A Pigeon Pair:Sweetheart,Let's Get Married

Sir, Do You Have a Girlfriend?

The woman's soft waist was grabbed by a pair of powerful hands. She felt like being pressed down.

She could feel the strength. Before she could make sounds, her lips were covered.

However, the pleasure of pain she expected didn't come, instead, she felt her head span dizzily. Her upper body was pressed against the soft pillow by that force. For no reason, she was simmering with pain, her breast swelling with pervading gloom.

She was still unable to make a sound.

But this time, however, she felt her mouth was covered by a warm and dry palm.

Then, she felt her body sank.

Mumbling, she suddenly opened her eyes.

What she saw was countless heads in the cabin, which depressed her a little.

A stewardess was saying gently, "We'll soon be landing. The temperature outside is..."

Patting her face to refresh herself, she gradually realized what she had dreamed of, her face red.

What kind of position was she dreaming of just now?

"Mommy, are you dreaming?"

A soft child's voice came into her ears.

Dragging herself into reality, Everly Farley turned around and saw her 5-year-old son Edmond Farley sat at the side, blinking his big eyes at her. "I heard you talking in your dream."

Everly was shocked, "What did I say?"

"I didn't hear it clearly." The boy muttered and said nothing more.

She curled up her lips into a relieved smile.

Over the years, she would occasionally dream of that night five years ago, but she had never managed to see that face clearly.

He must be a nice man.

At least he was good-looking.

Otherwise, how could their son look so cute?

As the plane landed, they got a clearer image of the city. The little fellow turned around from the window, excited. "Mommy, is my daddy here?"

Everly was lost for words. She then smiled, "Well, I can find you one."

The little young man pouted and stopped talking. Obviously, he wasn't happy with this answer.

Seeing her son turning away, Everly sighed. She was guilty, no doubt. Although he never said anything, he should have been longing for a father.

"When I get my work done, let's have some fun, okay?" She leaned over and said, trying to please him, "You wanted to come here, didn't you?"

Hearing that, acting cool, Edmond snorted and said, "We'll talk about it later."

Everly was speechless.

What a little young man.

Everly had no idea how Edmond had grown into this, for they had different personalities.

The dream reminded her. A thought popped into Everly's mind. Was Edmond like that man, his father?

...

After getting off the plane, Everly went to get her luggage. She pointed to a stool not far away and said, "Edmond, go sit there and wait for me. Sit right here, okay?"

Edmond nodded and headed for the stool with his little hands in his pockets.

Suddenly, Edmond's eyes were lit up by a tall and strong man in a neat black suit. It must feel safe and protected to be with him.

It was never a good idea to let Everly find him a father, thought Edmond. He had to find one himself.

Look at that man. He would do it.

Edmond jumped off the stool and followed after him.

...

"Mr. Maverick."

Jayden followed behind with the luggage and handed Mr. Maverick the document he had just received. "Here is the document you want."

Maverick Lamont just got back from Italy, and he didn't use the VIP exit.

Although he tried to keep a low profile with only one assistant and no bodyguards, he still managed to turn quite a few heads.

Jayden whispered, "The car is waiting at the door. Mr. Will has been looking for you for several days. He doesn't know that you have returned yet."

Maverick only said "I see". When he walked to a corner, he felt someone pulling his trousers.

He was stunned.

Jayden didn't expect it, either.

Then, a clear voice of a kid came into his ears, "Excuse me, sir."

Maverick frowned when he saw the person who was tugging at his trousers.

A little kid was pulling his clothes. Just as he was about to say something, he heard the little boy grin, "Do you have a girlfriend?"

His question caught Maverick blank for a few seconds.

Facing a question from a child who he had never met, he could not keep calm.

Jayden glanced at Maverick. His face was cold, but he didn't seem angry.

But the boy... Maverick found him somewhat familiar.

"If you don't, I can introduce one to you."

Edmond still had his hands in his pockets, trying to act cool, pride flowing out from his little face, "My mommy, she's a very beautiful and good woman."

Jayden was shocked. Were all the kids so mature now?

Finding his mother a date?

Something moved in his eyes. He squatted down and patted Edmond's head, saying, "Alright, if we meet again, we'll see if it can work."

Now Jayden was slack-jawed.

We Meet Again, Sir

When Everly got her luggage and was about to meet up with the people who came to pick them up from the company, she found that her son was missing.

She freaked out. Although her son was highly intelligent with a good sense of direction, he had just come back from abroad...

She scurried to the airport staff for help, carefully described Edmond's height and appearance, as well as his attire...

"Mommy!"

Her heart jumped to her throat at Edmond's voice.

She looked back and saw Edmond walking towards her from not far

There was a stranger following him.

She turned pale, pulling her son over and examining him carefully. After she saw that he was all right, she let out a sigh of relief. "What is the matter with you? Do you know I'm freaked out?"

Although Edmond was young, he was very observant. He quickly soothed her in a sweet voice, "Mommy, I've grown up. I'm fine."

The man standing behind Edmond stepped forward.

The man smiled and looked at her strangely. "Are you the child's mother? Although it is safer here than abroad, you have to take good care of the child. Since he has found you, I'll be off."

Although Everly was puzzled, she heard kindness in his words and said, "Thank you."

"You're welcome." Jayden nodded and then turned to leave.

Everly was furious because she was worried. "Tell me where you went."

Unexpectedly, her son said with contempt, "Mommy, you were not worried to leave me alone in the US. Why are you worried back at home?"

Everly was lost for words.

"I just saw a very handsome man." Edmond wasn't a very talkative child, and it was rare of him to praise other men.

Everly took him towards the exit and casually asked, "Really? How handsome?"

Edmond said proudly, "A little more handsome than me."

Everly couldn't help but laugh, "You like to brag!"

However, she thought her son was very handsome.

After they met the people sent by the company to pick them up, they went straight to the hotel.

After they checked in, Everly began to work.

Garry Ingram, the assistant appointed by the company to work with her, handed her the iPad and played a video.

"Everly, please take a look at this first. We have only signed a letter of intent, and nothing has been finalized. The investor suddenly changed the manager. Their company is going through an internal restructuring, and I'm afraid there will be some changes."

It was a video clip, in which a large group of reporters surrounded a tall man.

Standing in the middle of the crowd, the man was expressionless in the flashes from the cameras.

Through the screen, one could feel the grim ferocity deep in his clear and calm eyes.

His face was good-looking with aloof distance, but he had overwhelming masculine charm.

He carried a cold and gloomy air, which was intimidating.

Maverick Lamont was a well-known name.

He was famous abroad, not to mention that he was worshiped in City C.

Before he returned to Lamont Group in City C, he was an investor with unique insight, and the projects that he chosen made absolute profits.

Just last month, the hundred-year-old family business in Sweden was swallowed up by him overnight.

One could imagine how brutal this man was in the business world.

However, the relationships within the Lamonts were complex, which must be in turmoil presently.

At the end of the video clip, the man says, "No. I'm determined to get what I want."

Everly's eyelids twitched slightly. When this man said no, he was like a sharp sword out of its sheath, restrained but proud. His confidence and determination could not be concealed.

Maverick was her rival this time.

Edmond saw Everly busy at work, yawning in boredom. "Mommy, I'm going out to buy ice cream. My phone is located."

Edmond had known his mind since he was small. When they were in US, he could take good care of himself when Everly was busy with her work.

Everly knew that he must be curious about everything back home, but she could not spare time to accompany him. She had been discussing work with Garry, and her son might be bored.

She agreed, "Come back in half an hour. Do you know the way? If anything happens to you, call me right away."

"Okay. I got it." As he spoke, the little fellow opened the door and disappeared swiftly

*

Maverick stood by the elevator with one hand in his trousers pocket.

The double doors of the elevator opened with a tickle. Just as he was about to enter, he saw a small figure leaning against the corner of the elevator.

Maverick narrowed his eyes.

However, those small eyes abruptly lit up.

"Sir?"

There seemed to be delight and surprise in his voice. "What a coincidence! We meet again."

It was indeed a coincidence.

Maverick glanced at him and hesitated for a moment before he said, "Are you alone?"

"I'm with my mommy." The little fellow replied quickly, as if he didn't have the slightest sense of self-protection, giving away the details. "Sir, are you staying at this hotel? What a coincidence! Mommy and I stay here as well."

The Same Taste

"Is that so?" Maverick reached out and straightened his collar, entering the elevator.

He took a few glances at the child, who was almost up to his waist. Although the child's eyes were pure and clean, Maverick thought he should put on his guard. After all, people would resort to any method in order to achieve their goals.

However, the child in front of him was about the same age as his precious little princess, and even his eyes were the same as hers.

Maverick was disarmed by the eyes.

The child excited his attention for no reason. "You come out alone. Aren't you afraid to meet bad guys?"

Edmond blinked, "I met you, sir. You are a good person."

Maverick laughed, "How do you know I'm a good person?"

Edmond asked in reply, "Sir, how can I be as cool, handsome, and rich as you are?"

Maverick raised his eyebrows and asked, "Why do you want to be like me?"

"Because you look so powerful. I want to protect my mommy."

Maverick couldn't help smiling. "I didn't know that you are a reliable little man."

"Of course!"

His tone and eyes...

Maverick was dazed for a moment. The more he looked at the child, the more he felt him familiar. This child had exactly the same eyes as his daughter Candy.

"It's not safe for you to wander around alone in the hotel. I'll take you back to my room first, and I'll get the hotel staff to contact your mother to pick you up." As soon as he finished speaking, Maverick was startled by himself.

He had never cared about things not concerning him, and most of the time he was even cold and heartless.

Now, he actually blurted out such words.

Besides, he didn't like anyone to disturb his privacy. This was just a child that he had met twice.

However, he had said those words, and he could not go back on them.

Edmond's eyes immediately lit up, nodding. "Okay."

Maverick could not go back on his words when he saw the child's expectant face.

He brought the boy into his room.

Maverick had work to do, so he asked his assistant to get a glass of juice for Edmond and he went to the study and made phone calls.

Edmond sat quietly, but he couldn't help looking with curiosity at the furnishings of the room.

This hotel was owned by Lamont Group, most of which was taken over by Maverick.

He stayed here for the time being because he didn't want to see the Lamonts.

This room was his private residence, which he had frequented in the past few months, so he put quite a few private collections here.

After Maverick finished his work and came out of the small study, he saw the little fellow staring motionlessly at a rare wooden model he had collected. There was obvious longing in the child's eyes, but he did not reach out to get it. Instead, he just sat quietly and stared intently.

Maverick raised his eyebrows.

Although the child's parents did not seem to pay much attention to him, allowing him to wander around, it was not hard to tell that he was refined and self-possessed.

Maverick was in a good mood. He strode up and took the model. "Do you like it?"

Edmond held the juice in his hand and nodded earnestly, "Sir, I like it very much, but it seems hard to buy. Mommy bought me a few."

He pointed at the model with his chubby finger and said, "I know it's rare."

Maverick was taken aback. They had similar taste. KK models had been popular for a few years. They were made with first-class carving crafts and were expensive. Normally people bought them for collection. Such a young child could not possibly take them as toys, let alone admire them.

As a cautious man, he got suspicious. He ran across this child twice in a day, and they had the same taste. Was it a trick to approach him with a child?

But those eyes.

He felt that eyes would not lie.

In the end, the eyes identical to Candy's put suspicions out of his head.

Maverick sat on the sofa and leaned forward slightly. He handed the model to Edmond and said, "I couldn't tell that you know much about it. Why do you like these models?"

"Because other kids don't like them."

Edmond said, "When Mommy and I were abroad, other kids kept bullying me because I had no father. The toys I liked to play with would always be snatched away. Later on, I saw this and liked it very much. When I had the first model, other kids wouldn't come and take it because they didn't like it. But I did, and liked it even more, the more I looked at it."

Maverick was surprised. Such a sensible child didn't have a father?

He grew up abroad. No wonder he was precocious.

Maverick had a very strange feeling. The child said with a clear voice that he had no father, and kids kept bulling him and snatching his toys abroad. He knew it had nothing to do with him, but he could not help feeling a dull pain at his heart.

He frowned and stood up, saying, "I'll give you this rare model as a gift."

Edmond was exhilarated. "Really?"

"Yes."

"But I want your contact information." Edmond held the model and asked for more.

"Why?" Maverick looked at him with a faint smile.

"Of course I like to introduce my mother to you. Do you remember what I told you at the airport? You said that if fate brought us together again, you would give me your number."

Maverick was unruffled. "I did tell you that I don't have a girlfriend, but I have a fiancée."

Maverick felt he had gone so far as to bring the child to his room and give him toys, and he couldn't give him his contact number.

Although he felt intimate with the child, he was not sure what kind of parents he had.

"Come on. Your mother should be worried. I'll ask my assistant to send you back."

He took out his phone and called Jayden.

Edmond's face was filled with disappointment.

However, the handsome man was busy looking at the iPad. Edmond pouted his lips, but he shut up docilely as he was sensible.
