“Nari, wake up!” Nari’s mother yelled from downstairs.

Nari woke up and got ready. She was in a bad mood because her mother disturbed her dream with her Haru( the leader of a famous band which attended Idol Star School). Nari always wanted to go to Idol star school but knew it was impossible for she was tone deaf.she headed downstairs and ate slowly.

“Nari-Yun! Eat quickly or you’re going to be late!” Said Nari’s mother.

When Nari was done, she was about to leave but her mother and father hugged her. They have always worried about Nari’s safety and this time especially for the LongWay Highschool was far away. “Love you Nari!” Said Nari’s dad. “Be careful on your way” said Nari’s mother.

Nari smiled and hugged her parents back. “Love you too mum and dad, and don’t worry about me. I have to go now, don’t wanna be late on my first day of school.” Nari waved at her parents and went out.

She started running or she was going to miss the last bus up ahead. She bumped into someone. “Ouch! Watch where you’re going” Nari yelled.

“Excuse me, you’re the one who bumped into me!” The man yelled back. “Now look what you’ve done! I missed the last bus! I’ll have to take the stinky subway, thanks a lot!” Said Nari. “It’s my pleasure miss” the man grinned. “YOU...” Nari said collecting a lot of anger.

Then Nari screamed so loudly, “Help! There is a cult trying to kidnap me!!!”

Everyone stared at the man and started talking about him. Nari took this chance to run. She was totally gonna be late now!

After School

“Mom,Dad, I’m back” Nari said opening her shoes.

“How was your day dear?” Nari’s father asked.

Nari sat on the couch. “You won’t believe it, on my way to school, I bumped into a boy and he made me miss my bus and I was late so the teacher made me stand up infront of class on my first day! If I ever meet him again, I’ll be sure to give him a good beating!” Nari said angrily. “Where’s mom?” She asked her dad.

“Someone agreed to rent our basement and so your moms helping him clean up.Hes about your age, you could be friends” Nari’s father said.

“Oh really!? That’s great, I’ll go help out” exclaimed Nari. Her basement was big but it was really dusty. She walked in. “You!?” Nari screamed pointing at the boy. It was the same boy from this morning!

The boy was also really shocked. “You two know each other?” Asked Nari’s mom.

“Uhh...it’s a long story” Nari said nervously.

“Hello, my name is Jin, what’s your name?” Asked Jin pretending nothing ever happened between them.

“None of your business” Nari said crossing her arms.

“Nari-Yun! Be polite, he’s your roommate.” Nari’s mother said with an angry face towards Nari.

“Ugh...Hello, my name is Nari-Yun” Nari said looking at her left. Jin reached out his hand for a handshake, “Nice to meet you Nari, hope we can be good friends” Jin smiled.

Mia was annoyed to death! Seriously, now he’s pretending nothing ever happened this morning!?

Why is he my roommate!?!?

Nari hand shaked him back but she was still so annoyed.

“Nari,can you help me with the boxes here, it’s too heavy” said Nari’s mother. The boy walked over to Nari’s mother,“I’ll help you Mrs.Yun.” Nari’s mother smiled and thanked him,then she turned her head to Nari, “See what a gentleman he is? Why can’t you help your own mother? Is this why I raised you, so you can just eat and sleep all day!?”

“B-but Mom, you didn’t even let me—” Nari said but her mother gave her a frightening glance which meant she should stop talking. Nari’s mother then turned around to Jin and asked him where his parents lived.

“Mrs.Yun, my parents died in an accident when I was younger and I was brought up by my grandparents but they also passed away soon after” Jin said looking down. Nari looked at him surprised, she did not expect his parents died and felt kind of guilty for the way she treated him before. He also seemed friendly so why not be good friends with him?

Nari’s mother also felt sad and pity for Jin. “Treat us as your family, tell us if you need anything or if you’re feeling uncomfortable.”

Jin smiled, “Ok Mrs.Yun, thank you.”Jin gave a slight bow.( bowing is a way to show respect, say hi, thank you, and bye in Korea)

The Next Day

“Nari! Come down for breakfast!” Yelled Nari’s mother from downstairs.

When she walked down, she saw her parents chatting with Jin. She also sat down on the chair beside her mother. She started eating her breakfast. “Which school do you attend Jin?”asked Nari’s father. “I go to Idol Star School” he said after taking a sip of water.

Nari was shocked that she almost chocked on her food. “Nari!” Nari’s mother passed her the water. Nari started coughing but slowly started to calm down.

“Oh, you go to Idol Star school!?You know, Nari always wanted to go to that school. Do you think by any chance, you can enroll our Nari in that school” asked Nari’s father.

“Depends on your daughter’s performance. You know, our school only allows people who have talent and can sing and dance well” Jin said.

“That will be a problem then, Nari is tone deaf and her body isn’t flexible at all” said Nari’s mother taking a seat.

“If you want Mr. and Mrs.Yun, I can personally train Nari myself after school. There will be an audition next month for new students who wants to enroll in our school” Jin said wiping his mouth with a napkin.

“That would be great! And for that, we’ll pay your rent for this month” said Nari’s father looking delighted.

“Thank you Mr. and Mrs.Yun, I’ll be off now and I’ll take Nari with me, don’t worry about her” said Jin.

Nari’s mother smiled and gave them both their lunches and sent them off. She was very delighted that Jin could help her daughter with her dream.

After Nari and Jin came from school

“Mom,Dad,we’re back!” Nari said.

“Ok dear,how was your day?” Nari’s father asked after coming from the kitchen. “Today was great!” Nari said looking delightful.

“Nari,when you’re done washing up,come down to the basement” Said Jin taking of his coat and then heading downstairs.

Nari changed her uniform and washed up. Then she went to her room and listened to one of Haru’s songs. She totally forgot about Jin. After the song was over,Nara looked at the clock. Oh no! Two hours had already passed,it does not take a person more than ten minutes to wash up. She put everything down and ran to the basement. She was sure Jin wasn’t going to be mad, he seemed friendlier yesterday,right?

In the basement

“Jin,are you there? It’s me,Nari” Nari said. She walked in and saw Jin sitting on the bed looking furious.

“J-Jin, I lost track o-of time” Nari stuttered looking nervous. This is not the friendly face she saw yesterday when he moved in.

Jin got up and head over to her,then smiled. “Bow” he said crossing his arms. Nari was confused. What did he say? “I said bow,are you going to listen or not?” Jin said grinning.

“Heh? Why should I bow to you?” Nari talked back.

“I’m your cult master now, of course you bow down to me. I’m not asking you to kneel am I? Or should I?” Jin smirked.

“Y-you!” Nari said. She can’t believe he remembers what she called him yesterday now of all times. But she did not bother to say a word further and did as he said. Plus it was normal to bow to you elders. It’s just that Jin was only a year older so Nari didn’t really want to.

“I’m thirsty, get me a drink” Jin said sitting back on his bed.

Nari went back upstairs and got some lemonade for him.

“Ok now,let me hear you sing so I’ll know what I have to work with” said Jin.

“Over the night sky\~”

“Over the twilight\~”

“Shining so—”

“Ok,stop!” Jin said. “First of all,this is Friday’s song which has multiple boys singing(Friday is the band Haru’s in) and second, there is no tone in your voice.” Jin said very dissatisfied. “Ok, we’ll cover that later,dance for me now” Jin demanded.

Nara fell over and tripped while dancing. She lost all hope in herself thinking she won’t ever become an idol.

Jin sighed in disappointment. He did not expect Nari to do this bad. If she was up on stage right now, the judges would’ve eliminated her immediately.

“Get up” Jin said. “You’re not totally hopeless yet. With a little bit of my magic,you’ll become a star.First I’ll deal with your singing and then your dancing and flexibility” he said lending a hand.

Nari did not understand, she was totally hopeless. Why would Jin lend a hand? She got up and practiced with Jin the whole afternoon.
