Curled up on the couch Orion was  trying to finish reading a book for English class and right beside him resting  his head on his feet was a chocolate lab Coco. The energetic pup just looked  at him  as if asking  him to get up and leave the book alone already. And how she thought it was a better idea for him to  play with her instead. He just ignored her and turned back to his book and tried focusing on finishing it  but he was a bit all over the place today. Suddenly he felt his nerves calm down and his thoughts recollecting themselves. Sunny and Nix must have returned from school. He could sense Sunny´s  calm energy in the air, and wasn't he glad that her energy rubes off on  the people around her another  5 minuets he would have lost his mind.

The door opened, ¨We're back!¨ it was Nix. The twins started making there way upstairs to put their stuff away. A few moments later you could hear two pairs of footsteps going down the stairs that eventually made their way to the bottom of the staircase.

¨Hey Orion.¨ Sunny  said as she plopped down onto the other couch across from him. Nix  sat on the ground next to where Coco was resting and started petting her.

¨Hey¨ Orion replied not looking away from his book. Even though his sister was right there radiating her calm energy he still couldn't concentrate. He tried to get his self together before anyone notice well more like someone noticed but it was to late. his thoughts were disrupted with the words ¨Whatcha  doin.¨  he didn't look away from the book and only replied ¨you have eyes figure it out.¨

¨Wow, is that how  you answer your younger brother. I'm hurt.¨ Nix put his hand on his chest and  acted offended.

¨yes, now leave me alone I need to finish this book.¨ Orion said rubbing the bridge of his nose.

¨ Hey i'm only trying to help you out. You're looking at that book like you have fucking dyslexia or something.¨ Nix teased.

¨Nix just leave him alone.¨ sunny warned.

Nix put both hands in the air as if he were being arrested. ¨okay fine. I'm just saying he should just take a break. Straining his brain isn't going to do him any good.¨ and with that he got up and headed towards the kitchen.

He had hated that he was right so he ended up putting down the book and got up.

Sunny looked at him,¨you're not actually taking to consideration of what he just said you know he'd an idiot right.¨

¨yes! and  I happen to be an idiot who can hear you! You know that right?¨ a yell came from from the kitchen.

¨you know you don't have to yell if you can hear  us when we're talking normally,¨ sunny shouted back.

¨okay let's calm down guys.¨ Orion said in a flustered  tone as he made his way to the kitchen for a glass of water. He grabbed  a cup turned on the sink and waited for the water to reach the top, as he took a seat at the counter he saw the twins playing rock paper scissors to see who would get the last cookie in the jar. It was moments like this that reminded Orion that they were all very different but how it all works out in the end. But honestly if they were told that they were adopted they would all believe it.

Even though the three  were related they all looked so different you wouldn't have thought they were related unless someone told you. Sunny looked exactly like their father with her  dark brown eyes and light brown hair. she has their moms very calm in control of everything persona .  But unlike their mother and father she had a lot of optimism and was very out going. Sunny also had the fashion sense of no other person in their family. She had her hair pulled into two braids that reached down to her waist. She was wearing a neon green beanie a black overall dress over a white shirt and black ankle boots that she had splatter painted with neon paint before the school year started. Which made sense because of her ability to be able to let people feel her emotions I guess her outfits do the same.

Nix on the other hand looked entirely different he had their moms wavy ginger hair and her hazel brown eyes. Orion wasn't quite sure  from who Nix adopted  some of his character traits like him being overly obnoxious from time to time but he would just tell himself that he is just being a brother. Nix was also a very realistic type of thinking person which they were told he adopted that from their fathers brother. Nix´s fashion sense was simple just like Orion´s a sweater or hoodie and jeans on a regular daily bases and a white dress shirt and black dress pants and shoes for celebrations and such. and as for his ability he is able to speak telepathically to other people. Which I quote on quote from Nix ¨It is not the same thing as being able to read  another persons thoughts, get it right people!¨

And as for Orion he had his father´s and sister´s brown hair and  his grandpa´s blue eyes from his mother´s side, he had never met the man because he had died when he was three. But  his mother had told him many great stories about him and their crazy road and camping trips. He could always feel the joy that she had every time she talked about him which brings us to his abilities and that is to be able to feel the emotions of other people around him.

Sunny ended up wining rock paper scissors and the last cookie which then she took her great time  trying to finish eating it. The twins got all settled in for homework when the sound of the doorbell rung. ¨ding dong.¨

who could that be Orion thought he went to go answer the door but saw letters scattered all over the floor. His hands started shaking as he picked them up and sorted through them he felt like he was suffocating but that was probably because he was holding his breath  and that's when he saw it. it  was the letter.

¨who is it.¨ Sunny asked behind  him then she saw the letter in his hand. ¨is that it,¨ she asked. He only nodded in response.

the letter was now in the middle of the counter the three of them surrounding it. they leaned in towards the middle where the letter lied and they kept transitioning back and forth from looking at each other and the letter. ¨Just open the letter already,¨ Nix said tired of the wait.

¨I can´t, we need to wait for mom and dad to come home.¨ Orion shot back.

¨Well if were surrounding the letter like this we will never make it before mom and dad come.¨ Nix´s voice already sounded impatient.

¨I have an Idea¨ sunny snatched the letter from the counter as she saw that it was all eyes on her she explained her plan. ¨How about I hide the letter.¨

Their faces were blank,¨I don't follow.¨ Orion was clearly confused.

¨ you and Nix will go wait in the bathroom while I hide the letter so even of you wanted to open the letter you could't because you wouldn't know where it is.¨ she further explained.

¨Oh now it makes sense no one would know where the letter is except for you and you wouldn't tell us where it is because you don't tell us anything. Also unlike us you have patience so you wouldn't have any desire to open the letter yourself,¨ Nix concluded.

  ¨exactly,¨ Sunny folded her arms and leaned against the wall. ¨now go to the bathroom.¨ she said waiting for them to leave. The boys had made there way to the bathroom and waited. Orion tapped his foot as he waited and he could hear Nix muttering under his voice, he was muttered about why they agreed to wait in the bathroom.a couple of minuets passed by then they heard the doorknob rattle  and Sunny opened the door.¨Okay guys you can come out now.¨ they left the bathroom then Orion noticed that they didn't actually wait that long that must have meant Sunny had already planned  everything and only told them after she figured everything out. ¨See now you can start on dinner without having  to worry so much.¨ sunny pointed to the kitchen then walked back to where she was sitting to finish her homework.  Dinner he had almost forgot and it was almost time for his parents to get off of work he had to hurry.

sizzle ski¨ the oil started to bubble and jump as he added the onions and green bell peppers. He stood in front of the stove and started stirring and with every movement the pan sizzled in response. the onions started to caramelize on the edges then he started adding his garlic, salt,  pepper, and just a bit of soy sauce.  He didn't know why but there was nothing better than the smell of garlic being cooked, he leaned closer to the pan the steam hit his face his eyes started to sting he backed away and blinked a couple of times. He turned down the heat and went to the fridge and got the leftover ground beef from yesterdays dinner. His mom hated when he didn't use the leftovers she called it ¨a waste of food.¨ he scooped it out of the container it all fell at once all the cold fat holding it together as it reached the pan you could see the fat melt. He grabbed a lid and covered the pan and checked on his butter rice. before you judge it is actually pretty good I would know iv´e had it myself. ¨It's almost done a couple of more minuets and it should good,¨ he told himself. he moved back to the pan and saw that all the fat melted and now looked just like the oil he gave it on last stir and turned off the stove.

¨We're home.¨ it was Their  parents. their footsteps going upstairs

¨Hey guys help me set up the table  before they come back down.¨ Orion said already placing  the  plates on the table. The twins closed their computers and added the rest of the cups and utensils.

¨smells good Ori, his dad patted his head and took a seat.

¨Thanks, ¨  he said grabbing the pan and added it to the pot combining it all together. ¨when do you think mom will be down.¨ Orion turned around .

¨She's talking a shower so she won't be down for a while.¨ his dad answered. Orion was a bit disappointed  he wanted  them for them to be together a bit sooner.

his dad turned to the twins ¨so ho was school today.¨

¨well I got an A on my math test today.¨ sunny said and took a seat  at the table..

¨ If you want to know what school is like every day well i´ll tell you in Health we learn about drugs,in Math we learn about the most useless things ever to be honest if you know how to do the basic four Math expressions which is addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. for fractions and decimals besides that it is all useless . In science we learn about the many ways we are going to die in the future,  and there are actually  a lot of  ways, social studies gives us all the reasons to hate america and re points why it sucks. and  English... wait I don´t have any complaints about English.¨ nix  took a dramatic breath in sat down in a chair and let out a big sigh.

  ¨ You done there buddy.¨ their  dad asked.

  ¨yes  i'm done.¨ nix replied stretching his hand out on the table.

¨You can start serving dinner now,¨ a yell came from upstairs. yes Orion thought it was almost time he could finally know the answer.

  ¨watch out guys.¨ he placed the pot in the center of the table and started serving.

¨Looks good.¨ his dad commented the twins nodded in agreement with their mouths watering. The three started to eat to happy to say anything.

¨Don´t stop now.¨ their mom said taking a seat. ¨now who wants to do prayer.¨

The twins pointed at their father, ¨he ate first.¨

¨Just like that, okay I´ll do prayer¨ they all crossed their arms  Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the opportunity of  letting me and my wife come home and see our children. I ask that you bless our family and the food and the hands that helped prepare it. Please bless that it will nourish our bodies and that we will wake up tomorrow amen.¨

¨Amen¨ they  all said in union. The twins and their father went back to eating. and Orion finally sat down after serving his mother.

¨so How's  the case  mom .¨he asked

¨It was a piece of cake. after after yesterdays session I was able to get 50% of the picture and I nitpicked out all the things that didn't add up then I asked the most careless friend to come to the podium used some reverse psychology and a couple of sentences later I got the  both of them in jail.¨

¨congrats honey I told you could do it.¨ his dad kissed her on the cheek.

¨Don't you think that was two easy.¨ Sunny asked.

¨ Not really it wasn't one of my big cases and some are just really easy the more you start to overthink the farther from the truth you get.¨ she explained further on how she handled her cases and the noise started to slowly fade out. Orion didn't have much interest in his mothers job and if you haven´t figured it out already she is a lawyer. He always found it boring to be stuck in a court room trying to prove someone who you don't know is incontinent based on science and facts, he just thought such an intense environment wasn't a place for him. And his dad´s job didn't internist him either he didn't hate his job and thought it was smart that his dad choose a job that fell to his favor because of his ability which is to speak and understand multiple languages. So he ended up being a court translator which is why his parents came back from work together.

his mom turned to him¨so why butter rice?¨ Her voice snapped him back to reality.

¨I just thought it was a while since I made it.¨ he replied

¨Really because from what I can gather you only make this on special occasions.¨ she said.

¨What are you trying to imply.¨"Orion asked

¨ It came didn't it,¨ you could hear the excitement in her voice.

¨Yes.¨ he said all the anxiety coming back.

¨Where is it? Did you get in?¨ she asked her mouth pinching at the corner of her mouth trying to hide her excitement and it wasn't working all it did was make him worry even more what if he didn't get in? what if his parents ignored him if he didn't get in? What was he going to do if he didn't get in.

  sunny could see her brother so she answered instead ¨ We don't know if he got in and he doesn't know where it is. I'm the only one who knows where it is.¨

¨well go get it.¨ she said shooing her away from the table.

Sunny looked back at her brother before she left to go retrieve the letter. Their father then felt like ho should probably say something to reassure Orion that he wasn't going to probably get in and if he doesn't that he will not be given the death penalty or be shunned by the family.  ¨Before anything happens Orion i'm already so proud of you to have come this far. and cross our fingers that you will make it in. but remember If you don't get in you are still mine and your mother¨s son and nothing will change that and we will be here until you figure out your next move.¨

¨Thanks dad.¨ his voice quivering and tears  to forming in his eyes.  then his brother turned to him yea there is no way that you didn't get in. even though his mouth didn't move his voice is what then let all the tears run down. He didn't want to live in a world where he is left all alone. This is something that constantly eats up at him and the mixture of emotions he feels always confuses him on what are the emotions that are his and the emotions of others so he was never at peace with himself. his mother placed a glass of water in front of him and told him that he should drink some he obeyed and wiped his tears with the sleeve of his sweater.

Sunny walked letter in hand ¨well here it is.¨ she walked towards Orion grabs his hand and placed the letter in his palm. ¨It's going to be fine.¨ she leaned against the counter behind him.

He  looked at the letter in his hand and poked a hole at the corner his finger there inside the envelope lets just get this over with he thought and slides his finger  down the envelope making a steady tearing sound. he pulled out the paper inside it was folded into three parts the ends of the paper meeting in the middle. he lifted the top fold and saw in printed letters the  Meditor Collage of  intellectual arts. he scans the paper and finds the red letters "we are here to inform you that you have been excepted."            "guys I got excepted." he said not fully realizing what he just said.

"wait you got excepted." sunny repeated "you got excepted." she was jumping up and down. he  still couldn't make out her words but her energy told him everything he needed to know.

everyone started jumping up in down repeating," you got excepted! you got excepted!"

after a couple of glasses of cider and phone calls later the excitement died down  a bit the twins were washing the dishes and his parents were talking in the living room so he decided to go upstairs

He was now sitting crisscross in the middle on his bed and started scanning his room it was hard to believe that by the end of the summer he would no longer be in this room he would be in the dorms with his roommate taking the next big step into his life. he glanced at the clock checking the time it was 7:00 "damn it's still pretty early." - his eyes shifted to the the blue book besides the clock. It was the English book that he had tried reading earlier-"The Great Gatsby"- 'it is set on long Island during the jazz age and how a boy named  Nick Carraway meets the millionaire jay and his obsession of reuniting with his former lover."

'i guess I better get this over with." Orion grabs the book and snuggles up in his blanket and starts reading. by the time it was 9:30 he had finished the book, he placed it on the nightstand turning off the lamp. He was excited and nervous about what would happen after a couple  of months and drifted to sleep.
