My Dear Captain

A Flight to City B

At the headquarter of Rising Sun Airlines.

Selina Evans was on the way submitting the flight schedule. Pushing the Captain's door open, she was dragged into a man's arms all of a sudden, and the next second, his lips met hers.

She could only close the door with her leg, kissing him back briefly and then pushing him away. "Enough. We're in your office."

"So what? We've even done it on the plane."

Jerome ignored her objection. He just lowered his head, pressed it close to her neck, and sniffed the scent that only belonged to her.

They had been married for half a year. They were strangers at the beginning and became familiar with each other later. Now they had become very intimate. Jerome had been a gentle and even indulgent husband. Many women envied Selina for that.

"That's not the same. People outside are waiting for a meeting!"

Selina slipped from Jerome's embrace like a cat and said, "I don't want to be the target of public criticism. I especially don't want to be a thorn in your lady fans' side. They always stare at me like tigresses every time I enter your office. They will tear me apart if I stay here for a long time."

Not being able to keep her in his arms, Jerome licked his lips out of boredom and stared at the woman in front of him attentively, "You are afraid of them? Why weren't you afraid of them when we got married?"

He just loved to watch as this woman looked for excuses while pretending she was serious.

Selina hung the flight schedule on the wall, turned around, and smiled sweetly, "Haven't you heard the proverb? Alcohol induces the self-confidence of a coward, and money boosts the courage of a pauper!"

Back then, she signed the contract and agreed to get married to Jerome because she was both drunk and tempted by his wealth.

She brushed up her clothes and reapplied her lipstick in front of a mirror before coming up to him again with satisfaction. She whispered in a seductive voice, "Be a lamb, and I'll let you do whatever you want to do to me when you come home tonight."

After saying that, she wanted to get out of the office.

Jerome suddenly stopped her, "Selina Evans."

She turned around. The smile on her face was fading, because he seldom called her by her full name in private.

"Which one do you prefer? Me or money?" He narrowed his eyes slightly and curled up his lips a bit as if he was trying to suggest something.

Selina blinked mischievously, her eyes sparkling, and said, "You, of course."

Liking Jerome was equivalent to liking money, but liking money was not equivalent to liking him.

Even a fool knew which to choose.

"The meeting will begin in five minutes, my dear Captain!" Selina reminded him of the meeting before turning around to leave.

The look on Jerome's face gradually became serious as he watched the slender and gentle girl go away.

They had been married for half a year. Selina always knew her place and had never broken the contract, despite the subtle changes in their relationship.

Fifteen minutes later, in the conference room.

"There is a temporary flight to City B tonight. I still need one flight stewardess on my flight. Is anyone of you free?"

In the handsome uniform, Jerome stood straight, looking exceptionally charming under lights.

All the flight stewards in the front row were also good-looking, but they all looked plain compared to Jerome.

The flight stewardesses were all drooling over Jerome as usual. They did not even want to waste their time blinking.

But Selina didn't have the mood to appreciate Jerome's appearance. The word 'City B' had perplexed her.

She had been working as a flight stewardess for two years, and she had been avoiding that place carefully. She was afraid that the past that she had forced herself to forget would suddenly come back to her one day. She did not want her heart that had finally healed after a long time to be torn apart again.

"I'm free!" Someone volunteered and raised her hand.

But Jerome ignored her. Instead, he fixed his eyes on the woman who was still in a daze at the corner and said, "Selina Evans from the second group!"

"What?" Selina raised her head in surprise.

"You've never flown to City B, have you?" Jerome spoke tonelessly, and there were no emotions in his voice, "Fly with me tonight."

Before he left, he added, "Rest assured. I'll take care of you since it's your first time!" His words were suggestive, but only Selina could tell.

He said the same thing the night they first had sex.

However, he changed the last bit of his words obligingly to "our first time" when he discovered that Selina was not a virgin that night.

Selina had a lot on her mind. The next thing she knew, the meeting was over!

Jerome texted her, "We can't do it at home tonight. Shall we try doing it in the cockpit?"

He directly made a plan for them both without giving her a chance to refuse.

Selina replied to him quickly before she got up and walked to the bathroom, "Stop it. We shouldn't violate our professional ethics."

Jerome replied, "I don't care about what professional ethics. I just care about you."

Running into her Ex-Boyfriend

"Pervert."

Selina thought of a perfect phrase to describe Jerome: a refined rascal.

Jerome only smiled and did not reply again. He and Selina often have conversations like this. Jerome took it as an interesting couple thing.

Jerome quite enjoyed these conversations and needed them.

"Have you heard of the news about the flight to City B tonight? Hank Peterson chartered the flight for his wife."

"Hank Peterson? The youngest entrepreneur of City B?"

Selina heard two flight stewardesses whispering, just as she entered the bathroom.

She was astounded and felt as if she was hit by lightning when she heard Hank's name.

"Yes. Hank's wife is pregnant. He worries that other captains might not be good enough and the turbulence might hurt his child. So he just bought out the time of the most awesome captain in our company tonight."

"Don't use the phrase 'bought out'. That sounds weird. Captain Harris will punish you if he hears it."

"Don't worry. We're in the ladies' room." The gossiper let out a long sigh and said, "Well, it must feel good to be rich. I wish I can find a husband as rich as Captain Harris...."

"Money is not important. I like Captain Harris' face. He's so cool and handsome!"

...

The sound of gossiping outside had disappeared, and it was so quiet in the bathroom that Selina could even hear her breathing clearly.

Selina locked herself in the bathroom for half an hour. She just sat on the toilet in a daze.

Some fragmentary scenes, as well as the cruel man's face, flashed before her eyes.

At that time, she was six months pregnant and was looking forward to the birth of her child with joy. She thought she was very lucky because she was pregnant with Hank's child after spending just one night with him...

However, he said, "Selina, it wasn't me who slept with you half a year ago. That was an investor of my company. Speaking of which, I have to say thank you to you. My company wouldn't have gone public so smoothly if you hadn't satisfied him...."

Four years had passed. She thought that she had completely forgotten about him. She did not expect that those memories, which she had buried for so long, would come back to her so easily just after she heard a single piece of news about him.

She was suffocating as if someone was strangling her!

At that moment, Selina's phone suddenly vibrated. She got a call from her mother, Tess Mullins.

Selina picked up the phone and Tess immediately began to scold her, "Did Jerome give you the money for this month? Maurice needs to go to the hospital tomorrow again... Why did you insist on keeping this child four years ago? He is not clever enough, and he is always sick. If it wasn't for that stupid rich Jerome, we'd all be dead because of the burden!"

Tess' voice was shrill. Selina was afraid that others might hear her mother, so she turned the volume down to the minimum and lowered her voice, "Stop it! That's your grandson you're talking about!"

How could she say that her grandson was a burden and was not clever enough?

"Am I wrong? In my opinion, you should just give this little fool back to Hank! Then you can just be Jerome's wife and feel at ease. And I can also enjoy my life with you." Tess said angrily.

Selina could only smile bitterly and said, "Mom, don't...."

Tess still thought that Maurice was Hank's child. But in fact, Maurice had nothing to do with Hank. Hank knew that better than anyone else.

Maurice's real father must be the investor that Hank had mentioned, though Selina still did not know who he was.

But she was also not interested in that. From the moment she made up her mind to give birth to Maurice, she had decided that Maurice was her child and hers alone.

"What? Did I say something wrong? Did you forget how the Peterson guy has done to you and your son? If it wasn't for him, the doctor wouldn't induce you. Maurice wouldn't have had to be in an incubator for half a year. Why couldn't I blame him for those things? Why did you sell yourself out to raise his son? Are you insane? Maybe Maurice is a fool because his mother is one!"

"Enough. I'll go back tomorrow morning. And I'll take Maurice to the hospital!" She hurriedly interrupted Tess and hung up the phone!

...

It was 8.15 p.m., and it was time for passengers to board the plane.

With a beautiful smile, Selina gracefully stood at the cabin door and waited for the VIPs to arrive.

Selina had imagined several possibilities that would happen when she met Hank and his wife, Paula at the boarding gate, but she didn't expect that they would go past her without even looking at her when they walked into the first class cabin while holding each other close.

Selina even greeted them sweetly, "Welcome aboard your flight with Rising Sun Airlines."

After Hank and Paula took their seats, Paula poked her head out first and looked suspiciously in the direction she walked in.

"What's wrong?" Hank gently stroked Paula's hair and asked softly.

"That flight stewardess looks like Selina." Paula's eyesight became worse after she was pregnant. There was some distance between them and Selina, so Paula could not be sure.

Hank froze for a moment before he said, "That's impossible. She died four years ago."

Selina lost a lot of blood during the early induction. A quack doctor sent her to the hospital, but she and her child died after all attempts to resuscitate them failed.

That had become the only nightmare Hank had over and over again in his life.

"Perhaps that's someone else." Paula turned her head back and changed the subject with a smile on her face. She stroked her belly with one hand and held Hank's arm with the other.

"Darling, who do you think our baby will look like? You or me?"

Selina closed the cabin door and the curtains, but that could not prevent her from hearing the harsh words Hank and Paula spoke.

She had also smiled at Hank and asked him those sweet questions before, but how Hank responded to her and how everything ended were very different.

She leaned against the cabin door in a cold sweat.

Jerome raised his hand to look at his watch. Even though it was a chartered flight and the passengers were already on board, he could not go to the runaway before the takeoff time,

He glanced at the monitor, and he didn't see Selina on the screen. He then took out his phone and texted her, "How do you feel when you run into your ex-boyfriend?"

Selina's thoughts stopped wandering when she sensed the vibration of her phone. When she saw Jerome's text, her heart skipped a beat.

So he knew everything.

Jerome knew that the passenger who chartered the flight was Hank, and he also knew the relationship between Hank and Selina. That was why Jerome had asked her to fly tonight.

Why?

Didn't he say that he did not care about her past?

Selina sniffed and used her slender fingers to send him a reply quickly, "I didn't know that Captain Harris would also feel jealous."

Jerome narrowed his eyes. He tapped the screen of his phone twice with his finger and pondered.

He got another text from Selina, "Don't forget the agreement we made when we got married. We should not ask each other's past or interfere with each other's businesses when it has nothing to do with 'our home'."

She was reminding him that their marriage was just marriage by contract.

Jerome snorted coldly. He thought that Selina had overestimated her place in his heart. Why on earth did she think she was qualified to remind him of that?

"I'm interested in nothing about you but your body."

To him, she was nothing more than a sex partner.

That was what their relationship was like from the beginning. And it would not change in the future.

The more Paula thought about it, the more she felt that something was wrong. People could look alike, but they could rarely have the same voice.

She raised her hand and rang the service bell.

Long Time No See

The one who came up to Paula was a flight steward.

However, Paula had seen Selina's face the moment the curtain was lifted.

That was Selina. She couldn't possibly mistake someone else for Selina!

That woman wasn't dead at all! The quack doctor had lied!

Paula simply asked the flight steward for a glass of water to send him away. She did not walk towards the front cabin door before the plane took off and Hank fell asleep.

"It's really you."

The woman sitting in a cabin crew's seat was indeed Paula's sister, Selina, who had been missing for four years.

"Long time no see, my dear sister. I missed you so much during the four years you disappeared."

Selina felt disgusted as she heard Paula's hypocritical words.

Selina froze for half a minute before she unbuckled her seat belt and stood up.

The look of surprise on Selina's face soon disappeared. Selina was elegant and beautiful again.

Since she couldn't avoid meeting them, she would have to face them head-on.

The past four years had taught her that she should neither stir up trouble nor be too timid.

"Long time no see, Mrs. Peterson!" She said word by word, and she even put special stress on 'Mrs. Peterson'.

That was the title that once belonged to her, but now she was using it to address somebody else. She found it a little ironic, but that was all.

"Are you jealous of me?" Paula raised her eyebrow proudly and held her belly with her hand subconsciously.

"I took away your man, your father, and your company. Everything you once owned belongs to me now."

"And you. You were once the daughter of the Evans family living a wealthy life. Who would have thought that you would be reduced to working as a waitress on a tiny plane? Fortunately, you have inherited your mother's pretty face, otherwise, you might not even be able to get the job of a waitress!"

Selina had thought that Paula might be a bit slicker after four years, but she found that Paula was still both blunt and mean.

"Miss Foster..."

Selina wanted to speak, but Paula interrupted her.

"No, I'm no longer a Foster. I'm a member of the Evans family now. In fact, I am the only daughter of the Evans family now."

She deliberately stressed the word 'only'.

Selina would be lying if she said she was not angry at all. The smile on Selina's face had certainly stiffened, but her education didn't allow her to quarrel with passengers while she was working, especially when she was talking to a pregnant woman.

"Mrs. Peterson," Selina finally decided she should just address Paula by that title, "the plane is flying fast and we may hit turbulence at any time. For the safety of you and the child in your belly, please return to your seat and fasten your seat belt immediately."

After saying that, she put on a harmless and sweet smile again.

She had spent so much time with Jerome, and she had learned nothing else but disguise from him.

He told her that people's true emotions were their trump cards. Once their trump card was exposed, they would lose half of the game.

Paula came here to provoke Selina. However, she not only failed to irritate Selina, but she also made herself angry now.

She felt upset because Selina was not affected by her words at all.

Paula heard a sound from behind. She knew that Hank was up. A cunning scheme popped up in Paula's mind. She hurriedly took a step forward and grabbed at Selina's arm.

Unexpectedly, the plane jolted violently. Paula could not stand still. Her body fell backward quickly. She didn't even need to put on a show.

Fortunately, Hank reacted quickly and caught Paula with his arms in time.

"Why did you push me?" Paula directly accused Selina of pushing her!

Then, she let out a long moan and complained as if she was wronged, "I have indeed done you wrong in the past, but my child is innocent! If you want revenge, come at me! Don't hurt the child I have with Hank!"

Then she really started to sob.

Hank stared at the face which he was once very familiar with. There was a surprising look on his face at first. And then, he realized something and felt grateful. But finally, he became angry.

A few seconds later, he raised his hand and slapped Selina.

"You should blame yourself for your child's death. It has nothing to do with Paula! Come to me if you have any problems. How could you even try to harm an unborn child? Selina Evans, why did you become such a vicious woman?"

The disbelief in his angry voice pierced Selina's heart like a knife.

Selina was lost for words for a moment. Half of her face hurt, but she just stared at him blankly.

"How can you try to harm an unborn child?"

Was he sure that he was not talking about himself?

Had Hank ever thought about how vicious he himself was?

Selina almost lost her temper. Suddenly, Jerome's alluring voice came from the loudspeaker, "I have seen from the monitor that some passengers have left their seats and wandered around in the cabin. For your safety, please return to your seats and fasten your seatbelts immediately!"

The monitor. Yes, there were surveillance cameras on the plane!

Selina put on her professional smile again. She glanced at Hank, and then she fixed her eyes on Paula's face and asked seriously, "Mrs. Peterson, we have surveillance cameras here. Could you say it again? Who pushed you just now?"
