Tyler

I wake up to the yelling coming from downstairs. "Great their at it again. Can't I get one morning with peace and quiet?" And so my daily routine begins. Wake up to mom and dad fighting. As I get dressed, right on time the front door opens and slams shut.

I pull up my black tight jeans and a long gray sleeve t-shirt. I sit in front of my mirror and start to brush my light brown hair with almost white highlights that by now hangs at my lower back. I look in the mirror and see my eyes are a dark shade of purple. My eyes are in general blue but my eyes turn purple a few days before my birthday and each day the go's by my eyes gets lighter. But the day after my birthday they turn back. No one knows why.

I finish brushing my hair and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth. After I finish I head down and prepare myself for what's to come.

I barely set foot in the kitchen when the hand made contact with my cheek and the ear piercing slap echoes through the house.

"It's all your fault that I'm not happy in this house!" My mother yells rage and hatred burning in her eyes and her words like acid.

When all this started it really hurt me and I would cry for hours but now it doesn't even phase me. I remain silent and push past her to get some toast and make my way to the front door. She came in front of me and landed a punch in my stomach. I fall to the ground gasping for air.

"I wish you werr never born!" She yells again.

I just get up and walk out the door. I wait for Lilith to pick me up. I look at my phone seeing that I have a text from a number that's not among my contacts. I read it: 'meet me at the bleachers after school.' I start to wonder who it could be. I was thrown back into reality by Lilith calling my name, I look at her and smiles.

"Hey." I greet her as I get in the passenger seat. She sees my red cheek.

"You know you can come live with me right? You can't keep putting up with this." She says with sympathy.

"I know but if I'm not going to be her punching bag she'll find someone else to take it out on." I say smiling at her. She is hesitant but pulls on the road and drives us to school.

We reach the school and get ready for the first period. As I'm busy at my locker when I get pushed against the locker and the deep male voice says in my ear, "Fags don't belong here." He leaves after shoving me once more.

I learned that it's a waste of time to report him to the teachers because almost everyone in this school hates me except Lilith and probably the new guy that doesn't know me. Only reason why the teachers haven't picked on me is because I'm their best student. I make my way to my first period that's math.

I take my seat at the back of the class when the new guy enters. He has been here for about a few days no one really talks to him but the girls are crazy about him.

He has blue hair that's above his shoulders, his eyes are dark purplish blue that seems like he's looking through you all the way into your soul. He looks like he works out and he's handsome. He has every girl in the school at his feet but turned each and every one of them down.

He walks to his seat that's next to mine. He looks at me and just smiles, I thought I was seeing things. The only person in the world who always smiles when I'm in the same room is Lilith. Class begins when the teacher enters.

Time goes by fast and it's already after school. I told Lilith that I'm going to walk home. I sit on the bleachers waiting for the mysterious person who sent me the text.

I hear footsteps behind me. I turn to see the new guy. 'How did he get there there's only one way onto the bleachers and I was watching it the whole time' I tried to make sense of this.

"Tyler right?" He asks getting closer.

"What do you want? Want to make fun of me like the rest of the world?" I ask harshly.

"No, I just want to get to know who you are because everyone says you're a 'freak' because of your eyes." He answers saying 'freak' like it's poison.

"Okay?" I say hesitantly.

"I'm Jason." He introduce himself sitting next to me. A bit to close than I'm use to. He digs in his pocket and takes something out and holds his hand out in front of me. "I don't think you're a freak. I just think you're special and this is my token of friendship." He says smiling. "I'd really like us to be friends."

I hold my hand out and he place a ring in my hand. "Do you accept my offer to be friends?" He asks still smiling. I nod to shocked that a guy wants to be friends with me. "May I place it on your finger?" He asks and I nod. He slips the ring on my right ring finger and I feel a wave of energy run through my body. "With this ring I'll always be there to help you when you're in trouble. No matter where you are I'll be there in an instant." He says and I can tell he really means that.

"Thanks but why?" I ask felling confused.

"I don't like it when people get treated like you are. And from just looking at you I feel like we're going to be really good friends." He smiles and I feel strange inside.

"I should be going, don't want to be late." I say getting up and ready to go.

"Mind if I walk with you?" He asks getting up as well.

"I don't see why not." I say feeling my face getting a bit warmer. We walk to my house talking about random things and laughing till we get to my front door.

"Thanks for walking with me. See you tomorrow at school." I say smiling at someone other than Lilith for the first time in forever.

"Yeah see you." He says and turns to walk.

I open the door and enters the house. As soon as the door is closed and I turn around my mother punch me in the face making me hit the door hard. "Who was that? Your little fag friend?!" She yells and pulls her arm back to hit me again when there's a knock on the door. "Go to your room." She orders, I get up and walk towards the stairs but stop wanting to hear who's at the door.

"What do you want?!" My mother asks out of anger.

"I'm here for Tyler ma'am. I'd like to see him." I hear Jason's voice and could hear the anger in his tone.

"Well you can't! He isn't allowed to have anyone at the house! So leave!" She starts to get annoyed and starts to close the door.

Before it was closed Jason stopped it with his hand. "I wasn't asking." He stated and push the door open with one hand despite my mother trying to push it closed with all her strength. As soon as the door is fully open he walks in.

"Who do you think you are just coming into my house after I told you to leave?!" She yells and I could see she is going to hit him.

He grabs her wrist before she can strike him and twist it. "I'm Jason, and I'm Tyler's protector and friend, and I don't like the way you are treating him!" He says in a tone that sent shivers down my back and my mother petrified with fear on the floor. She starts to cry.

Jason walks towards me. "Get your things, you're not going to stay here for one more minute." He says with a soft tone the complete opposite of the tone he used with my mother. How he said it made me want to go with him so I ran to my room and tossed some clothes in a backpack. Jason is standing in the doorway watching me.

I hear my dad's car and my heart stops, because my dad was in the military and Jason didn't stand a chance against him. He will kill Jason. He always carry a gun with him.

"Are you packed?" Jason asks and I nod.

"This isn't a good idea. My dad will kill you if you try to take me." I say my hands start to shake.

"Let him try." He says with a grin. "If he tries then you'll see why I promise to keep you safe."

We walk out of my room and down the stairs standing in the door is my dad with his gun pointing at us. "If you don't leave now I'll shoot!" He threatened and I know he isn't bluffing.

"We were just about to so if you could step out of the door Tyler and I.." He didn't finish.

"Tyler isn't going anywhere! Tyler go back to your room!" He yells in anger unlike I've ever seen. I hang my head and turns to go back upstairs when Jason grabs my hand.

"He's coming with me whether you like it or not!" He pulls me as he walks to the door.

Then the gun went off...

I don't know if this is allowed but I have to apologize. I started this novel way too early. I should've waited till the end of November to start because that's when I'm graduating (hopefully) so I'll try to continue with the novel whenever I get a chance so please be patient and I'll try to give you great quality and if anyone have any ideas on what I should add please do share it with me especially if you think it would help improve the plot 🙏. Again I am very sorry for disappointing you all.
