“Mrs. Catcher your husband is here to fetch you.” The nurse said in the hospital. “Okay, just wait a minute,” I replied while wiping off my tears looking through the window. “Is everything okay doctor?” it was my husband, having a conversation with the doctor. I couldn’t help but eavesdropping their conversation. The way he was asking the doctor was if, he would reply I am dead he would have a heart attack right now. “She would be fine, under the medication but,” with a long pause, the doctor continued, “we

can’t do anything now. You see I would like to consult you to go to another hospital so; they can go through the problem. We are not sure if it is cancer or not.” I know it can’t be helped right now, it is still new to face something

like this. Would there be a cure for Endometrial Cancer (Uterine Cancer)? The

worse part isn’t it. I can’t have a child of my own now. I am not afraid of death, someday eventually I have to die right, but I can’t leave my husband in misery.

“Hey?” “Hey! What did the doctor say?” I know what he would say but even though I want him to talk to me. “He said, they don’t know if it is that or not. So, there is still hope alright.” He replied with a grin. I just don’t understand how he can always stay positive about everything. “Alright! But it could be it. If it is what if I die? What will happen to you?”

“Hey I would be fine; I will always have you in my heart no matter what. I will have your memories.” He replied with a gentle smile. “That means you also are thinking that I would die?” “No! No! I was just trying to comfort you. You are always like this finding the negative side of everything. And don’t

worry I will stay by your side as long as I live. And if there is a will there is way right?” He tilted his head near me. “Yes! You are always the one to give me the positive energy whenever I am sad you know? I don’t know how you do it? But this is what I like about you.” I said. “You know, you shouldn’t say

something like this so frankly. I mean hey, it kind of makes me embarrassed.” He blushed. “My apologies for that, if you don’t like it so I won’t do that again.” “No, I didn’t say I didn’t like it I just feel like my heart skips a beat whenever you say something like this so frankly.” He replied with a face full blushed. “Alright, looking at you all blushing, kind of skips my beat you see. So, we are even now.” I smiled at him. “Yeah! I guess so.” He replied.

“Sammy, shall we go home now? I have a surprise for you.” “What is it?” I asked.

“It won’t be a surprise if you ask me about it you see.” He said. “Hmm, but I don’t like to wait,” I said. “Well, you have to wait for it no matter what.” He replied making a strict expression. He is so bad at making an expression. It kind of makes me wanna laugh hard. “Alright, then let’s go back.”

We want out of the hospital and sat inside the car. We are going back home now. He played on the music. And was singing along with the

song. His voice is so, nice to hear just like the time when we were studying. “Hey, you sing with me. This is your favorite song right?” “Well, it wasn’t before you started to sing it,” I said. “You again started to flirt with me

didn’t you?” He grinned. “Every girl flirts with you. You just don’t realize it. I am the worst among them.” I replied. “Well, what can you say I fall in love with the girl who flirts the worst? At least she won’t attract so, many

guys around her.” “Hey, that gives me worry don’t you think so? What if you got attracted to someone else?” I said. “Well, that won’t be it.” He replied. “How is that so?” “Because I made a promise to girl that day when I got my life engaged with her you see. And I love my wife the most, even if she is not a match to other girls. Because for me, she is the most beautiful girl.” He said. “Then, I can trust you, I guess?” “Hmm, did I make you blush?” He asked in a teasing manner. “Shut Up Already! You piss me off. Can you stop talking?” I

turned my head near the window. “Alright! Milady Samantha.” Dear lord if this is the last days of my life please let me live with this guy more and my fullest. This is what I want. I always want this guy sitting next to me smiling for the rest of his life.

We reach home and I saw my friends and my mother when we entered the house. They have always been there for me whenever I need them. After my father passed away when I got married he wished to see his grand children’s face before he died but I am sorry father, I couldn’t fulfill your wish. “Sam? Hey, are you alright?” my bestie asked me. “It’s nothing; I am glad that you guys are here to meet me!” I replied. I couldn’t believe that I suddenly spaced out all of a sudden. “How are you?” “Same as usual,” I replied. And we hugged each other for a while, I felt like we haven’t meet each other for ages now. And I missed all my friends. We all sat in the living room while my mother was busy preparing snacks for us, I ask her to let me help her, but she refused and Tom also said to go and sit there with them and wait for them to come and join us.

“So, I was wondering would you like us to talk about it or shall we talk about something else? I mean we want to know what happened or how it all happened but if you are not comfortable we won’t talk about it.” Dena said. “Well, it's fine you see we can talk about it but I guess let Tom come back from the kitchen and he will explain to you properly,” I replied. “So, let me start now. I was wondering that we should go on a trip before we all got separated from each other. You see someday we all will be busy somehow and then we would not be able, to see each other like this. So, let’s go out on a trip, what do you guys think about this?” Sally asked. “Yeah! I think you are right, we should.” I replied. “What are you girls talking about?” Tom interrupted. “Oh! Thanks for the snacks, Tom.” Amy thanked. “So, we were wondering about to go out on a trip. We all together.” Sally told him. “So, what do you think about this?” I asked. “Well…” suddenly the doorbell rang. “Oh! Excuse me I will get the door. You guys can continue.” He left. “So, will he agree?” Penny asked. “I don’t know. I will ask him about this to him later. And I suggest you to set a date I will ask him about this and then I will notify you so, don’t worry.” I replied. “Umm, sunshine? You have more guests who want to meet you.” He came in. “Hey, you guys?” “Hi!” “Liza and Hanna you guys are late,” Anna said. “We are sorry we got stuck at the traffic.” “Alright, It’s nothing come and join us.” We said. “Here are the cookies. Enjoy!” my mother brought. “Mom, it’s fine why are you working at my home?” I said. “It’s alright sweety. Okay, you guys enjoy I have a community meeting so, I will take my leave now.” She said. “You are already going. Please stay for some time more.” I suggested. “I can’t I have to go.” “Alright then take some snacks for everyone there,” I suggested. “It’s okay.” She replied. “No, you must.” I insisted and packed her some food and gave her in her hands. “Alright, come and visit us again okay? I love you, Mom.” I said and fetched her at the door. “Hey, can we start again now?” Sally said. “Alright, so tell us all about what is going inside your body,” Penny said. “Well, the doctors and sure if it is Uterine cancer or not,” Tom was telling them about it but, I interrupted, “But there is a chance it to be.” “Don’t listen to her; you guys how much she overreacts every time in little things.” He said. “Hey?” “So, till now we are not sure. So, we will be going to another hospital for tests and the doctor also suggested us so, there is no need to worry till now.” “But I must say Sam you still look fabulous,” Sally said. “Yeah, whatever,” I said in an annoyed manner. “So, when are you guys going to meet the doctor?” Penny asked. “Soon, I will get the appointment,” Tom replied. “Hey, can we get some more snacks. It’s all finished.” Summer said. “Sum, you are so much foodie. If she stays with you guys she will empty all your cupboards.” Amy said. “Ya, she is like this ever since she is in the school,” I said. “Hey, so what?” She replied. We all like to annoy each other. But still we all have this special bond which is incredible. At this moment, I just really want to capture this time so I can reply to it whenever I feel down. Dear, Lord in heaven thank you for today.

The alarm clock rang. It was 7 of the morning.  I woke of from my bed and went to fresh up. I started to brush my teeth and stopped for I while and start stirring at the mirror blankly. The mirror reflects you in front of it. It’s so strange that every time I stir in the mirror I have many different thoughts in my head. It’s like my imagination is in it topmost pick at the moment. I can do many things inside here. I can sing, dance and even act. But today I don’t feel like that, there is…a voice in my heart that told me, “What are you doing Samantha? Looking at the mirror would never give you any solution.” I was never looking for a cure nor am I still now. I just want a hand full of happiness which I want to pour in the water of melancholy. Once it mixes with it I will experience a little amount of both of them. I finished freshen up then went to the kitchen. I saw Tom was preparing for breakfast for us. He is the best sometimes. He sometimes understands me even if I say nothing, it’s like he have divine powers to understand one. We both are the same in some things but yet different. He saw me and greets me with his warm smile. I sat down watching him while cooking. “Last night, I was searching through the web about the type of cancer you have and I looked through every hospital website which recommends doctors. And guess what, I found a suitable one for us.” He said. “Yeah! I knew you would do something like that. But, you shouldn’t think too much about me every time. You should think about yourself first too. I will help you out next time. And it’s about me and I don’t want to push you just for me.” “It’s not about you only. It’s about us. Us being together what matters the most.” He said. “I am just worried about you, I am not like you. I can’t let you take the entire burden. I want to be a part of your happiness and sadness in all ways.” “You are always the part of it. You are always there when I am alone. So, that’s why I want to save you more so, we don’t feel alone. Alright?” “Tom? You are an idiot. But still, I love you the most.” I couldn’t stop my tears anymore. His words always have such deep meaning that it touches my heart. “I love you too. That’s why stay with me as we are now. Forever.” “Yes, forever. As we are now.” I hugged him. “Hey, the food will burn if you keep messing around.” “You kill the mood every time like this. I won’t hug you anymore.” “Hey, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to hug you anymore.” He replied. “Yeah! Yeah! Whatever.”

That evening we both were busy on our laptops. Tom was trying to get an appointment and I was busy with the work in my office. Suddenly an ad came up and there they were a club for the patients who are suffering or have been cured from health problems. The age groups are not necessary. That ad took my attention towards it I opened the site and looked through it. It was kind of interesting to look at something like this. Searched on the web about it more and I went deep about the things about this. I saw some of the videos of the people telling their stories. It was interesting to listen to their stories. Everyone suffers but some of them survive that’s what I learn. I made a decision finally. “Yes!!!” Tom screamed. “What is it?” “We got an appointment on Tuesday.” “Really? That’s great.” “You should ask for a leave for two days in your office.” He told me. “Yes I will but, before that this Sunday I want to go somewhere.” “Where?” “There is a club for many of the patients who are suffering from chronic disease. And that day they have a ceremony where they can share their stories and problems. It would be good if you agree on letting me go to that and I am going on a vacation trip with my friends after this week.” “What, and you didn’t tell me about it earlier?” “Because I was not able to tell you sooner before I decided about it.” “No, I won’t let you go alone there. What if something happens while I am not there?” “Hey, look at me. Everything would be fine. Trust me I would take care of myself and it’s just for a week. I want to go because I want to spend some time with my friends so, what do you think?” “Alright! You can go.” “yeah!” “But, you have to call me every night and tell me about it so; I can make sure you are alright.” “Okay, I will. And we are going to the ceremony this Sunday that’s final.” “Hey, I didn’t agree with that one.” “I am not listening. I am going to prepare the dinner now.” “Sam, you are always like this.” He said. “Yeah! Yeah!” God, this is the reason why I am living my days.
