My name is Nevila Whiteblood and I am the noble princess of Enovecon. Enovecon is a large beautiful, tropical country in the centre of a forest in Africa.
The white blood's(an airs surname) had a long lineage with each family having a boy child to continue the lineage. Therefore the male child was treated better and more fairly than the female child. My brother and soon to be king is Zuvius. He is very kind and well respected and quite good looking but at his age now (18) he fools around with women and gets drunk. Zuvius told me in secret that he wouldn't like to become king but his heart is in knowledge and books, therefore he would like to become a scholar. I on the other hand liked this idea but he knew not to anger father and quickly dwindled that idea. As for the girls i, Anana, Kells and Evelorina were to get married to rich noblemen and become their possession but I am not an ornament I disagree. My gorgeous sisters on the other hand are spirited about it and say we will be treated like eggs (No you will be used like salt) That is why I must run away and flee this fated prison. I want to be more than a possession. So the day of my marriage is the day after my seventeenth birthday, I regret to see this day. I don't even know the name of the man I am to marry. My seventeenth birthday is tomorrow and I have been planning my escape for three weeks now. Everything is in place for me to escape.
I walked quietly into the ballroom. The room was lit dimly with yellow silent sparks in each corner of the room. A gold Chandelier barely illuminated the middle of the room. Red and gold wallpaper draped all over the walls and a loud violin giving life to the once gloomy room as they play a song called Metieartabeht meaning a child born once. People of all ethnicities danced on the dancefloor some Asian, some Latino, some native American all dancing together in a waltz of grace (a traditional African common dance) or salumadun
My dress stands out from the rest. A midnight blue ball gown with off shoulders and a tight blue corset with silver flower patterns, it has black lace embroidery around the shoulders all extenuating my curves and the chiselled line of my cheekbones. There is a hood on my dress which can be hidden that I designed myself to be useful for my escape. The big part of the dress is removable and my undergarments are a pair of soft cotton trousers the same colour as the dress
I get pushed onto the dance floor by my very elated mum "go on darling dance" she says with a warning smile. I had no choice but to dance but I did my birthday dance alone. An important part of my escape was that my father was not at home he had travelled for work two days ago and wouldn't be back till the next month. He was meant to dance with me. That is good because it gives me time to escape. My dad was a big obstacle to this escape because if I was caught by him. It would be the end of my plans.
My belongings were already starched away by a brick archway outside the grey castle stone walls on a brown carriage that carries loads for food and drink. If I was to escape successfully I would need to take the wooding door on the left corner of the room leading to the toilets. It won't be long till they notice the fire that I started by lighting a match on the curtains in the kitchen. Everyone is distracted. Here is my chance, I act like I am dancing on my own and Waltz all the way to the corner of the room as a hand grabs me on my waist from the side. "Hi" a baritoned honey like voice says. I look up and a handsome caramel skinned lad looks down on me, his face chiselled and well defined. His brown eyes stare into mine as if he is reading my soul. Before I get a word in he is called by his mum across the room "Sorry I have to go" he touches his curly black hair and walks quickly towards the young looking woman wearing a pink dress across the room the only age you see is in her eyes. I didn't quite hear his name. His mum called Edwin or Erin, I'm not sure but no time for that. So I half ran, half waltz towards the door at the left corner of the room. "Fire" shouts one of the waiters. The two guards at the wooden door quickly moved away from it towards the loud noise. "Yes it's working" I scream in my mind. I act like I need the ladies room and gently open the door as to make no sound. Everybody was already distracted by the fire and dancing no one noticed me anymore. A dark hall way leading to the outside was standing in the way of me and freedom. I ran pacing from the ladies room and gents room before reaching the door when I heard a screeching sound coming from the door I had just left because it was dark I just held my breath and just hoped. I heard the same low honey like voice say "I saw you walk here. I saw the carriage outside. So I put two and two together. I also don't want to be here can I follow you on your travels' he suggests sternly. "How did you know I wanted to escape?" I ask as quietly as possible. "There are no other carriages outside". Oh I didn't think of that. I think to myself. "Okey you can come" I breathe out. I don't know this person. He is a complete stranger, yet in my heart I feel I can trust him, almost safe even. I wear my hood and open the door. I didn't know when he got so close to me but now in the moonlight I could see his features "Okay" he says with his face so close to mine that his breath touched my lips. My dark caramel skin blushed. He noticed our close proximity and blushed too.
