Unknown Identity

In the center of it all stood Miki, bathed in light, her expression one of awe and confusion. She was not merely witnessing this; she was the source. The radiance of the Divine Stone mirrored her presence, and the entire temple seemed to resonate with her energy. The priest knew then that she was unlike anyone who had ever stepped into these sacred grounds. She wasn’t just connected to the divine—she was, in some ineffable way, part of it.

When the bells stopped as abruptly as they had begun, an almost reverent silence fell over the courtyard. The students, the monks, even the wind itself seemed to hold its breath. The high priest’s voice, steady but laden with awe, broke the stillness. “You…” he began, his words failing to encapsulate what he felt. “You are not just seeking the divine. You carry it within you.”

Miki’s knees felt weak as she struggled to comprehend what had just transpired. The glow of the stone dimmed, settling back to its original soft radiance, but the weight of what had occurred hung heavy in the air. Her gaze flickered to the high priest, whose eyes held a mixture of wonder, reverence, and something she couldn’t quite place— was it the fear? Or perhaps hope?

“What does this mean?” she finally asked, her voice barely audible.

“It means,” the high priest said slowly, “that the path ahead of you is unlike any other. And that our world may never be the same again.”

As the brilliance of the Divine Stone faded and the echo of the ringing bells dissolved into the monastery’s usual tranquility, the other students and monks resumed their exploration, unfazed by the strange occurrence. For them, it was incomprehensible, a fleeting anomaly they couldn’t grasp. But for the high priest, the significance was undeniable. He lingered in the inner courtyard, his gaze fixed on Miki, who stood quietly, a mix of awe and confusion shadowing her features.

He stepped closer, his expression softened but resolute. “There is a power within you,” he said, his voice carrying both reverence and curiosity. “You have felt it, haven’t you? The way it has guided you through moments others could not survive.”

She nodded slowly. “I’ve always known… something was there. I’ve felt it when things seemed hopeless, like a presence lifting me, helping me,” she admitted, her voice quiet. “But I don’t know why… or where it comes from. Why me?”

The priest studied her intently, his weathered hands folding over the prayer beads at his waist. “Your questions are valid, and the answers you seek are not simple. But I believe they lie in your past—events and connections that have shaped your soul and brought you here.”

Her heart raced. The idea that her unknown power had roots she had yet to uncover was both terrifying and exhilarating.

The priest continued, his tone grave yet kind. “It is not by chance that the Divine Stone responded to you in such a way. Nor was it coincidence that the bells rang, or that even the great statue of Buddha seemed to smile in your presence. These signs reveal not just divinity’s touch upon you, but that your very essence carries it. Your past may hold the key to understanding this truth.”
