Once upon a time in a faraway land, lived a princess in an immense castle. Her name was Isabella. She was a beautiful girl with a courteous attitude and the most tender heart.
She had two most cherished people in her life, her beloved father and her most loyal court lady, Caroline.
Caroline had been with princess Isabella since birth and she loved her as a mother loves her child. She was the most trusted by the princess and had never once dared to forsake her...
Until one day, Caroline received a notice from home.
"Dear mother,
I am writing to you to apprise about the health of Alexander because as her mother, I know how much you are worried about him.
I did not wanted to say this, however Alexander's health has worsen to a great extent.
I took him to the doctor and was inform that his illness is unfortunately a month away from reaching stage four...
Mother, please so not worry about him too much. I will provide him with as much care as I can and will work harder in earning the money for his treatment. I hope you will do the same.
Sincerely,
Your daughter, Amanda."
As she read the letter, her eyes begun to water...She fell on her knees as she burst out crying. She felt so helpless...She wanted to get his son treated as soon as possible, however due to poverty, she could not even provide her family with good food.
The next few days, Caroline spent her days feeling sorrowful and anguished. The princess noticed her spacing our many times, however, everytime she enquired about the problem, Caroline would force a smile and tell her not to worry as everything is fine.
A week later, the castle had started to get busier than usual. The cooks were focused on preparing delicious meals in the royal kitchen, servants were busy cleaning and restyling the castle, and the soldiers were doing their very best in tightening the security.
This was because tomorrow was a special day, it was the princess's birthday and everything had be be perfect as the King had demanded.
Although, the princess was excitedly waiting for her special day, she was also worried for her beloved court lady who had seemed to be feeling depressed over something.
The day went by quickly. and soon it was the princess's birthday. The day was spent having fun talks, and enjoying the delectable meals prepared specially for the princess.
But this wasn't all. She also received a very special gift from her father, a glittering bracelet that used to belong to her late mother. The princess felt very delighted when she received it as it was the her first time owning something that belonged to her late mother.
She thanked the king a hundred times and promised to treasure it for the rest of her life.
She kept the bracelet inside a tiny but beautiful box in her room.
At night, when the court lady was preparing the bed for her highness, she noticed an unfamiliar wooden box hidden between the bed sheets.
Out of curiosity, she opened it and found a shimmering gold bracelet with different coloured diamonds attached to it.
Caroline's eyes begun to sparkle as she thought of how much it could be worth. She thought about how she would be able to pay for his son's treatment if she sold it...

"Caroline, what are you doing with my bracelet..?"
Enquired the princess who had just entered the room.
Caroline quickly gazed behind as she heard the princess's voice.
"Oh! Your Majesty! I was only looking at it...as it seems quite unfamiliar.." Caroline replied curiously.
"Oh, I must have forgotten to tell you..! Actually, father gifted it me. He said that it used to belong to my late mother!" The princess said delightfully.
"In that case, it must be very special to you, right?" Caroline responded.
"Yes, it is! It's very special to me...you know, this bracelet is the first thing ever that I own that belonged to my mother...! I can't express how happy I am!" Said the princess with glimmer in her eyes.
Caroline noticed the elated expression the princess had. She smiled and carefully closed the wooden box as she shook away all the negative thoughts she had earlier.
"In that case, would you let me keep this treasurable jewelry safe for your Majesty?" She said faithfully.
"Yes, please do!" The princess replied "It's very special to me...and I want to treasure it for the rest of my life...!"
Caroline secured the wooden box with the bracelet inside a locker in a hidden room which was located on the top floor of the castle where no one was allowed to enter except for the princess, the king, and the court lady.
Everyday she would go upstairs and into the hidden room to check on the bracelet.
The princess had decided to only wear the bracelet on the queens anniversary.
A week went by and Caroline's worries for her son had increased...she started to feel uneasy. She ways felt afraid that she wouldn't be able to manage her son's treatment fees before the month passes.
As her worries started to grow, a letter from her daughter, Amanda turned those worries into terror and trauma.
It said that her son's health has worsen and he needs to get treatment as soon as possible...! The poor boy no longer possessed the energy to walk and had to spend all his days under a blanket. He started to suffer from unbearable headaches and had completely lost his appetite towards food...
Caroline burst out crying as she read the letter. She felt helpless...she feared losing her only son.
The only person who she could ask for help was...the princess, but as she did not wanted to make her worried, she wavered...and decided to keep it a secret.

Another week passed, and her uneasiness had started to aggravate...
One day, she went to the top floor to check up on the gold bracelet as it was her usual routine. Even then, she could not stop thinking about her son...
Suddenly, the negative thoughts that she had when she first saw the bracelet came back...! "Should I sell this bracelet..? it'll get me enough money to afford for my son's treatment..." "But wait...i promised her highness to keep it safe for her! how can I do such a thing!" she thought.
At first, she hesitated telling herself not to do it as she must fulfill her promise that she made with the princess.
But then, she decided to sell it because she feared losing her son the most.
The next day, she went in town to sell the bracelet. She scouted around in search for a jewelry buyer and before she knew it, it had gotten really dark...However, she did not give up. She searched and searched and in the end, finally found someone!
That someone was an old man who possessed fierce looks and a croaky tone of voice but turned out to be quite serene and easy.
Coraline went up to him, quietly took out the bracelet hidden in her sleeves, and placed it on a table Infront of him.
The man picked up the bracelet and while examining it, she said "Hmm...this seems very rare...where'd ya get it?" Caroline clenched her hands behind her back and went silent for a few seconds.
"Uh...it's my mother's...she asked me to sell it since we're in need of money." then she said.
The man then offered a great amount of money for the bracelet.
Caroline looked at him in astonishment as she heard him say the amount. It was just enough for her son's treatment. Without thinking twice, she sold the bracelet to the old man and thanked him before walking out of his store in nothing but anticipation.
Then, she travelled to her home town to meet with her children.
After travelling the whole night, she finally arrived at her destination.
...~*A*n hour later~...
Caroline knocked on the door, and an unfamiliar face answered it. As the door opened, she saw a handsome young man standing before her.
She looked at him in confusion as she did not recognize him.
"Oh, hello there! I believe you are Amanda's mother. Please come in." he said politely.
Caroline went inside. "My apologies, but who might you be?" she inquired.
"Oh, right! pardon me, please! My name is Ban--"
before he could finish his sentence, a familiar voice from behind interrupted him "Mother! I'm surprised you're here!" Said Amanda from behind.
