Chapter 5 'A Familiar Stranger' (Part-3)

KAI'S POV:

I still remember the day clearly. It was raining heavily. My Grandma was hospitalized for about more than 1 month. This was the day of her last operation.

I wasn't allowed meeting her often. My parents thought she is having good medications and besides it would affect my career plans. I used to sneak out and go to hospital to meet her. Though she always has a smile on her face. But her eyes were saying something different. Her eyes seemed lonely and when I used to meet her they would shine with happiness.

I got caught one day by my parents. It was obvious but I didn't thought it would be this soon. Then I was strictly prohibited meeting grandma. A week passed and then soon the end of the month came. I wasn't informed about the surgery. After the dance practice I begged my manager to tell me about grandma's health.

But after hearing from her my world turned upside down. That day was the surgery. It was last and basically was risking her life. I begged and shouted for them to let me see grandma. I cried and shouted till my throat dried, and my voice became weak untill no words could come from my mouth. I - I couldn't bear this she was only there for me always.. when I needed her. But now when she needs me... -I.

There was a hurricane. The whole city was surrounded by the roaring winds and the heavy rains. The conditions were almost to flood. People were hurrying to get home safely. It was 03:00 p.m. The dark clouds covered the sky soon, accompanied by the strong winds. The whole scene was like a horror movie for me. The only running in mind was "How is grandma?" It usually takes 1 hour to reach the hospital. But this weather makes it almost to impossible. I don't know my mind became blank.

The loud thunder sound brought me back to reality. The only thing now in my mind was reaching to grandma. Since the surgery would have been cancelled. But it's very important for her life. I wanted to see her and stand beside her. I begged my manager no matter what please take me to grandma. My eyes were filled with continuous drops of tears. My heart beat of racing. The weather was too harsh. My hope was like a little light in dark... All the time I just thought of how much time is left to reach there. How is grandma now? And many more unanswered questions.

I finally reached there. The winds were hitting hard with those rain drops like little stones. I made my way finally to the hospital. On reaching there. I rushed towards her ward. On reaching the entrance I took some breaths. And the scene I saw her made my eyes grew wide.

I saw a girl sitting near my Grandma. Both of them laughing and my grandma looked in the pink of her health. She heard my footsteps and quickly turned her head towards me. She was wearing a hoodie and suddenly she stood up. She bowed to grandma and went outside the room. My grandma saw me and smile gently. I rushed towards grandma and hugged her. She hugged me back and wispered in my ear "Thank the sweet girl before she leaves" I looked up and nodded my head like a child and searched for her. She was on counter taking some paper. I rushed towards her and said "Hey!" She looked towards me.
