Ages ago, stories of old were not really just stories but were records of the greatest works of the gods. The stories passed down through time records only the stories that were known to men.
No one knows their origins but they knew and served the gods for as long as they could tell. Some said the gods were just myths, legends, stories to make the common folk submit to the rule of those in power. Time only made people believe the gods were not in existence, but unknown to the mortals a great battle prophesied in the during Ancient Era rapidly approaches.
Lurking in the Shadows were the forces of evil, plotting their rise and control over the world. The forces of the gods hidden from the sight of men trying their best to stop the “Forces hidden in the Shadows”.
The gods unable to interfere in the realm of mortals, could only sit on their thrones building up their forces with hopes of stopping the Great Evil approaching.
The followers of the gods are always in a battle with the “Great Evil”. The gods may have forgotten the wrongs they did to some mortals during the time of Ancient Era but does mortals did not forget.
The gods have always come to the mortal realm to mingle with mortals and have spread their seed over the world, some gods fell in love with mortals and some gods just tried to satisfy their lust and the mortals who carried their seed gave birth to Demi\-gods. Children born of the gods and mortals with abilities of their godly parents leading to them wielding great power.
Driven by the need for power some of these mortals joined the forces of Shadows, plotting, Demons hid in plain sight yet the mortals did not know what approaches. Blinded by their ignorance a cruel fate awaits them.
The Children of the gods trained by their followers to harness the great power bestowed onto them to fight against the Great evil
“Ahh, don’t leave me, mom”,
Once again, I woke up screaming from the same nightmare I always have on rainy days.
My name is Ayo, don’t ask about my last name because I don’t have one anymore, It’s the name my Mom “Susan Murdock” gave me and the only thing I have left.
Well I know I am different, ever since the day I was taken into the “Warm Embrace Orphanage” at the age of four where I spent most of my life. You’re thinking don’t I have any other family members, well they left me because no one knows who my Father is they say am the shame of the family so they abandoned me well I hold nothing against them even though they made sure to make it clear I should never come running to them for help.
Am I ashamed of being an orphan you’ll ask?
That is simple, within the orphanage everyone’s the same in the sense that we all have no one left or we’ve been abandoned. I was taken from one foster home to another all through my time at the orphanage.
There was my first foster home, when I was seven my foster parents were pretty thoughtful people they never let any of the children staying with them feel unwelcome or not loved. As for me I like staying alone, keeping to myself you could say am the lone wolf but you know it was the best and only time I can say was a good memory, as for the rest of my time till I turned fifteen my life was a very soul\-crushing experience but I lived past it Until a few months ago before my sixteenth birthday when I thought it couldn’t get worse “Hahaha Oh how wrong I was”
It started when I was still attending Raven Academy in the City of Licht; right that’s where I grew up, it’s the “City of Light”, back to the story, I was reading my favorite fantasy novel, as usual, Michael Andrews came to bully me again and this time I was unlucky enough to be caught and beaten up. Well what can I do except suck it up and laugh before going to the restroom and wash the bloodstains off my face and my shirt? I read fantasy novels because they were so interesting and the only thing that was keeping me sane at least because the characters in the book had it worse than me.
I was on my way back to the foster home am staying at when I saw some cat or at least that’s what I thought it was and how wrong I was, I went in to get a closer look and instead get attacked viciously by that cat scrapping and giving me my first taste of true fear. I managed to run away but on getting to the house Mr. Carira my foster father was home and drunk again and I tried to find a way to avoid him “Hey Ayo where are you coming from?” he asked me
“We had extra lessons,” I told him, but he saw some blood from my little exchange with the cat and exploded with vicious words
“You better not be lying to me boy,” he asked
“No sir I wouldn’t dare”
Then he starts laughing and gives me a kick to my stomach before pouring his whiskey on my injuries, my foster siblings were upstairs and immediately hid the moment they saw him hit me afraid they would be next, but that’s life, I got caught and given a taught a good lesson.
At night I could sleep because every time I closed my eyes I was reminded of the day I last saw my mother, and whenever I fell asleep I kept seeing that cat laughing at me with a dark humanoid figure standing behind a pillar telling me to run that I was in danger and I couldn’t get a wink of sleep that night. I kept thinking about that dream over and over again on my way to school the next morning and I couldn’t help but feel unsafe and I kept looking around me being all skeptical and I saw that cat again the first thing that came to my mind was to run and fast.
Why did I run? I don’t know but I knew I should run and fast.
On getting to school Michael Andrews and his friends were waiting for me right in front of the door to my classroom with faces filled with so much hate you would think I killed their parents, so I had to hide again so I decided to run to the school basketball court only to be seen by one of Michaels friends Tommy who started chasing after me and screaming.
I managed to avoid them until the bell for the first period rang and I managed to escape inside the class, but when I finally relaxed my whole body was when out geometry teacher came in and boom a Pop Quiz first thing in the morning and I couldn’t cry. I left my answer booklet all empty blank. The rest of the morning was fairly good, until Lunch break, when Michael and his goons came after me again I ended up being chased into the most abandoned part of the school behind the bleachers.
“Nowhere to run Ayo, am going to make you wish you went to Eastside Academy,” Michael said with a smirk on his face with his friends circling me
“What’s your problem, Michael?” I asked
“why do you always chase after me, huh?” Michael looks at me and suddenly laughs and says “I don’t need a reason to beat you up, I just feel that beating is right”
“Yeah, you should be happy to get our attention” screamed Sawyer, Michael's friend.
“I’ve had enough of all this if you guys don’t stop I guarantee I won’t back down and fight you guys” I screamed
They started laughing “Hahaha who’s going to fight, you?” said goon 1 sarcastically
Then they charged at me, in a surprisingly coordinated formation, I charged right at Michael with only one thought in my head “If I'm going down am not going down alone”
I dodged Michaels fist that just missed my face by half an inch and struck out aggressively at his chest hoping to knock the wind out his system but that’s the thing about jocks they are very resilient because of all the training they undergo, so I failed to knock the wind out of him. I sidestepped out of one his goons grapple attack and kicked him in his ribs, causing him to howl in pain which sounded like the howl of an actual wolf. Michaels signaled his other dogs\(goons\) behind me to stop me from running away and force me in one direction, slowly herding me like a bull, faced with no other option I charged at them; I dodged the first punch headed straight for my face but got hit by another which sent me flying through the air and knocked me out of breath.
I tried standing up only to feel like my insides were on fire like it was burning then I thought what if I hadn’t dodged the first punch aimed at my face, I couldn’t help but shiver and cold sweat came running down my back. They walked slowly towards me with a look in their eyes that told me how they all thought of me, I struggled to get to my feet and slowly started backing up into the darker corner of the bleachers. I could never forget the color of their eyes, “RED”, ‘Blood Red’; in one moment they were human in the next they were not, they looked like werewolves, but more savage. Picture a werewolf but now in front of them, werewolves were like cute little puppies. With so many thoughts running through my mind I felt like my head was about to explode, one moment I can see, the next all I see is black; the headache gets worse and I keep on stumbling into the dark.
Next thing I see is the look on their faces, they looked like they were searching for something but couldn’t find it.
“where is he?” asked Michael “He was right there,” said Sawyer
“where did he go?” the other three asked looking all hysterical
“find Ayo now” Michael Roars
I looked at them shocked that they couldn’t see that I was right in front of them, then I looked at my body seeing nothing but a cloud of smoke like figure with no physical body but I felt that my body was there but not there at the same time, I thought to myself is this how am going to die.
