"OH, SHIT! Why it isn't working?!" Nadine exclaimed. Her voice lingered around the place. She was annoyed. She tried to enter a woman's body but she was just rejected. Nadine was a lost soul who wanted to carry out her last mission. She believes that fulfilling her last mission could end her journey and go to heaven.

"You can do it, Nadine! Go!" Lily encouraged. She was a lost soul too. Her age ranged from eight to eleven years old. She was looking for her parents. That was her unfinished business to crossover. She wanted to see their condition before she leave.

It's been ten years since Nadine became a lost soul. At first, she couldn't believe it. She just woke up one day she was already a lost soul. She wandered for several weeks until she met Lily. She was the one who explained to her everything. She also named her Nadine because she couldn't remember even her name. The name was inspired by Lily's favorite actress Nadine Lustre who they always seen on the billboard.

She cried in frustration after she heard everything. From there, she realized why she's not capable of feeling hunger, sick, and thirst. Even when she wandered around, it was okay. It was all because she couldn't feel that way since she was dead.

According to Lily, everyone who dies lost their memory. It was all because of the sudden disconnection of the soul to the physical body. However, memories will come back gradually. Lily heard and learned that information from the old ghost she met who already crossed over. She shared that information to Nadine.

In Lily's case, her memories came back two years ago. She remembered she died in a fire and her family survive five years ago. For now, she wants to see her family first to find out their situation before she goes to heaven.

Nadine on the other hand, remembered her dream of becoming a writer. Her memories were triggered the moment she and Lily passed on Mega Publishing. A sudden strange feeling embraced her. It was weird, they decided to wander around and looked for an answer. In the basement, they saw the printing machines to make Tagalog romance pocketbooks. Nadine was mesmerized and amazed. Her beats fast. She was excited. She suddenly felt the intense longing to have her own published books.

Since then Nadine has never left Mega. Lily leaves to find the parents from time to time but returns there to accompany her. Lily became attached to her. Nadine did the same. Nadine is deeply grateful to Lily. Because of her, she was able to comprehend everything about being a ghost.

This past few weeks, Nadine couldn't help but wander in and out of Mega. She wants to write her own story. She thought of a plot and of course, she was the heroine of her own story. At least in the book, she has her own romance story. Ah, she just kept getting excited about the thought.

"Right! I must endure this! If I can't get into the human body, how can I write a novel, right? So I have to endure this until I succeed." she said.

"Yes! Go for it! Just look for a body you can use.  How can you send a manuscript? They can't recognize you. You can't write on that condition, right?" Lily said.

Nadine nodded. "You are correct. All right. I 'm going to find someone whom I can possess." She was determined.

Nadine and Lily looked around. There a lot of people passing by. Man, woman, old and young, they looked for someone who could help them until they saw an old strange woman walking towards them. She looks in a hurry. Her hair was messy. She seemed not taking good care of herself. She was dirty. She was wearing a black is a wide-brimmed robe; she has a lot of bead necklace. Her eyes were surrounded by dark circles. She was so pale. Nadine's heart pounded the moment their gazes lock. The woman saw her!

"Exorcist! Run, Nadine!" Lily screamed.

"What?!" she replied shockingly. That was the first time they were in trouble, she didn't know what to do. She couldn't even react!

And Lily was prompt. She grabbed her hand and pulled her away. They were not normal people, they were able to penetrate the wall and hide inside Mega Publishing.

"W-Who's that?" Asked Nadine. She was worried.

"An exorcist. She can exorcise us. We need to be careful. We need to stay away from her. When she caught us, she will send us to heaven immediately even before we have finished our mission. For them, we should not be here anymore." she sadly explained.

"I-Is that so? How did she found out that we were here?" she asked anxiously.

Lily shrug. "Maybe, she was just roaming around, she had the chance to see us. There are exorcists like her. They wander and hunt like us. It was like a mission. Aside from them, psychics can also see us."

Nadine nodded. "We can't move on freely. She knows we are here. I'm just thinking, there's a possibility she will stay outside and wait for us."

"Oh my! You're right!" Lily exclaimed nervously.

Nadine clenched her fist. Her eyes narrowed as she imagined everything. "I have to find someone I can possess."

"And I have to find my parents, too. After that, even if she exorcises me, I'm okay with it." Lily cried.

They hugged each other. Nadine felt sorry for themselves. They were just poor souls, someone was too eager to eliminate them. She wanted to scream in frustration. They are not doing anything wrong. They don't deserve that!

Nadine sighed and thought again how the mission could be accomplished.

Lily and Nadine were stunned when somebody turns on the light. They saw an office with ten tables. That was the first time they entered that room. Normally, they always in the printing area where Lily was staying. Nadine was amazed watching those machines how to make a book.

That explains why she didn’t know about that room. On the left side of the office, there’s another room. There’s a little signage on the door saying ‘Office of Finance Manager’. The wide glass door was located in the middle of the office. On the top of the wide glass door, there’s a signage scribbled ‘Exit/Entrance’.

From there, employees started to enter. One woman caught Nadine’s interest. She was wearing eyeglasses. Her hair was pixie cut. She looks average. Her eyes wasn’t that big and round. Her nose and lips look ordinary. She not fair nor dark. Nadine thought that the woman must be around her age. Both of them were in the late twenties. The woman glances at them and she suddenly turned pale. Nadine felt their connection. Her heart pounded like crazy.

“S-She saw us, right?” Nadine asked Lily. She was trying to confirm that. Her hair was standing to its end.

“Yes but why she acted like that? Why didn’t she pay attention to us? Normally, people who see us often afraid but she just seems to ignore us.” Lily replied.

Nadine looked at the woman again. Now, she’s not looking back at her. She was starting to fix her things and started to work.

Nadine and Lily approached the woman and observed. She was nervous. Her hand was shaking and still pale. Nadine tried to touch the woman when a very handsome man suddenly approached her. He looked like Lee Dong Wook! Lee Dong Wook was the Korean actor who has a huge billboard in EDSA. That billboard became Nadine’s favorite spot. She admired him. She loves to stare at his gorgeous face. She couldn’t understand the feeling as if he was familiar with her heart. He seemed to be inside her heart for a very long time.

“Miss Punzalan, meet me in my office.” He demanded. He possessed a baritone tone, making him so manly. Oh, she was swooning. The man looked cruel but still beautiful as hell.

She wanted to make him her hero. He was tall, about six feet. He possessed a nice built. Broad shoulders. Bit muscular biceps and triceps. Small waist. All in all, he was sexy. Aside from his physique, he seemed financially stable. He was every woman’s dream. Oh, she was excited! She wants to write her very first novel and this man would be the male lead!

Nadine’s fantast stopped when the woman who named Miss Punzalan stood and went to the man’s office. Nadine and Lily went inside too. They were curious about what’s happening.

“The man seemed in a bad mood,” Lily commented.

“I guess so,” Nadine whispered.

All of them were surprised when the beautiful man dropped the papers in front of Miss Punzalan. Her hands were shaking while holding the papers and burst out crying as she reads it.

“You have issued the wrong amount on cheques. You gave this writer a bigger amount than she deserves. What were you thinking, Ereen? The company is going to fall if you keep doing this.” He replied in an upset tone.

“I-I’m sorry, sir…” Ereen replied while her tears keep falling on her cheeks.

The man exhales exasperatedly. His face darkens and looked at Ereen. “Tell me. Who else had an error here? I know, someone has given you incorrect information.”

Ereen did not speak. She just cried in silence. Nadine looked at Ereen’s hand. They were firmly clenched. Hopelessness was written on her face.

She felt sorry for Ereen. She could feel that Ereen was a good person. She believes that this woman wasn’t capable of doing such thing. She was just too unlucky and unfortunate to be in that position.

“Fine. If you don’t want to talk, you gave me no choice. From now on, everything will be undergo on audit. I will personally look for the person who was involved here. You may go now.” He said and drove her away.

Ereen headed out. She was still crying. She went back to her area. Her co-employees approached her as soon as she gets back.

“What did he said? D-Did you tell him everything?” Krisaint asked. She looked worried. Nadine saw her name on her ID she was wearing. Krisaint looks thirty years old. She loves fashion. She wore accessories and trendy clothes.

Ereen shook her head. Krisaint breathed and sighed in relief. “Oh, thank you! Sorry for what we did. But it’s Noemi’s fault. Her computations were wrong. I just followed the details she made and wrote it on the request form that was forwarded to you.”

“It’s my fault too. I am not updated on the talent fee of the writers. I didn’t double-check it.” She replied coldly.

“See? You are guilty too!” Krisaint replied. She instantly put all the blame on Ereen. In just blink of an eye, Krisaint turned out to be on the right side.

Ereen stayed quiet. She didn’t want to say anything anymore. Nadine thinks that Ereen did that because it was her way of admitting that she works sloppy. Nadine was disappointed. She wanted to possess Ereen and tell her colleagues that there were altogether in that mess! Screw them!

Krisaint left. Nadine followed her. She saw her approaching Noemi.

“Noemi! Ereen is in deep shit. She was called by the Finance Manager to his office. When she came back, she was crying!” Krisaint said.

Noemi looked nervous but in the end, she shook her hand. “Let her be. I know, Ereen. She’s not a threat. She’s kind and too soft. This is not the first time we have done something wrong but she didn’t dare blamed us. So chill, okay. She’ll do the same thing. She didn’t want this to go any further.” Noemi confidently said.

Krisaint breathe and relieved. They had a little chat until both of them get back to work.

Nadine’s heart broke for Ereen. Her co-workers always took advantage of her kindness. Ah, she wanted to hit their head! It was pissing her off!

“I feel sad for her, Nadine.”

“Me too. I want to help her.” Nadine answered.

“Are you going to use her body?” Lily asked.

Nadine looked at Ereen. She was still crying while working. She still feels sad for her. Ereen was taking all the blame on that mess. She needed to fight and to stand what is right. She needed to stop those people who always took advantage of her.

“Okay. I will try to possess her late.” Nadine said determinedly.

Lily and Nadine nodded. She waited patiently until five o’clock. They followed Ereen around until they saw again the old lady who wants to exorcise them! She wants them to vanish. She waited outside the building for an hour just to look for them. Lily and Nadine’s eyes widened in surprise and shocked!

“Hey!” the old woman shouted, trying to call their attention. She approached them in a hurry. People were surprised by her actions and moved away. In the eyes of others, they do not see Lily and Nadine. The old woman looked stupid pointing her finger on a space behind Ereen. Ereen was so shocked too.

“A-Are you talking to me?” Ereen asked shockingly.

“No! Get out of my way!” The old woman replied. She was annoyed. She almost pushed Ereen away just to catch them.

Nadine and Lily ran for their lives. But unluckily, they couldn’t stay away because the old woman throw something at their back. What she did paralyzed them.  They were not sure what happened next. Everything went dark. They woke up in the room!

“Nadine!” Lily screamed in terror.

“I’m here!” Nadine shouted. She was scared too but she tried to remain calm so she could think clearly.

When her vision adjusted, she gradually saw everything. She saw Lily at the corner of the room. She hurriedly approached her and hugged her tight. Both of them calmed themselves then tried to penetrate the wall to escape but they didn’t succeed! They just bounced back! It seems the old woman put a seal so they couldn’t penetrate it!

“Both of you cannot get out. We are surrounded by trap seals.” The old woman confirmed.

The two ghosts faced the old woman. That moment, the old woman was busy making a potion. Nadine couldn’t take the smell and panic. She was up to something, she was sure of it.

“W-What are you doing?” Nadine asked in fear.

“What else? I am doing something that can send you back wherever you should be!” she answered irritably and drop the mortar. She faced them. Her face was a bit red. Giving the impression that she was sick of them. “The likes of you were just a distress in the peace of humanity. Lost souls like you should have crossed over the afterlife and not disturbing people here!”

“Please! I’m begging you! Don’t do this! Don’t send us to the afterlife!” Lily plead. She was crying, too scared for her own life.

The old woman exhale exaggeratedly. “Hah! After what you’ve done? You made me looked stupid in front of those people! No. I will not let you do the same thing again. Do you have any idea what I did back there? I used my last two talismans just to catch you. It was made by my grandfather for the likes of you. I was saving it for lost souls who are too hard to catch. But because of you, now, it’s gone! Ah, you are pissing me off!”

“We didn’t do anything wrong!” Nadine exclaimed. She couldn’t control it anymore. They are not bad spirits. They just want to fulfill their last mission. Is it a crime?

And Nadine was surprised when a sudden leak of unknown power came out from her. Because of her reaction, the glasses burst into pieces and everything around them was ruined.

Nadine was panting. All of a sudden, the old woman was scared, but eventually she moved on. She finished what she was doing and face her.

“S-See what you did and what you are capable of? Lost souls like you didn’t have any use or purpose here. At first, you are just harmless but the moment you couldn’t finish your last mission here, you are going to transform into a wicked soul. You will be attached here and lose rationality. Time will come, you can hurt other people just like what you did a while ago. You will become a poltergeist! You will hurt us!” the old woman shuddered and then finished making the potion. She pour that in a bottle and mix it with holy water. After that, she face them again.

“This potion contains, salt, garlic, holy water and unknown herbs that fights evil spirits of this world. Together with my prayers, lost souls like you will instantly travel the afterlife. Your soul may rest in there.” The old woman whispered and lift her hand so she can pour them the potion.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOO—!” Lily and Nadine screamed. They both oppose. They understood her point but what the hell? They are not yet ready! They wanted to fulfill their mission!

The unknown forces leaked again. This time, it came from Lily and Nadine. Nadine could feel the strange power came out of her body, making the glasses shattered into pieces. In addition to that, there was a slight tremor too. The talisman at their back was instantly burned. The old woman screamed in terror.

And they had freedom. There’s nothing the old woman could do but to scream when her old house was also destroyed by the sudden release of their extraordinary energy.

Lily and Nadine escaped. Together while holding each other hand, they went back to Mega Publishing. Just like what they always do, they hide inside.

“Nadine…” Lily whispered.

“Shh…” Nadine stopped Lily and just hugged her. Both of them were gasping for air. They remain in that position. Both of them convince themselves that they did nothing wrong. They just escaped. After their journey, they swear they will cross over and moved on. They will prove to that old lady they are not bad souls and that’s the only thing they want.

The next morning, the office resume. It was the same thing running inside Nadine’s head. When Nadine saw Ereen entered the room, she stood up. Ereen was the first person who came inside the office.

“She’s here,” Lily whispered.

Nadine’s heart pounded. That’s her chance! She didn’t hesitate now. After what happened? Oh, she was desperate now. She needed her body. Before that woman came back and exorcise her, she will finish that mission. By hook or by crook!

Nadine inhales and exhales. She approached Ereen and possessed her. The moment she entered Ereen’s body; she felt she was easily absorbed. She didn’t bounce back. Her body didn’t reject her but instead, she accepts her. Nadine felt that Ereen was emotionally and mentally drained. She wanted to rest. Maybe, that was the reason why Ereen’s body easily accepts her.

“Nadine?” Lily called her.

“L-Lily…” Nadine whispered and looked at Lily. She was blurred. She removed Ereen’s eyeglasses. Lily became clearer. It seems Nadine has a perfect vision. She didn’t need to wear glasses. Nadine heard Ereen’s voice that she was using. She looked at her hand on the computer monitor. She saw she was really inside her body! A total possession!

Lily’s eyes widen in surprise! She was shocked too and in the end, they cried in happiness. “You did it, Nadine! You can finally finish your mission! I’m so happy for you!” Lily cried.

Nadine cried in happiness too. “Y-Yes… oh, Lily! Yes!”

Nadine didn’t have any idea how long they were crying and thanking. She was really glad. She was looking for a perfect body and now, here it is. She will not waste any minute. She will write her very first story!
