Monday morning is the busiest day at Beatancy High School. Around half past seven in the morning, a group of student had flocked into the school gate which was painted red with a circle craved on the top.
At eight o’clock the gate will be closed and the lesson will start, not for the student council, the entire student council sat at white table. Not only members, all student council administrators and tutors sit in the line of hardworking-faced students. They are currently discussing the annual Beatancy High School event.
This year, the current student council president has a new idea to add the series of events, and this idea has received approval from the supervisor, and it is to add seminar to the series of events. This seminar is planned to bring in a keynote speaker, famous capital city artist. For the seminar, the student council president has appointed a separated committee who is responsible for conducting the seminar. The name that come out were Leah, Althan, Grace, Mia, Darcy and Evie. The student council room was suddenly silent when the student council president mentioned Evie name, all the students gaze were fixed on the last chair on the large student council room table.
Evie is type a student who is smart and hardworking. She actually was a completely normal student, like all student. In fact she looks friendlier than the other student. It’s just that all her advantages make other students envies, and try to knock her down.
For a few minutes, all the students in the room stared at Evie. Shock, displeasure and hearted dominated the face. Evie straightened her seat, some of students interrupted and reject the decision also questioned Evie participation in the seminar event. However, the student’s council committee has decided. All the students left, except for Leah, Grace, Althan, Darcy and Mia. They held Evie when she was leaving the room.
“We only have about three weeks. In my opinion we’ll just decide composition of the committee now." Leah stood near the chair that had been occupied by the student council president. Darcy and Althan who are the men in the committee sit next to each other, and Grace joins Mia. They sat on the other side. Evie walked hesitantly towards Grace and Mia's chair, her eyes alternately looking at them.
"Who do you think will be the chairman of the committee?" Leah continue.
"Me, I've never been a leader before." Grace raised her hand with a smile.
Mia deftly lowered Grace's hand, "If you have a leader like you, the seminar will be disbanded."
Althan and Darcy laughed, so did Leah. Meanwhile, Evie was confused about what to do. She wanted to laugh too but she was worried that her laughter would make their jokes not funny. Evie knew them very well. She'd been in the same class in first grade, and by the first week she was pretty sure they never liked her. Every time she voluntarily worked on the questions given by the teacher in front of the class very accurately (without errors), instead of the admiration she received, she actually reaped insults and arrogant assumptions.
"If there are boys who want to be chairman of the committee, don't they?” Mia interrupts their joke.
"No, what are you doing. My life is already busy enough, don't add it." Althan tapped his finger on the table surface several times, he was a really busy student.
Not the busy type that comes from a pile of assignments or long study hours, but busy spending time with friends gathered at the most popular hangout spots. Perhaps the only activity Althan can say well is his passion for sports, especially football. He always makes time to play ball every day, making his body look very athletic and well-built. His handsome face, and broad chest made him quite famous in school. However, it was his skill in playing football that made him even more famous, several football matches he (and his team) won. He is quite successful in the field of sports.
"If Althan doesn't want to, what about Darcy?" Leah's gaze turned to Darcy. Darcy was surprised, his eyelids widened and his body lifted.
"Well, not me. I don't want to. How about you? Don’t make it complicated." Darcy seems to throw something at Leah.
"So how is it?" asked Leah again.
"Never mind, you're way better than Grace or me. I agree." Mia leaned forward slightly, the others nodded their heads as if agreeing with her words.
"You're not very happy if I become chairman of the committee, are you?" said Grace, glancing at Mia, such a dangerous glance. Like the glance of a snake.
"It's a fact, Grace. Leah fits better." Mia didn't want to lose, she patted Grace's shoulder.
"Just accept it, Grace. You better keep selling cosmetics don’t worry," sneered Darcy from the other side, Althan was heard chuckling slightly at him next to Darcy.
"Ah, you all really envy me." Grace threw her body in surrender.
"So, do you agree that I'm the chairman of the committee?" Leah looked at her friends.
She took a deep breath when she saw the approving expressions on her friends' faces. "So, has it been decided that I am the chairman of the committee? So I have full rights to determine all of your duties," Leah's voice had started to get loud, just like a minister was giving a speech.
"Yes, yes," Grace replied.
It seems that at that time no one noticed that Evie was sitting between them, she was like an unseen ghost figure in the room. Evie just sat with her head down, her body seemed transparent. She had watched fauna shows on television, and seen how a chameleon blended into the background. She began to think that was what she was now, blending into the background.
The discussion is getting more serious, now Leah as the committee chairman is considering the duties of her friends. Like a judge who is calculating the punishment for the defendant based on the background, and the actions that have been done.
"Althan, I'll assign you logistics, okay. So all kinds of needs, and the things we need for the event are your responsibility. Do you agree?"
Althan shrugged his shoulders, he had no choice but to agree. "I only take care of the important stuff, okay? Nothing more?" he added in a lazy tone of voice.
Leah's gaze turned to Grace. "Grace, you are the field coordinator. So you are the one who organizes the event, and you are the time keeper so that the event is on time. How about it?"
"I just want to, as long as everyone agrees." As she spoke, Grace deliberately glanced at Mia.
"Come on, don't be angry. You're so cool, Grace." Mia smiled widely and hugged Grace from the side.
"Well, Mia and Darcy will help take care of the participants, such as adjusting the sitting position, and distributing the microphone during the question and answer section. The rest we do together. For example, decorating or arranging chairs." Leah spoke without pause.
"Looks like we're going to be really tired. I regret going to the student council." Darcy rested his head on his folded hands on the table.
"Don't be surprised, what do you expect from student council?" said Althan.
"So everyone agrees, huh?" Leah ask.
Althan, Darcy, and Grace agreed in unison.
However, suddenly Mia interrupted, "Psssttt.... psstttt....Leah," whispered Mia.
"What?" Leah immediately answered.
Mia didn't say anything, she just signaled with her eyes that Evie was sitting with them (only a few seats from Mia). They suddenly realized that Evie was with them at the time, but they didn't show any bad feelings at all. They still look calm, and cold. While Evie could only hear and pay attention to the things that were rolling around her, she occasionally glanced at them from between her forehead.
"Oh yes, Evie." Leah's loud voice echoed throughout the room.
Evie raised her head, and answered with plain and stupid answer, "Yes, I'm here."
Grace burst out laughing, "Yes, you are there. Where have you been all this time?" A second later Darcy, Althan, and Mia laughed too.
Evie just stared blankly at them, her straight hair moving forming a wave every time she moved her head.
"What's a good job for you?" Leah paused for a moment before continuing again.
"Oh yeah, it's your job to take care of the speakers. So you negotiate the payment, arrange the schedule, and make sure the speakers arrives on time. Anyway, the speakers is all your responsibility, because we're already busy with our respective tasks.
“Do you agree?" Leah's question at the end of her sentence was more like a verdict that Evie couldn't help but accept, she is a judge and Evie is the defendant.
"Okay then.” Evie answered in a weak voice. She surrendered.
"Well then, everyone agrees. After we disband we have to get to work immediately." Leah took her notes from the table. "Good job," she concluded.
After closing the room, she saw Grace turning to her. "Good job, okay." Accompanied by a really bitter smile.
In the past, Evie's late grandfather had told her to drink the coffee without sugar that she used to drink, Evie was surprised by the fact how bitter the coffee was. Her grandfather smiled seeing Evie's expression that couldn't stand the coffee the bitterness. Now she knew what was bitterer than her grandfather's coffee: Grace's smile then. Grace's congratulations to work were like the words, "It's good to have a tough job." On her head. Grace and her friends disappeared around a bend in the classroom hallway, close to the first grade room.
Evie was quite grateful they were no longer walking in the same direction, Evie's classroom was on the second floor. She walked in the opposite direction from them because the school stairs were to the left of the student council room. At least Evie didn't have to see their faces all day, a few good things she could be grateful for today.
The night had just fallen, the sunlight had disappeared about two hours ago. At her house, Evie is having dinner. She was used to eating alone. In that big house, she only lived with a domestic worker who had worked with her family before she was born. Her name is Julia, a fifty-five year old woman who still looks fit, no signs of aging on her body. At first glance, one would think that she was only in her early forties because of her sturdy body. Julia's movements are still nimble, and her brain is still working normally. She was Evie's family finances were her responsibility. Since the death of Evie's father about five years ago, all the family affairs have become the responsibility
Evie's family is a well-to-do family, her late father working in an oil drilling company. Even though her father used to be out of town most of the time, their relationship was very close. Her father, mother, and sister has a very close relationship. The funny thing is, they rarely get together. Evie's mother also works as a manager at a contracting company, and her sister continues her undergraduate education outside Olivia's city only to come home during semester breaks, maybe once a year or at most twice a year. Evie is the only member of the family who spends the most time at home.
When she was in middle school, she came home at one o'clock in the afternoon. Usually she spends time reading books or repeating what she has learned. When she doesn't want to do that, she just listens to music until she falls asleep.
Now that her father has died, her mother is still working as a manager at a contractor company. The different thing is that now Olivia has returned with a bachelor's degree in hand, and has been accepted to work as a public relations officer in an educational institution. Olivia had returned to live at home, but she often came home late at night. Doesn’t change things much. Evie scooped up her food slowly, and chewed carefully when the food reached her mouth. From the kitchen came the sound of knocking plates several times.
"Just eat here, Julia. Accompany me." Evie turned towards the kitchen, her guess was right. Julia is eating in the kitchen. "Please accompany me, I am lonely eating alone. “She took the glass filled with water, her throat began to have difficulty swallowing food.
The sound of tapping plates stopped, Julia's figure emerged from the kitchen. She carried a plate in her right hand, and a glass of water in her left. Julia smiled at Evie, and so did Evie. It was as if there was a strong bond between them, more so than a domestic worker and her boss. The bond was more like that of a grandson and grandma.
Julia placed her plate and glass on the table and sat down next to Evie. "Your mother and Olivia haven't come home yet?" she started to stir her food.
"Not yet, maybe come home late again. That's usually the case, right?" Evie began to feed food into her mouth.
As a teenager, Evie needed someone who could support her. When her late father was still alive, her father was her support. Almost every day they talked on the phone for hours when her father was out of town. If her father was at home, they would spend time together in the living room watching television. Her father was often out of town. However, when not out of town, she returned home in the afternoon, two hours after Evie returned. No wonder they often spend time together while waiting for her mother to come home. Evie was born into a busy family, and rarely had time to be together.
However, she never regretted it, because she knew her parents did that to ensure that her and Olivia's future was secure. When they get the chance to spend time together, the family uses every second they get together. No time is wasted, they sometimes go on vacation or have dinner together. Her father loves to burn chicken and beef in their yard. At that time, her mother and Julia had a duet to cook amazingly delicious meals. Her parents also invited their neighbors to join. Their house was bustling with neighbors and close relatives who came, bringing the busy little family back to life.
Evie misses her late father. She sometimes wondered where her father was now. Does he also miss his beloved daughter? Her mother and Olivia knew that her father loved Evie very much, they didn't mind at all. They understood each other, they already knew why her father loved Evie so much without having to explain. Evie is indeed a smart child, but she is so fragile. Like a butterfly that has an amazing pattern, but can be destroyed with just the touch of a finger.
"Evie, you seem really lethargic. What's wrong? “Julia’s question brought Evie back to the dining room of her house.
"It's nothing, ma'am. I'm just tired maybe."
Evie has never and will never possibly recount all the stress she felt as a smart kid at her school to Julia. If only her father were still alive, maybe he would have poured it out on her. How tired she was of the sarcasm, and the cynical gaze directed at her when he got a perfect test score, or she was chosen as the kid who got the first champion in her class. So much praise for always being a smart teenager, but so much more taunts and sharp glances. And it's not easy.
Julia stroked Evie's hair gently. When her fingers touched her forehead, she could feel the warmth of Julia's fingers, warm but rough. The rubbing of Julia's fingers was like a cold water wash on the surface of the severely burned skin, so cold but it did not relieve the pain at all. The pain is still there, not going anywhere.
"Don't be too tired, okay. You will be sick. Do you want me to make hot tea after this?" Julia's blue eyes stared at Evie.
When she saw Julia's face, Evie felt a little calm. The face full of wrinkles behind the graying hair was very calm and warm.
"Thank you" replied Evie slowly.
Tears almost dripped from her eyes, she wanted to hug Julia and cry as much as he could. However, she was afraid things would get worse if she did that. Julia will know all the difficulties she faces. Julia was tired of taking care of her family's household, she didn't want to add to it.
Evie knew that Julia really thought her family was her own when her mother wanted to retire her, but with her famously calm expression on her face she refused. She still wanted to work with the family, because she knew that the family still needed her. Especially after the death of the head of the family. When Evie saw Julia's gaze when expressing her refusal, she felt that she had found someone who was truly loyal to her work and at the same time loved her family.
After dinner, Evie took her dishes to the sink. She was about to wash it herself, Julia stopped her.
"I will do it, you just go up and rest” She said. Evie went up to her room and sat on her study table. Evie's room was beige and wooden floors. Corner of the room, close to her study table. While her wardrobe stands on the side of her bedroom door. Many photos are plastered on the walls of her room, most of them are with her father, mother, and Olivia. Some of the photos are pictures of her with some friends in the past.
She read several textbooks, and did some practice questions at the end of each material. Her cellphone was lying not far from her textbooks, she rarely checked her cellphone if there were no SMS or calls. Evie was never interested in her cell phone, even if it was a smartphone. When teenagers her age are busy surfing or just writing on social media, Evie is even more distant from her smart phone. She prefers to drown herself between textbooks. In fact, she also has a personal account on social network, but she rarely uses it. She only greets her old friends or Olivia.
At the same time, in their respective homes. Grace, Mia, and Leah were busy tweeting. Grace sat in her living room with the television on. She didn't watch at all, her eyes were glued to her smartphone. Her thumb kept dancing on the buttons of her cell phone, occasionally she chuckled. The situation is not much different from what Leah and Mia did.
They lay on their bed with smart phones in their hands, it turns out they are replying to tweets on. It all started with Grace's tweet about thirty minutes ago, a tweet that contains:
@Grace: I didn't think I could be as loyal as anyone.
A tweet that Mia saw and she added.
@Mia: @Grace Yes, I'm really lazy. Why try her must enter the committee?
Grace smiled when a notification came into her cellphone, she replied.
@Grace: @Mia she is already fat, and Mrs. Know It All. Do you still remember how she pretended to know when she was in grade 1?
Mia's face changed, she recalled how jealous and annoyed she was when Evie was able to answer all the questions given by the math teacher. Evie took home the entire value of the day, leaving nothing for anyone else. Mia looks annoyed when she replies to Grace's tweet.
@Mia: @Grace Yes, it's true, at that time I'm too tired for that body. I'll deflate the body then hahaha.
Grace's laughter broke when she read the sentence "I'm too tired for that body", she was even more eager to reply to Grace's tweet. However, before she had time to reply, it turned out that Leah had replied to their tweet first.
@Leah: @Grace @Mia just deflated her body, or you broke her pimples xixixi.
@Grace: @Leah @Mia eww, I'm disgusted to see her acne. It's so disgusting eww, why not you just break the pimple? *evil laugh*
Mia quickly replied to the tweet that seemed more and more interesting.
@Mia: @Grace @Leah let's just do it, make her body thin all of a sudden hahaha.
Grace, Leah, and Mia used twitter to release their evil thoughts that had been running through their heads when Evie was first elected to the seminar committee. They held back the thoughts, but the embankment holding them back collapsed at the sight of Grace's chirping. One thing they forgot that night: everyone on their timeline saw all their tweets. People who agree with them will find their tweets funny and entertaining. However, those who don't agree will really regret their tweets. However, the worst thing is: Evie is one of their followers and she cries while reading their tweets.
Evie burst into tears after reading the tweet, her chest burning hot. A heavy weight seemed to squeeze her, making it difficult for her to breathe and occasionally choking. Her stomach was queasy, and a sour sensation rose to her throat. Make it feel wanted to throw up, while tears kept falling from her eyes. She slapped her hand several times against the surface of her study table to reduce the emotions simmering within her.
Olivia opened the door to Evie's room, she was shocked and tried to wipe her tears. It turned out that Olivia had come home, and she had brought Evie's favorite tuna-topped pizza.
"Here, sister brought pizza," Olivia said with a face who is happy.
However, all of that was lost when she got a strange attitude from Evie, "What are you doing, Evie?"
Olivia slammed the pizza she brought to the floor, and run to Evie. "You cry, huh? Who made you cry?”
Olivia lifted Evie's face so she could clearly see her sister's face, Evie tried to let go of her face and looked down again to wipe her tears.
"Its okay, Sis. I'm not crying," said Evie. "Don't lie! I know you're crying. Why? What's wrong?"
Evie couldn't help it, Olivia clearly felt her face wet and her eyes puffy.
"Its okay, Sis. Earlier I got news my old friend father is dead, I'm so sad, I remember dad."
Evie was forced to use her own wound as a shield. That way, Olivia will believe and won't trying to find out. Olivia knew that her sister was devastated by the death of their father. So it is not surprising that she cried when she heard her friend's father died.
"Well then, don't think about it anymore. Father must have happy there." Olivia's voice softened, she rubbed Evie's shoulder a few times and sat on Evie's bed.
"You've eaten, haven't you?" Olivia asked as she played with the little teddy bear lying next to Evie's pillow.
"Yes, Sis. Just now," answered Evie slowly, she left from her study table and sat down next to her brother.
"Well, even though you already brought your favorite tuna pizza. I wanted to invite you to eat together, but never mind if you have eaten. I will eats alone."
Olivia took the pizza box and put it on her thigh, and opened the box slowly.
"I want the pizza." Evie smiled and looked at her sister.
"You want one? Really?" Olivia has to convince herself again that her sister did not want to.
"Yes, Sis. I just ate a little bit. It's okay to skip the diet once in a while, right? The pizza looks delicious after all." Evie laughs small, small laugh between the wounds.
"Well, then let's eat. We're not really fit for a diet." Olivia pinched Evie's plump, springy cheeks.

"Where's Althan, anyway? How come this hour he hasn't come yet?" asked Leah.
Darcy, who was sitting in front of her, shrugged his shoulders, then he continued to cut some decorations for the decoration of the seminar which would be held in two weeks. They also began to prepare everything needed, decorations, tables and chairs, and gifts for questions and answers.
"Maybe he's playing football, sometime. He's playing football almost every day." Mia tried to guess, and it seemed he was right. Althan is someone who is crazy about football.
"Even though it's late? But he hasn't come yet." Grace, who was wrapping gifts one by one for people who asked questions at their seminar, added.
"Well come on, just wait. He'll be here in a minute, don't worry. He's really a busy person." Darcy tried to calm Leah.
A few minutes later Althan appeared in front of the main door of the school hall, holding a pink cotton candy. He pinched the cotton candy a few times, and slowly popped it into his mouth. The soft cotton candy melted in his mouth as it touched the walls of his mouth, spreading sweetness all over his mouth.
"Looks like we're busy," Althan teased. He was no longer wearing the school uniform, he was wearing a plain white T-shirt that showed his broad chest. However, he still wore trousers, and a sling bag hanging from his body. The school uniform must be in that bag.
"Well, he just came, where have he been, you?" Darcy looks relieved. "That's fine," Althan replied curtly and then walked over the large hall. "Help me pack gifts, Althan." said Grace when Althan stood under the stage at the end of the hall.
"Okay," Althan replied, then he went up on stage. "You want?” Althan offered his cotton candy to Leah when he was through it.
"I will," it didn't take long for Leah to answer. She took the candy in Althan's hand, then joined Darcy in preparing the decorations.
Althan sat cross-legged beside Grace, his strong hands picking up a bunch of scattered items to put together in a plastic wrap. When Althan was doing his work, Grace's eyes couldn't stop looking at Althan's face. Althan was so charming to Grace. Althan's jaw that looked firm but soft, and his straight hair that formed big waves in the front made her drunk. From where he sat, she could smell Althan's sweet scent. The scent is so soft and light. Makes her so calm and falls deeper and deeper into her attraction to Althan. When she smelled Althan's body, somehow possible, he smelled the scent of a meadow filled with colorful flowers and a cold breeze. Althan's body scent is right really hypnotized him at that moment, made him want to hug Althan tightly as soon as possible and inhale the scent from only a few centimeters away. Grace's palms trembled at the thought of stroking Althan's arms, which were perfectly formed by the muscles of a man's masculinity. Grace drifted off to land.
"What's wrong, Grace? Is there something wrong with me?" Althan's voice shattered Grace's thoughts like a shattered mirror.
"No, why? It's nothing." Grace trying to cover up her heart was beating fast, and her desire was so strong when near Althan.
"Oh" replied Althan very calmly. He put things back in the plastic wrap. Althan's calm demeanor has made every girl fall in love, including Grace. The serenity was both stunning and elegant at the same time. Like an expensive and classy suit.
"I hope Evie does a good job." Leah looked at Mia.
"She have to. Otherwise she will regret it. All of our good names are in this seminar. If this seminar is destroyed, then she is also destroyed." Mia spoke in a threatening tone.
Leah chuckled, so did Darcy.
"Ah, how can a kid like that work. I'm sure she's still sitting in her room right now. She doesn't know what to say to lobby the candidate for our show." Grace on purpose lowered her lips as she spoke to show that Evie was a lousy person.
"We'll see. Tomorrow there will be an evaluation from the student council president and the supervising teacher. If she can't show progress at all, she's out of the seminar committee." Darcy cut a piece of paper to form a circle.
"Have you done your own work yet, Grace?" Althan glanced at Grace, making her heart beat faster.
"Yes. I have booked the seats for the participants. One day before the event, the school guards and security guards will arrange them." Grace's tone was like that of a five-year-old trying to convince her mother that she was doing better than her sister to earn more praise from her mother.
"How about yourself, Althan?" Grace replied to Grace's glance. "I've ordered snacks, two kinds. One for the participants, and the other for speakers and invitees. In the morning before the event starts, everyone is already in the queue, and I have put other necessary items behind the stage. You'll see for yourself if not. Trust me, everything is ready even though the event is still two weeks away." Althan spoke without pausing at all, leaving Grace pensive in awe of his authoritative voice.
"It's good if everything is ready. Faster less chance of events failing, except for this Evie. Until now there has been no news." Leah threw the star-shaped cardboard she had cut out. "We'll see tomorrow," Darcy repeated his words again.
___
"So, how far have you prepared for the seminar?" the student council president opened the discussion forum that afternoon.
"Preparations are about 70 percent, only a few executions of funds and logistics are left at the event." Leah spoke calmly but clumsily, some of her voice slipping to a strange sound.
"Can we see the report?" the student council president looked at her. Leah collected reports from Mia, Darcy, Althan, Grace, and finally Evie. Then she gave it to the student council president.
When receiving a pile of reports from the seminar committee team, the student council president took one report and put the others on the table. He opened the report, read it for a while and distributed it to other administrators and supervisors. Everything went like that until the last report, they read carefully every report given by Leah.
Across from them, Grace looked happy. She imagined when the student council administrator and the supervising teacher read the report from Evie and found that she could not find a single speaker who filled the event for this seminar. Evie will definitely be kicked out of this committee, everyone knows that lobbying speakers is difficult, especially if they are a city-wide artist.
The student council administrator and the supervising teacher finally finished checking all the reports for the seminar from various sections they were still silent. The student council president nodded his head slowly
"All the reports seem good. It went well, the preparations were well done. All the necessities were well prepared. The student council secretary smiled with satisfaction, and scratched the surface of the table with his fingers. Overall, Leah caught a satisfaction from the student council administrator. Finally she could take a deep breath. .
"But especially for Evie...." the student council president glanced at Evie. Evie was taken aback, her shoulders rising and falling.
"Get lost" whispered Mia who was sitting next to her, "It's over.”
"As the student council president, I am very proud to know that Evie can invite Alexander as a speaker with a relatively minimal budget. You must have worked hard, we are very happy when we read your report. Surely the seminar will be busy." The student council president smiled at Evie as did the other administrators and tutors.
Evie was embarrassed by the compliment. She was confused whether to be happy to hear that or even regret it. Leah, Grace, and Mia simultaneously turned to Evie. They were shocked and furious, once again Evie's cleverness had destroyed their credibility. Just like when they were in first grade, when chemistry lessons took place. Their teacher at that time divided all his students into study groups, and gave those assignments to research certain compounds. Leah, Grace, and Mia who are in the same study group (they are always together) make a presentation that they think is perfect and will win praise for their teacher's admiration.
However, Evie ruined everything. She innocently raised her hand and exposed all the mistakes they had made to their research. They had an argument with Evie about it, but then their teacher said that Evie was right (theoretically Evie was right, without any defense).
Leah, Grace, and Mia were really humiliated at that time. Instead of the praise they get, but instead laughter that comes barrage. Make their group the dumbest group in the class.
"Well, it looks like you all have worked well together. So this meeting ends here. Thank you for coming and good work!" close the student council president. They also rose from their seats, and briefly greeted Evie before leaving the room. Evie smiled loosely as she was with them. That smile was like a leech that couldn't leave her face. All administrators and supervising teachers had left the room, leaving her with the seminar team. Leah, Grace, Darcy, Althan, and Mia got up and walked out of the room. When they crossed paths with Evie, they stared at her intently and full of anger. They really wanted to explode seeing Evie's success.
"Watch out...!," Grace whispered as she stood in front of Evie. Althan came out last, but it didn't say anything. He didn't do anything, and his face still looked calm without the slightest fire of anger burning in his eyes.
Darcy is really good at driving, he can get through the suffocating traffic jam and sprint to a mall. The car stopped at the mall's main door, and a security guard opened the passenger door.
"Just get off first, I'll park first. I'll catch up later at the cafe, okay?" Darcy bends his body to approach the window open passengers. "Okay, don't wait too long," Mia replied while closing door, and waved his hand.
The black windows were closed, and Darcy' car sped down the aisle to the mall parking area. It turned out that finding a place to park the car was not an easy task, Darcy really worked hard for it.
"It's called Saturday for nothing," he grumbled as he came down from car.
He pressed a button on the car keys, a few short sirens coming out of his car accompanied by the blink of his four cents. Darcy walked quickly, and entered the mall through a clear glass door in the middle of the parking lot. He glanced at his watch, he had been looking for a parking space for fifteen minutes.
“Mia must be tired of waiting for me," he whispered to himself.
When the cafe where they promised to wait was visible, Darcy quickened his pace. Mia is seen sitting alone on a chair at the side of the cafe, near the glass with a sign Smoking Area. A large glass of Mochaccino Blended is lying on the table, he just put it down after drinking it through a black bendable straw. Did not show a hint of impatience at all, he was still waiting quietly. When he saw Mia, Darcy smiled a little, and walked over to her.
"Why are you so long?." Mia watched Darcy sitting in front of her.
"Sorry, the parking lot was full. It's hard to find a place."
Darcy flicked his finger when he saw a waiter passing by his table, the waiter immediately approached the table.
"What do you want, sir?" the waiter held up a piece of paper, and a pen ready to write. The waitress was a woman in her early twenties, her hair was tied back and was covered by a quirky little white hat. The hat reminded Darcy of the nurse's hat at the hospital.
"I'd like to order some hot black coffee." Darcy smiled a little. "One black coffee, yes. Anything else?" The waitress turned back towards Darcy after finishing writing his order.
"That's all.” say Darcy.
"Okay, please wait for the order, okay?" The waitress put her pen into a large pocket on her apron, smiled lightly and left. For some Mia thought of a kangaroo when he saw the pouched apron, much like a pouch kangaroo.
"Yesterday the kids were really angry with Evie.” Mia opened the beginning of their conversation.
"No wonder, I can see from the expressions of the children. Evie really hit hard." Darcy spoke calmly, without excessive emotion. His hands touched the smooth surface of the table.
"I still can't understand it. How come she lobbied a top artist like Alexander It's really hard to invite him. It's really hard for my friends from other schools to invite him. Mia stops for a moment and spins straws quickly." How can her, with such a budget."
"Maybe she's hockey again." Darcy began to show boredom, he hoped that Mia would talk about something other than Evie's problem.
"Okay, okay. Instead of talking about Evie, let's talk about something else. I'm tired of talking about her first." Darcy interrupted before Mia continued her words again.
The waiter came back, bringing Darcy' order. "This is your order, sir." said the waiter as he put down the coffee. "Thank you," said Darcy slowly. Then the waitress go leave them both.
"I didn't bring you all the way here to talk to her." Darcy lifted the cup, and took a sip of the still warm coffee.
"Yeah, okay. Don't talk about her anymore. After that, I'm really annoyed." Mia's face began to look uncomfortable, several times she tucked the hair that was hanging around his face to her ear.
"Then how is our relationship? We have to keep hiding. I'm getting bored, why can't the others know?" Darcy leaned his body against the support, his eyes stared out the window watching the passersby. The mall was quite crowded, lots of people came to spend their Saturday night.
"When the time is right," Mia's voice began to lower, she so pretty in her white polka dot casual dress.
"When is the right time?" Darcy was still dreaming, he didn't see Mia at all. It was like he was in two worlds at the same time, a part of him was flying into the past. When he was a new student at Beatancy High School, and entered a class that was very foreign to him. He didn't know anyone, and sat alone. Everything was so tasteless to him, until he saw a girl who was so sweet. The girl managed to catch his eye in the rowdy classroom full of strangers, his eyes couldn't stop staring at her. The girl sat in the second seat from the front, but still in the same row. He sat in the back, and the girl of his dreams sat in the back (that very day he knew that she was the girl of his dreams).
Darcy began to strategize to get acquainted with him but he admitted it was a tough mission. It was only in the middle of the first semester that he was able to meet the girl, her name was Mia. They then liked each other, and began a relationship at the end of the second semester.
"Just be patient, it won't take long. I just don't want them to know, that's all." Mia held Darcy' hands which were lying on the table. Darcy changed his sitting position, he bent his body forward.
"Really? Or maybe you're embarrassed that they know about our relationship?" The look in Darcy' eyes hinted at a deep suspicion.
However, then a sweet smile was returned by Mia. Darcy always melts when Mia smiles. The two dimples that always appear when he smiles make Darcy melt instantly.
"I've never been ashamed of this relationship. I really love you. But I don't think now is the right time." Mia rubbed the back of Darcy' hand, and Darcy hurriedly grabbed Mia's hand. They both smile.
The two of them started a new topic of conversation, and it worked. They no longer talked about Evie or their ongoing relationship from their friends. They only talked about the two of them, about how lucky they were to have found each other. The mall gets busier as the night goes on, but of course the crowd can't beat the bustling hearts of two human children who are in love.
Darcy caressed Mia's smooth cheek, and made her look red with embarrassment. Mia replied with a soft stroke on Darcy's fingers. That night they were really happy because they could be themselves. Without having to fear lest their friends see, and begin to be suspicious of the long-standing relationship between them. Suddenly, Mia's cell phone rang, an incoming SMS. She opened it. It turns out that apart from SMS, there are also many mentions in social media. When she opened it, it turned out that it all came from Grace and Leah.
@Grace: @Mia where are you? How come you didn't reply, it's important here.
@Leah: @Mia how come you can't be contacted all day anyway?
Then after the tweet, they wrote again.
@Leah: @Grace yes, it's really annoying @Mia. Every time you need it, you’re gone.
Seeing all their tweets, Mia knew there must be something urgent. She immediately replied to an SMS from Grace.
“I'm sorry Grace, I've been taking my mother shopping for a long time. What is it?”
A few minutes later Grace replied.
“No wonder you can't be contacted or mention back, tonight we're staying at Leah's house, okay? If you have something to say, it's important. You have to come, I'm already on my way.”
"What time is it now?" Mia asked Darcy. Darcy was confused for a moment, then she replied, "It's five to eight, why?"
Mia didn't answer, she then replied to Grace's text,
Okay deb, but I'll probably be there at nine o'clock in the lab. I haven't finished delivering my mom yet. Grace replied to the text again, this time she replied with fast.
“Okay, the important thing is that you have to come. Important.”
Mia put her cellphone back into the small black bag she carried.
"What's the matter?" Darcy is getting confused.
"Usually, Grace asked to stay at Leah's house. She said something important," explained Mia.
"Oh, I see," Darcy only answered slowly.
"Do you want to take me there?" asked Mia in a seductive tone.
"Yes," Darcy answered in a curt tone.
"Don't be mad, ok?" Mia rubbed Darcy' hand.
Five minutes later they left the cafe and mall to go to Leah's house. The whole journey was dominated by silence, the two of them were mostly silent. Not like when they left. Darcy' car stopped at a park which was quite far from Leah's house, about two blocks away. The night was getting late, Darcy watch showed five minutes past nine.
"Thank you, for today. I'm very happy." Mia broke the silence between them.
"You're welcome, I'm glad you like it." Darcy's tone of voice has become friendlier, he seems to be less tired.
Mia kisses Darcy on the cheek as a goodbye and good night. "We'll meet again on Monday, okay. Tomorrow I'll text you when I get home." Mia had time to walk back when she got out of the car, and walked about seven steps from Darcy's car.
"Okay. Be careful, okay?" Darcy smiled, and let Mia leave his car.
Darcy started his car engine, and his car tires made a loud noise when they rubbed against the rocky road.
Leah sat leaning on the back of her bed which was quite large, the size of a double,
The three of them wore shorts over the pants showing their covered body parts. The straight, slender thighs are covered in smooth white skin, without any blemishes. Their bare feet are so seductive. Leah wore a plain white sleeveless shirt, as did Grace. Whereas Mia was wearing a shirt that fit perfectly on her slender body, she didn't really bring any clothes with her. The clothes she wore belonged to Leah, and the clothes she wore when she met Darcy hung behind the bedroom door. They look so beautiful in those personal clothes (clothes they only wear inside the house), their beautiful bodies are so beautiful. Like ripe fruit ready to be picked, or flowers that have bloomed and are ready to be sucked by naughty beetles for their juices. The three of them sank into silence, until the moment Mia gasped. Leah and Grace looked straight at him and then looked at each other as if to give a signal that they were surprised at Mia's attitude.
"What's wrong?" Grace lifted part of her body from the back of the recliner.
"Yeah, what's wrong? How come you seem really surprised," Leah crawled and threw her body at Mia's side.
"Here, Evie tweeted. Look," Leah glanced at her laptop screen, then Grace followed. She got up from her chair and approached them.
They both read Mia's timeline, and saw Evie's twitter account appear among the tweets of Mia's friends.
@Evie: Today is really fun, just happy....
After reading for a few seconds, finally Leah and Grace walked away from the laptop screen. They threw their bodies on the bed.
"I swear, I'm really annoyed to see Evie. Especially at the meeting with the student council management yesterday, what the hell is she doing? I really want to be watched." Leah's facial muscles tightened, her forehead wrinkled.
"That's right, especially me. At that time, Evie's face was very pretentious, because she was able to lobby Alexander for the contents of the event and get praise from the student council management.” Her sharp nails stuck to the sheets she wrapped.
"From the first grade, looking at the teachers' faces so she's called a smart kid." Mia turned off Leah's laptop, closed the screen and placed it on a small table with a drawer right next to the bed so she could join Leah and Grace.
"Looks like we have to take revenge, here. We have to destroy her image once in a while." Leah's eyes stared at the stars that lined the sky in her room, but her mind drifted far beyond the stars.
"Yeah, I agree. We have to embarrass her once in a while when she's looking for face." Grace picked up one of Leah's dolls lying nearby, then hugged the doll. Mia tilted her body to meet Leah and Grace face to face.
“But how do you do it, huh?" asked Leah slowly, with just one breath. No one answered, Mia and Grace were both thinking about how to do it. Neither of them have found a way.
"That's what we have to think about, but what is clear is that this time Evie has to hit the rock." Mia's voice was slightly trembling.
"Anyway, after the seminar, we'll make a plan, okay?" Grace grabbed a few seconds after Mia had finished speaking. "Must," added Grace in a firm voice.
"Don't worry. That's for sure, really. Let's just give her first that she's happy because she can get compliments from the seminar. After this, she's dead. Just watch." Leah looked at her two friends in turn, and the two friends responded with a smile. A smile that wasn't like the usual smile, a full of venom. The venom is so deadly, even deadlier than any snake.
