Have you ever wondered what it's like to live in a cat's body? I never thought about it, but here I am, stuck in a cat's body from returning from the hospital. Let me explain how this all happened.
My name is Leo, I have no family, immediate nor distant. If I did, I don't know about them. I have been an orphan since birth.
I was on my way home from work, when I saw this beautiful all white cat. He was wondering the streets, seemingly lost. I went up to him and petted him gently. He purred and rubbed his small fluffy head against my hand. I should probably call a local animal shelter.
The cat looked well took care of and had a cute collar around his neck. As soon as I picked up my phone, the cat took off dashing into the middle of a busy street.
On reflex, I ran after him. It was my mistake but I would not change my decision if I could change it. Bright headlights light up the dark road. Fear flashed before my eyes as I grabbed the cat and protected him with my body, shielding him from the incoming truck.
Those few years felt like it took years. Waiting for the impact, the pain... my death. As expected a sharp unbearable pain shot through my back and that was it. The lights turned off in my head but I was still awake in my head?
A small light came into view from the darkness. it crept closer until it was right in front of me. I reached out to the warmth and it soon became one with me, connecting with my chest and was absorbed inside of me.
I felt warmth. It was like a piece of me was reunited after years of missing.
"Wake up," A soft woman's voice came into my head. Like spellbound, I slowly opened my eyes. The first thing that I saw was a dim lamp light. Then the slow and steady sounds of beeping.
Where am I? Wasn't I in a car accident? Am I in a hospital? I tried to look around but I couldn't move. i couldn't move! I started panicking, was I paralyzed? I have no one to take care of me if I was! I would be good as dead!
My eyes hurriedly looked around the room but no nurse or doctor was found. The beeping slowly started becoming more louder and frequent.
Soon a few nurses came running into the hospital room. they looked at me and silenced the machines, injecting me with something. I panicked more. Are they going to kill me? Slowly I felt myself fall asleep, I tried my best to fight it off, but it was in vain.

Fortunately, I awoke again. But this time, I could move.. I sighed in relief as I felt my fingers.
"Mr. Leo?" A voice came from across the room. I looked up and saw a doctor taking my vitals. "Ah, hello doctor," I said in a hoarse voice. The doctor smiled and then walked up to my bed and sat down on the chair beside it.
"Mr. Leo, do you recall what happened to you?" The doctor asked more serious this time.
"What... what do you mean?" I asked confused. "You're talking about the car accident?" i asked again. He looked at me sternly.
"Mr. Leo, I'm not judging you, but suicide isn't the answer. Especially by involving other people. My eyes widened at this. "Su- Suicide?" I asked again, confirming his answer.
I looked at him like he was crazy. "What makes you think I would want to kill myself?!" I asked angrily. I couldn't hold it in. "because I am an orphan? because I have no friends? Because I have no family? I never once thought abut killing myself! Get out! I refuse to have you as the person taking care of me!"
The man looked guiltily at me then left without a word. I pressed the nurse help button and waited for a nurse to come in.
She looked like an intern. "How may I help you?" She asked. She had a bubbly personality. "I want to be discharged." I said in a serious tone. I looked her straight in the eye.
"Sir, you have several external wounds and a concussion, I don't think..." I cut her off. "Please bring me the discharge papers." I asked more impatiently. After a long pause in hesitation, she handed me a clip board.
I signed the paper and asked for my things. She took off all the medical equipment attached to me and helped me sit up.
A throbbing pain in my head sprouted but it didn't stop me from leaving. Because my clothes were spoiled in the car accident, I was given over sized clothes from the lost and found.
I didn't own a car, only a skateboard, which wasn't on me, so I had to walk home. My house wasn't too far away, maybe an hour walk. My splitting headache was just killing me.
After an hour and forty five minutes.only taking that long because all of the breaks I had to take, I made it home. I lived in a small apartment complex, with walls as thin as paper. I can hear my neighbors so clearly.
I opened the door and closed it quietly, I plopped down on my bed and fell asleep as soon as I hit the mattress.
I woke up the next day to my alarm. Ugh... I need to get ready for work... I sat up and walked into my kitchen. The neighbors weren't yelling at each other which was surprising. Maybe they finally fell asleep at a normal time.
I took pain medicine for my headache and got into the shower. Blood washed away off my body and went down the drain. I stayed under the water until the water turned clear.
I grabbed a bottle of soup and tried to gently wash my wounds on my back, but there weren't any? I quickly got out of the shower and looked at my back through two mirrors and there really were no wounds!
What's going on?! There was so much blood but no wound?!
Okay, I need to calm down. I started to calm my breathing and get ready for work. I grabbed a hoodie and threw it over my chest, then put on ripped black jeans. I grabbed a pair of sunglasses and put them on. Light was hurting my eyes because of my concussion.
I grabbed my keys and my wallet and walked out of my apartment. It's going to be okay, it's Friday and then I have the weekend off.
I'm working part time as a model for photography college kids. The college is one of the best in the country so I was surprised that they gave me the job.
Not to be arrogant or anything but my looks aren't average. I have light sliver hair with bright blue eyes, a mole right under my left eye.
I was skating down the street when I saw a group of men in black suits looking around the area suspiciously,
I skated faster in fear they were up to no good. I don't need to be caught by the police again. They'll think I have something to do with them just because of my background.
I made it to the college two minutes late, Luckily I didn't need to take any stops like last night.
Now that I think about it, I wonder what happened to that cat? I hope he made it out. Te hospital didn't say anything about him, so no news is good news right?
After checking in with security, I walked into the photography club room. "Leo! Where were you yesterday?!" One of the photography members, Tina, jumped onto me, latching onto my shoulders and wouldn't let go. I hissed in pain but didn't push her off.
"Tina let go! You're hurting him!" William, a senior, pulled Tina off of me. I rubbed my sore temples and sat down on the scene they set up for me. There were blue and grey flowers all over the place, a ladder in the middle and a green screen behind it. I sat on top of the ladder.
"I was in a car accident and have a concussion," I said in an uninterested tone. The kids looked at me shocked and they all asked if I was okay and told me I shouldn't be here. I need the money or I would still be at home sleeping this concussion off.
"It's fine," I said with a smile, taking off the sunglasses. "My face doesn't have any bruising so you don't have to worry about it messing up your photos," I said jokingly and they all looked at me with sad eyes.
"It's fine guys, really, if you're that worried, hurry up and take pictures of me," I said with a mischievous chuckle.
After some hesitation, we went on with the photo shoot. I thought my eyes would fall out before they finished but it didn't take as long as usual so I was grateful.
Now onto my next part time job...
