Kendra
Mom. I’m not moving to a new school. End of discussion.
Mom
Yes you are. I’m not saying it again, so go to bed.
Kendra
I DONT NEED TO GO TO BED. IM NOT GOING TO SCHOOL.
Mom
Lower your tone and go to your room.
Kendra storms up to her room, slamming the door and pouting on her bed.
She eventually gets tired and dozes off.
Mom
Wake up Kendra, it’s time for school.
She ignores her mother and grabs her clothes, walking off to the bathroom.
After she gets dressed, brushes her teeth, and does her hair, she puts her shoes on, grabs her keys and her backpack, and leaves without saying a word to her mother.
Kendra goes to her locker, meeting a really nice girl on her way.
Rilee
Oh hi! You look new.
She rolls her eyes and puts her backpack inside her locker, grabbing her phone out of the side pocket.
Kendra
Yep. And it’s only the start of it.
Rilee
Sorry, I’ll leave you alone then.
Kendra
No wait, you’re fine. It was my fault.
Kendra took out her schedule.
Kendra
How do I get to Mr. Jackensons class?
Rilee
Right up ahead this hallway then turn right at the end where the doors are.
Kendra
Oh! Well thanks. I didn’t catch your name, by the way.
Rilee
Nice name. I gotta go to class though.
Soon, Kendra finishes getting her stuff and begins to walk to class. What she see’s next makes her heart drop to her stomach.
Amelia

All the students in the hallway and turned to them.
Amelia

Kendra
Or you could just stay the **** away from me.
Kendra rolled her eyes and walked to class angrily.
The whole class ooh’ed as Amelia glanced around to see everyone laughing at her.
Amelia
We’re not doing this again.
She mumbled under her breath.
Kendra places her books down on the table, calming down realizing Rilee was in her class as well.
She sat down next to Kendra and smiled.
Rilee
That’s not the way to treat someone who gave up her seat for you.
Kendra
Sorry, there’s just a lot going on right now. This old bitch from my old school just had to show up on the one day I WASN’T thinking about her.
Rilee
Dang. I feel for you, but seriously, you’ve got to stop acting all uptight and depressed.
She rolled her eyes as class started.
Kendra headed out of the classroom to see Amelia standing at her locker.
Kendra
Are you kidding me. Are you fucking kidding me.
Amelia
What? Not happy to see an old friend?
Kendra pushed her out of the way and shoved the locker door in her face, rolling her eyes and huffing.
Kendra
Aww it takes one to know one sweetie!
Amelia
Whatever. I just came over here to apologize for being so rude earlier.
She thought and rolled her eyes.
Amelia
I should’ve made a nicer entrance. Let me try again.
Kendra glanced over as she saw Rilee walking over.
Kendra
Hey Rilee, can we we go somewhere else?
Rilee and Kendra walked over by the water fountain.
Kendra
I cannot stand her.
She pointed over to Amelia.
Kendra
Nothing right now. It’s a bit of a long story so I’ll tell you later.
Kendra nodded and folded her arms.
Kendra
Oh look, here she comes.
Amelia
Oh hi! Is this your new girlfriend? Hmm.. she’s a bit basic but.. I’m happy for you.
Kendra
She’s not my girlfriend.
Amelia
Aww how sad! Still single I see. My bad I didn’t come over here earlier and say hi. I was just telling the kids about how much we bonded last year!
Rilee crossed her arms and whispered.

Yea. I did. It’s the reason we moved. My mom forced me to go to another school because I got expelled.

It’s a long story..

Last year was a hard year for me. With my mom and Amelia breathing down my back it got harder.
Kendra
I just felt like nobody cared about me so that impacted my mental state and I started causing trouble,
Kendra
The fireworks were the last straw, and the school kicked me out.
Kendra
And I guess the reason I hate Amelia being here is because she triggers old memories.
Kendra
I don’t want to go back to the way I was.
Rilee
That’s deep. I’m sorry I didn’t realize.
Kendra
It’s fine, but can we leave or something?
Rilee
You mean like skip?
Kendra
Yea. Amelia coming here just fucked up my mindset and I can’t come back from that. Not today.
Rilee
Sure, don’t worry. Wanna go get some froyo or something?
Rilee
Alright, I’ll meet you outside. I’ll get your stuff. What’s your locker combination?
Kendra

Rilee nodded and walked out while Kendra waited by the door.
