I got up to sound of my alarm blaring loudly in the dark. I looked groggily at the time, 4:30 am.

Why the hell had I set the alarm for 4:30?

Oh shit.

Today was the day of my entrance exam.

Let me explain, the earth was filled with people with powers ever since the asteroid (now called Carnuth) collided with surface of the Earth, sending a electromagnetic shocks and unknown radiations throughout the earth.

Since then it was common for people with powers to be born. Some used their powers for good, other used is for evil to put it in perspective.

There were a good percentage of people who were born without powers and I thought I was one of them until a few months ago when my powers showed up.

I lived alone with my aunt ever since she adopted me at an orphanage when I was 5. She insisted on me calling her aunt and not mother for some reason.

She was overjoyed when she heard that I was (thankfully) not powerless.

Ever since I was little I wondered who my parents were. I thought they might have been normal humans until my powers showed up. Due to the nature of my powers they might have been powerful even.

Our world changed ever since the collision. Normal people were afraid that the rest of us would misuse our powers and kick them to the curb.

But nothing of that sort happened.

The government managed to lay down a feasible law and order system, they decided to make use of the superhumans instead of rendering them powerless (which they don't really know how) or shunning them from society. There was a new agency called the League of Heroes that consisted of Superheroes who were deployed in times of crisis and danger.

Superhero was an occupation of high respect and responsibility.

While people may have scoffed at the idea of the very existence of an occupation like Superheroes before the collision, now worshipped it for saving them from...

Villains.

Of course there would be villains.

Ruthless humans who thought they would put their powers to good use by plundering, pillaging, stealing. wreaking havoc in our seemingly peaceful society.

My childhood was a part of my life that I never wanted to go through again.

I was bullied when I was younger for being powerless.

Normally powers show up between 4-6 years. Mine showed up when I was 16.

For years, I believed that I needed to somehow become a superhero without powers.

People scoffed at me when I voiced my thoughts.

Now, your question might be 'Anaya, why did you want to be a superhero that badly?'

It's true I would be well off with any of the normal jobs available for normal humans. But ever since that day...

The day I encountered Mushin.

Mushin was a powerful villain who laid the foundation of the League of Villains to counter the League of Heroes. His League consisted of supervillains who planned and devised various schemes to lay waste on the existing law and order system.

That fateful day.

The day I lost my sister to Mushin.

I will never be able to forget that feeling of helplessness I felt when I saw Mushin gruesomely kill my sister right in front of me.

At that point I knew what I had to do.

Not just avenge my sister but also never let any of the other little boys and girls out there feel the feelings I felt and go through the turmoil I did.

I need to pass this exam and fulfil my dream.

The exam I was going to attend today was one that would give me entrance to the top superhero academy, LHA academy.

I felt the nervous tingles as I thought about the exam.

We had given our written exams a week back, which I had passed with flying colors.

Today was our practical exams. These were said to be one of the most difficult exams to clear.

Ahhh I needed to calm down.

I popped my headphones on and listened to some Queen while I started my work out.
