the students freaking out and running their way as well. Julie stopped for a moment which Damien didn't notice. He rushed inside the classroom and the door shut behind him.
"Mrs. Hall what was that"?! Damien asked in a panic.
"Don't worry about it. Me and you are safe. We need...".
"And Jul...".
He trailed off as he didn't see Julie standing next to him. his eyes widen and he rushed to the door but Mrs. Hall shoved him back rather hard. He stumbled over two desk and landed flat on the third.
"No! Don't go out there"!
She locked the door from the outside and backed away as the students banged on the door to be let in. Their screams echoed as the sound of something bitting into someone flesh echoed loudly. He felt disgusted and betrayed.
"Julie"! He cried out.
"Damien"!
His eyes widen as he heard her voice. She was still alive, that's all he needed to know. He rushed forward and caught Mrs. Hall hands as she tried to push him. They fought in a stance before he flipped her to the side and grabbed the door. He knew Julie was right by the door and needed to let her in.
"Julie! Prepare yourself"!
"Ok"!
He turned the handle and yanked it slightly open letting Julie rushed in. She turned and slammed it shut crushing someone hand until it came off for the door to shut.
"Julie...".
"They are half way dead anyways! It's something killing us out there and I was next from the one behind me. Thank God you let me in". She replied shaking. Mrs. Hall stood up brushing herself off and open the second door. It was completely dark and the smell of something old and wet stung their nose.
"Shut the door Mrs. Hall"! Julie yelled.
The sound of the door cracking echoed loudly. They all looked towards it before Julie and Damien looked back at Mrs. Hall.
"You...you knew what that thing was and led them to it. Why"?! Damien asked shocked.
"Shut up and listen to me. We have to get out of here. There is no time to explain everything that is going on. Let's go".
She walked inside the dark hall vanishing from sight. Julie breathed in deeply and walked after her shaking. Damien stood there for a moment. He reached in his pocket and pulled out his phone turning on the flash. Then walked inside lighting the path. Julie and Mrs. Hall stood together waiting for him.
"Shut the door". Mrs. Hall demanded.
He did as told and walked after them as they begin to walk. Each step sounded wet and disgusting. As he flashed the light downward, he swore it was blood that they were walking through.
"Mrs...Hall". He called out shaking.
She didn't respond. Only kept walking. Julie slowed down beside Damien a little unease about where they were going. Damien slowed down even more before coming to a stop. Up ahead he could see some light which had to lead to the outside.
"Mrs. Hall"! Julie called.
She finally came to a stop and didn't turn around looking at them.
"You both see the light. Hurry up and rush to it"! She replied.
They nodded and rushed past her. Damien glanced back and stared in horror as Mrs. Hall skin begin falling off her body showing a disgusting red flesh. She screech which made Julie turn around and Mrs. Hall started rushing after them. Damien grabbed Julie arm making her run faster. His heart pound in his chest as they got closer to the door.
"Hurry up! Hurry up"! Julie yelled out.
He reached forward and slammed open the door. The light shines bright as they exit and the creature stayed inside. Julie shut the door out of breath and looked around as well.
"What the heck happened"?

"Are you ready? Did you gather yourself"? Damien asked.
For ten whole mintues, They sat at the door gathering their thoughts about everything going on. Of what happened to Mrs. Hall; if they had seen it correctly.
"Are we dreaming"? Julie asked as she held up her hand to be grabbed.
"No, we are fully awake".
He helped her up and looked forward at the now seeming calmed outside. The way their school was built was a stupid way to him. They are surrounded by trees with one way out and one way in. The way out was to the right through the student parking lot. And the way in was to the left through the teacher parking lot. The path was a five minute walk through trees before being brightly open to the city.
"Well, what do we do now"?
She brushed off her clothes and looked behind her as the creature inside screech loudly. It almost hurt her ears as she slightly covered them and walked away from the door next to Damien.
"Um...".
He glanced around and breathed in deeply shrugging. He didn't know what to do at that moment. He's just a kid rushing out of some nonsense and trying to get home. That's all he wanted to do was to get home.
"How about you walk up and tell me what you see"? Julie asked.
He glanced at her before back ahead. The way they were at; the walls of the school was covering them from seeing anything coming until it comes around the corner. He would have to walk into plain sight of everything to see what was on both sides of him.
"I don't think...".
"I'm weaker than you, you will do better than me. Please Damien".
"Ok, just relax".
Looking around, he picked up a rather heavy looking rock and walked forward. Each step he took made his heart race faster. He knew it was a way he would be seen to anything if he keeps going. But he had to, for Julie. He finally came into sight of everything and begin to relax his breathing. He looked to his left first and saw the teacher cars upside down, crashed, and some seemed still running with the doors open. But there was not one sight of a creature. Then looked to his right seeing the students cars worse. Some crashed into the building, the trees, flipped over, crashed into each other, and none of them running but doors open. In the far back, he could make out something seeming to move sluggish. He couldn't really make it out, and he really didn't want to. The better choice was easy for him to make.
"Julie..."!
He turned looking at her making direct eye contact.
"Come on! The left side is safe"!
She remained silent for a moment nodding her head. Then pointed to the right. He didn't think he should tell the truth. Doing that was risking that she wouldn't come forward to him, but stay there and want him to kill it. Something for at that moment, he couldn't do.
"Clear as well! It just look nicer and a better chance to the left"!
She nodded and begin making her way to him. As she reached, she checked herself with quick glances and nodded walking to the left a little more relax. Damien turned looking to the right and stared pale as he didn't see the object in the distance. It was completely gone from sight which was something to worry about. He quickly looked away and rushed after Julie joining her side. For then, he didn't need to alert her of what was going on. They did quick glances trying to judge what they should do. As he was just about to speak, Julie spoke first.
"There are five cars still here. We should check for any weapons and keys".
She didn't give him a chance to even agree as she walked off towards a car. He sigh and went to one as well clinching the rock in his hand. There could be a heavy chance that they was not safe just yet. Anything could be in the car, and he wasn't prepared for it no matter how hard he fuss that he was. Inside his was not a single thing. It was empty for an eye scan. He begin to search, checking the glove department, the little pockets on the back of the passenger and driver seats. Then the middle piece and found nothing but a vape.
"And they fussed at us about it". He whispered as he glanced towards the trunk.
He forgot not all cars were like his mother's. She hated waisting money on anything she didn't need. So she kept her old car even though they both knew she needed a new one. They usually pull a latch that would open the trunk. But now, he needed a key. He backed out and went to the back peeking through the back window seeing nothing. With a sigh, he proceeded to the next car. That one was still running. He could see the keys still hanging in the engine, and it placed in neutral. Which ever teacher was trying to drive off must had a struggle. The seats were scratched up from the back to the front. It looked like a massive cat decided to have fun with it. Blood was splattered on the floor and on the passenger side window. For at that moment, it was their best option to get out of there. He turned around and was just about to yell Julie name when he came face to face with a disgusting creature. He don't understand how he didn't hear it, when it was now wheezing and dropping blood from it's mouth. It's skin was blistered up and bubbling so bad he could hear it and see it hitting against the casing. It had no eyes and fingernails were longer than before.
"Julie"! He yelled in fear as he knocked himself inside the car.
The first thing he did was slam the door shut as it hit on the window. It hit five times before the sound of it cracking alarmed him. His heart pound in his chest as he tried to steady himself. He needed to see if Julie was ok. Maybe she as well was took but surprise. But he had no time as the window smashed allowing the creature to reach it's arm through towards him. He yelled in fear and forced himself to the other side opening the door. There Julie stood shaking and telling him to hurry up. They both rushed back towards the school house not sure what to do. But that plan was quickly changed as two more creature came into sight. Their heart race as they looked around for anything to help them.
"Throw the rock"! Julie yelled.
He forgot he had that rock in his hand. He was clinching it so hard that his hand was beginning to bleed. He turned around to the one behind them and threw it as hard as he could at it's chest. As it struck, it shot through it's body making it stumble back and fall. But it didn't stay down as it reached its arms around to grab anything to help itself stand.
"Come on! The car I found is safer"!
Damien followed Julie across the lot and too a car that was larger. Much more of a van of course. He got in and closed the door breathing heavily.
"Please...we can't die here".
The morning sun was now starting to fade away showing a low haze above the trees. Julie slowly made her way to Damien and shook him hard to awake him.
"W...what"? He asked blinking the sleep from his eyes.
"They are gone. But it's also getting dark". She replied.
He nodded and sat up rubbing his eyes. They were at the school a little too long. He couldn't help but think that their parents came looking for them and left thinking they were dead.
"I noticed they had left back into the school. The front doors must be open". Julie replied.
"Maybe. But for right now, we need to get out of here".
Damien opened the car door feeling the cool wind of the coming night. Julie got out as well slowly closing the door as carefully as she could. Then looked around and hurried off toward the car. Damien just watched her lost in thought. He knew he should follow, but he also felt like he shouldn't. Maybe it was about his turn to freak out and not accept everything that was going on.
"It was just a simple day". He replied as he let those words fly from his mouth.
"Come on Damien! We don't have time to spare"!
He nodded and jogged over looking around. Julie got in the driver side and smiled at him as if it was a time to joke.
"Get in Damien. We get to drive". She spoke.
"No, you get on the passenger side. This will be your first time driving not mine. So as in right now, I need to drive to get us out of here".
She complained but agreed crawling over to the other side of the car with a plop. He wanted to laugh about it, but knew it wasn't the time. She would get upset and demand for herself to drive or she won't go. But with the amount of fear running through him, he might just leave her. Getting in, he shut the door and looked at the gas hand.
"Dang, we won't make it anywhere with this". He snapped.
"It doesn't matter. Just hope we get somewhere at least".
"Yeah, hope". He replied running his hands through his hair.
He placed the car in drive and drove off to the right. He felt safe even though the window was smashed in from the creature earlier. He drove across the grass to make it to the edge faster and exit into the lane of trees. Everything was silent except for the sound of the car and the wind pulling against it.
"See, we had enough".
Just as the car hood poked out of the trees, the car jerked and tires begin to come to a stop. It made an effort to keep going as he pressed on the gas but nothing more as it came to a slow stop.
"Oh...I take that back".
They both got out and walked to the front of the car looking around at the town. It was an awful sight to see occur in the last hours. The smell of smoke was strong in the air. They could even hear crackles from a fire somewhere they haven't yet seen. Cars were crashed and flipped everywhere. Almost like the school but worse. Bodies were displayed all over the place from accidents and what they believe we're the creatures.
"M...mom! Mama"!
Julie darted forward running towards a body that was face down. He wanted to stop her just incase if wasn't her mom, but he knew he really couldn't do much about it if it was. She flipped the woman over and stepped back with a hand over her mouth. The scene was something that no one ever wanted to see.
"Nope, not my mother". She replied as she stepped back.
"Now come over here. We will get to your house soon. She have to be there". He replied.
"Ok...".
She rushed back to him as they both begin to gaze around unaware of what they should do next. Even if the car was still able to drive, they wouldn't have made it through the heap of mess in front of them. Julie pointed to the left side towards a store. It wasn't large due to the fact it was suppose to be a store for travelers. But it was something for them to search.
"We need some food and water. Also something to defend ourselves". Julie spoke.
"Yeah...of course".
Julie begin to lead the way since she said something about it first. And he didn't even mind that she was. It took a lot of pressure off of him knowing that she would lead him. They went to the grass looking down some as they had to step over car pieces and large unknowing rocks. Further to the left was a massive hole that no one knew where it came from in such a short time.
"Watch the body". She called skipping over one.
He came to a stop and decided to walk around it before joining her.
"If you could, try not to step or jump over the dead people". He snapped.
"Sorry...just trying not to think about how they died".
He sigh nodding his head. It was a lot going on that they both needed to clear from their minds. It was only so much a teen could go through.
"I understand".
They walked across the grass and into the store lot. There was only two cars there that seemed untouched. Damien slowed and stopped at one looking inside as he noticed that the doors were locked. He then looked towards Julie who had also stopped to look inside the other car.
"Lock"! She called out.
"Same here"!
Walking over to her, he noticed something under the car she was at. His pace slowed and he crouched down seeing a little girl staring at him. He didn't know if she died with her eyes open or if she was still alive. But that was solved for him as she spoke first.
"Please don't hurt me". She begged with tears in her eyes.
Julie quickly crouched down on the other side peering in at the girl.
"Where are your parents"? Julie asked.
The little girl turned her head from Damien to Julie.
"They told me to hide under the car before they left somewhere".
Damien frown and stood up breathing in deep. He hope they didn't do what he was thinking they did. She was too young to be left alone. Julie stood soon after him looking at him with the same worry look.
"They left her here to die. We are taking her with us correct"?
"Yes, get her out and I'll check the doors".
She nodded and he walked off towards the store. The windows were slightly cracked like someone was trying to break into it and couldn't He stepped on the dirty mat and the door strain to open. It seemed to scream as it forced its way open splattering black goo inches from him on the ground. In front of him was a massive puddle of the same black goo boiling. Black bubbles popped up and burst sending tiny green liquid everywhere. It seemed to sizzle as it touched anything. He took a step back and looked back at Julie.
"Julie"! He yelled.
"Yes"?! She asked as she helped the little girl from under the car.
"I don't know what this is, but it's a massive black blog in front of us".
