Episode 1
broadcast
This is the captain speaking
broadcast
We're in line for take-off
broadcast
but as you can see out the window..
broadcast
the weather isn't playing nice and the tower has put a ground stop on all flights..
broadcast
I'm not sure exactly how long this storm will hold us.
broadcast
It looks like we'll be staying here for at least half an hour, folks.
broadcast
We'll keep you posted
Peering out of the small plane window, I could see the turbulent dark gray clouds that prevented us from leaving Denver
I ran from the gate to the most distant commuter area to reach my connecting flight in time, only to be stuck on the asphalt like that.
I glanced at my watch, then sighed
Catherine
* I didn't have time for this*
Catherine
* H€ll, I didn't have time to go to Montana, but I was doing it anyway*
Leaning back into the uncomfortable headrest, I shut my eyes and tried to breathe away my frustrations
I had been up most of the night finishing the testimonials to be archived that morning, then I had spent another two hours answering as many e-mails as possible
I'd slept a measly two hours when the alarm went off at four-thirty , only to find the bridge
from Manhattan to Queens was having overnight repairs and the traffic was backed up
Then airport security took forever and I had to undergo a body search because of the titanium pins in my leg.
When I finally got through the gate, my boss called me to complain about the lack of relationship with my current client list.
I wanted to become a partner to such an extent that I had actually considered the idea of simply ditching the suitcase and heading to the office, but when my flight was announced, I realized I had to at least solve a mess in my life.
Catherine
*And now I was stuck in a thunderstorm*
As I tried to rub the sandpaper feeling out of my eyes, I tried to practice the deep breathing technique I had learned in yoga
Catherine
*The classes were supposed to be calming, but they never worked*
Catherine
*I was never calm*
And at that precise moment, the stale air inside that small airplane was heating up more and more, sinking into my lungs and suffocating me.
Catherine
*I was stuck and there was nothing I could do about it*
I hated things that were beyond my control
I wasn't claustrophobic, but I felt trapped just the same
A loud thunder shook the airplane just before the rain began to beat on the metal like a thousand small hammers.
Catherine
* Was god trying to tell me something? *
Catherine
*Slowly inhale through your nose, hold your breath, hold it, exhale through your mouth.*
Breathe in… Sandalwood and leather with just a hint of warmth that I was sure should be totally unique to him.
I was sitting next to Mr. Cowboy Gran Figo and he smelled too good to focus on anything else - especially with his eyes closed.
Episode 2
It wasn't cologne, maybe soap, and he completely distracted me
Catherine
* How could anyone concentrate on yoga breathing when Tall, Dark and Handsome and I were bumping shoulders?*
I almost bit my tongue when he walked down the narrow aisle of the plane, he put his cowboy hat in the overhead bin above us and sat next to me, practically bending over to get into that tiny space.
He'd offered a quick smile and a polite hello and opened his book
I was texting on my cell phone at the time, but my thumbs froze as I drooled on him.
I imagined that I owed all female mankind to feast my eyes as my heart started beating again.
Catherine
*His strong hands that made a woman beg to be touched*
Catherine
*Most importantly, NO WEDDING RING *
His tanned skin showed me that he didn't work in an office.
I was a total p€rv , thinking about my seat mate like this, but holy sh!t
He was pumping out pher0mones or something like that because all of a sudden all I could think about was sitting on his l@p and giving him a good ride.
My brain had stalled and my ov@ries had taken over
There were no cowboys in New York
And I had to admit that there was nothing better than a man of his size and with well-defined muscles from hard work, fresh air and sunlight instead of daily visits to the gym
No man knew how to wear a buttoned shirt, jeans and worn boots like a cowboy.
Catherine
*He was all cowboy. *
Catherine
*For God's sake, I had always thought that the city businessman was cool, but they were pale dumbfounded in comparison*
Catherine
* They might be able to make a billion dollar deal over lunch, but I'd turn a blind eye if they tried to get me in bed *
Catherine
* But Mr. Hottie? *
Catherine
*He could ride me and subdue me at any time. *
Episode 3
Since I wasn't going to tell him that, I glanced at my watch again
Three minutes had passed since the captain's announcement
Catherine
* I should use this dead time to my advantage*
Leaning forward, I tried to reach for my bag, but the seats were too close to each other.
I had to lean sideways to do so only to find the side of my head bumped into Mr. Hottie's rock-solid th!gh
Catherine
*Rock solid and warm th!gh*
Abruptly, I sat up and flicked a gaze his way
I blushed furiously and bit my lip
Catherine
*Oh sh!t ! He had a dimple*
He smiled at me, showing that perfect indentation on his right cheek and I just stared at it, my mouth open.
He had a hint of a beard and I wondered if those dark hairs would be soft or prickly.
Catherine
* Would he slide them against his lover's skin? *
He murmured, his voice deep
Catherine
*Was he implying that I could put my head In his lap anytime?*
My eyes dropped to his lap and I quickly observed those well-worn jeans molded him in all the right places
Mortified by the fact that I was practically drooling on his huge package, I looked away, but not before he winked and grinned.
Trying to hold onto my side of the armrest, I used one foot to hook the bag and pull it forward - bending in ways that I had to thank the yoga hours for if I could get there - to finally get my hands on my laptop and the cell phone and place them on my coffee table.
Taking my phone off airplane mode, it rang right away
Chad
Don't think you can sneak out and sell your uncle's property without me knowing
Just hearing Chad's voice grated on my already frazzled nerves
Since I had blocked his mobile number, he was probably calling me from the office.
Catherine
* Why couldn't he leave me alone?*
Catherine
I don't need to sneak
Catherine
I'm selling my uncle's house
I kept my voice low so as not to disturb anyone.
Chad
And keep the profits yourself?
Chad
Not going to happen, sweetheart
Catherine
I'm not your sweetie, Chad
Catherine
I doubt I ever was
When I discovered him in bed with his paralegal, I had to assume that she was his better half.
Chad
You are my wife and this entitles me to half of that inheritance.
