The Beginning of a Stealer

The train suddenly stopped moving. The chaos in that train was gone in just seconds. Everything became so silent, so calm, so different from what was going on a minute ago. Chloe Caroline opened her eyes in confusion. She looked right, then left, then right again. No one was on the train—she was alone.

The train also looked rather different from what a normal 2019 train usually looks like. The whole train was literally white. From the seats, to the tables, and to the floor and walls of the train. Chloe looked over to the window, and all she could see was nothingness. She couldn’t see a thing, black was the only color she could view from that window.

“Did I pass out? Did I die? That light blinded me! Where am I? Gosh, this is too weird to be true!” she said to herself.

Before this peculiar event, Chloe was sleeping on a train on its way to LA to sign a contract to be a young singer. Suddenly, the train moved so fast that everyone panicked. Some were praying, some were screaming, and others were just sitting in their seats with their pale face, too afraid to even speak a single word. The disaster woke Chloe up, and before her mind could analyse what was going on, a blue-colored light flashed through her and blinder her eyes. Once the light was gone, she was in this white train.

Chloe looked down in her lap, and saw the documents she brought for her contract, still safe and flawless.

“Well at least these papers are still okay. If I am still alive, I still can get that contract.”

She took the documents and put it in her red nike bag. After that, she stood up and started walking towards the doors of the white-colored train to exit. The doors automatically opened as she walked near it. When it opened, Chloe became surprised because the place she is at in that moment wasn’t dark at all, it was all colorful and beautiful.

Thousands of trees were standing straight and tall, birds were singing here and there, blooming flowers of different colors were coloring the grounds, and the smell of the grass refreshing the girl until she closed her eyes, sniffed the air, and felt very relieved. It was an astonishing sight to see, and Chloe was astounded. However, she started to question herself. She went back into the train and looked again at the window. She afterwards looked to another window, and another, and another, until she can conclude that through these windows, the only thing she could see was nothing.

“Why can’t I see a thing through these windows? Is it some kind of magic or something?” she wondered.

“Well, bingo! You are correct ma’am!”

Chloe turned her back and saw a yellow-colored creature, so small yet quite adorable. Covered in fluffy thick fur, it has wings and antennae like bees with glowing lights on the end of each antenas, and tiny little doll-like hands and feet. It was flying here and there, as if it was excited to see a visitor. This creature had been watching over Chloe silently from the very beginning, when Chloe arrived in the queer train.

“Hey little guy,” Chloe said to the creature, “What are you?”

The creature replied,”My name is Dexter, call me Dex if you want! I am a charitom, all that are my species look quite alike like me.”

“I’m Chloe. It’s nice meeting you,” Chloe smiled.

“Magic you say,” she continued, “What kind of magic?”

“The magic that Prince Archie created of course! He made the windows to be unseenable by people in the train to surprise them when they arrive in Thavmaton!”

“So I am in Thavmaton?”

“Well I guess almost, you just need to walk a few steps through the forest and you’ll enter the gate! Here, let me show you!”

Dexter flew in circles in excitement, and Chloe quickly took her bag. The charitom led her into the tall trees, entering the forest. As they entered the forest, Chloe was amazed by the beauty of it. There are fruits she had never seen before, pretty leaves of each plant she saw, mini fairies playing together on top of a quite-big turtle, with flowers and small plant on its shell, and so much more.

Dexter looked at Chloe’s dumbfounded face when seeing the turtle and explained, “That is Rocky, he is a fytalona. The fairies liked to make him their playground.”

After a few minutes, Chloe and Dexter arrived at the end of the forest, and there stands the Gate of Thavmaton. It was a humongous gate with soldiers around it. The gates were covered in gold and silver, and soldiers were the ones that would watch over it. They would also open the gates early in the morning when it is 5 a.m. and close it late at night when it was 12 a.m.. It was a gate just like in every single fairy tales everyone have heard of.

Dexter shouted, “Quick! I want to show you all the best places in Thavmaton!”

Dexter flew so fast that Chloe started running, following Dexter. She kept running and running, trying to keep up with Dexter, but she stumbled. When she stood up, she couldn’t find Dexter. She got lost.

Chloe observed the place she stumbled in. She saw a wooden sign that had “Garden of Pollyta” written on it beautifully. Not only that, she saw people with normal outfits like hers talking and laughing.

“Disney fantasy vibes but modern people,” she said to herself.

Furthermore, she saw children throwing some kind of shells made out of diamonds into a gold fountain near her.

“Don’t people usually throw coins, do they?” Chloe wondered.

She looked closer to those diamond shells in the fountain. She was planning to take one to fulfill her curiosity about that shell. She looked around to see if someone was watching her. When Chloe saw that no one cares about her, she put her hands in her water, and took a purple diamond shell.

“Stop what you’re doing!”

He grabbed her waist.

A Fool

He let go of her and grabbed the shell from her hands to put it back in the fountain.

“That, what you did, is such a stupid move,” he told her.

Chloe looked at him. He had bright green eyes, black hair with a single white-striped colored one in the left side of his head, a blue navy t-shirt that had “THAT’S ENOUGH” written on it, black jeans, and a pair of a new Adidas sneakers (well at least that’s what Chloe thought it was because of how clean those shoes were). He looked like he was at the same age as her.

He took Chloe’s hand, “Follow me I need to interogate you quickly.”

The boy took her to an alley with not a single person there. He lifted her up and put her on top of a large dustbin.

“Right, on top of a garbage box. Smells good in here,” Chloe said sarcastically.

“Take it as a punishment for steal-“

“I didn’t mean to steal! It was just my curiousity!”

“You still steal it, though.”

“But-“

“Yes, you did.”

“Argh! You know what? Fine. Yes, I took it, I stole it. So can you just let me go?”

The boy smirked.

“Adam Omorfé,” he leaned to the wall, looking to the sky. Chloe stayed silent to show how annoyed she was of Adam. Afterwards, he looked at Chloe.

“You do learn how to be polite in school by telling your na-“

“Chloe Caroline.”

Adam lifted Chloe from the dustbin, and put her in front of him. He touched her shoulder with his two hands and smiled. Chloe washed away his hands off and crossed hers. She was even irritated to look at Adam’s face.

Adam then tried talking to Chloe, “Okay okay, I’m sorry for whatever I did to you, but tell me. Why would you even steal a shell from that fountain, as if you had never even seen it ever in your life.? You know the consequences. When a shell is stolen from that fountain, the stealer will lose their magic until that shell was returned back into its place,” he laughed.

“FOOL! I’VE **NEVER, NOT EVEN A SECOND IN MY ENTIRE LIFE SEEN ANY KINDS OF SHELLS LIKE THAT! I’M NOT EVEN FROM HERE!**” Chloe was pissed. She hated Adam.

Adam’s expression automatically change, and his smile was suddenly gone. In that moment, he again put Chloe on top of the garbage box, however this time, he hold her so that she would not runaway.

“GET OFF ME!”

“You’re the first stranger in hundreds, even thousands of years to enter Thavmaton. Tell me right now the name of the kingdom you came from, and I will stop holding you.”

Chloe gasped. She felt like she couldn’t move her body, as if Adam paralized her.

“Earth, New York to be exact.”

Adam was relieved, he knew that Chloe cannot do any harm, and as what he had said, Adam stopped holding the girl. Nevertheless, Adam did not let her leave the alley. He examined Chloe closely. Then he told her about how rare it was to see an Eartheast(what the people in Thavmaton called people from Earth) in Thavmaton.

“It’s very hard for your kind to come to this kingdom. There are some complicated magic and hard-to-read books that should be read to be able to complete the teleportation. You must be very talented, Caroline.”

Chloe replied to him in confusion, “It’s actually an accident. I was on my way to LA for some business and I end up here in a sudden on that white train.” After that, Chloe explained to Adam all the things that had happened to her.

“Dexter? He is a good friend of mine. Quite goofy, he is. One of the kindest charitom I’ve ever met,” Adam replied to Chloe, when she told him about the adorable flying creature. They finally talked alot more than the things that happened to the girl. Like how the people in Thavmaton are called Thavmatonians, the talking tree named Neva, located in the middle of the kingdom and laughing at the tree’s funny jokes that Adam told Chloe, the shell, the tradition of throwing shells into the fountain(like on earth) will bring goodluck, and so much more.

“The shell is $100 in the USA currency, the black $50, the blue $25, green $5, and red $1,” Adam explained about the shells.

“How ‘bout the cents? What do Thavmaton use?”

“We use broken-down corals with different colors too. The purple 50 cents, black 10 cents, and red 1 cent.”

“Wait, I just realized, how do you know about Earth, about USA to be exact?”

“We learn about Earth in school, and I like reading so I guess that could be the reason.”

Not only that, Adam also talked about how each and every Thavmatonian had their own power, and so Chloe asked him, “What’s your power, Adam?”

“I can sense crime when someone was doing it which is why I finally found out you are stealing the shell, and also make people tell the truth when they look at my eyes. However, I can control my power well and I don’t use it at you,” Adam saw how Chloe had opened her mouth to accuse him for using his power at her.

An hour has passed by, and the sky was getting darker. They finally became closer. Adam offered Chloe a place to stay in, “Would you like to stay at my house? It’s getting late. Well I mean it’s not that big, but adding a person to stay in there will not make an uncomfortable place to stay in. Tomorrow I can take you to Dexter, he must be asking for you.”

Chloe nodded her head, and Adam took her hand. They walked slowly, until they were back in the garden. Adam brought them there to show Chloe about its beauty—the flowers of different kinds and color light up, as if the stars had fallen from the stars and landed on these flowers.

“Glow-in-the-dark flowers,” Chloe commented on them, “it’s pretty.”

“I guess this could be the reason why Thavmaton is a great place to live in. It’s just, immaculate,” Adam responded.
