Chapter 18 Kang Lei interview Part 2

Before heading to his interview, Kang Lei had stopped by his university to see the head of the department, it was important that Kang Lei found a suitable internship as this would affect his overall grade.

It would be relatively easy and less pressuring for others, but as an omega that was a different story.

“What time is your interview today” ask his professor.

Kang Lei was currently seated in the office of the department head.

“It’s at 2pm today, Sir” Kang Lei answered

“Have you gone through the questions I suggested your researched?” he asked knowingly

“Yes sir, I spent most of the night reviewing”

“Good, good I wouldn’t expect nothing less from our top student, but Kang Lei...” he paused slightly and became solemn.

“I know you already know this... but...let’s be frank your an omega, opportunities as you know for omegas are limited, I know you have worked hard and getting this opportunity would be excellent, but make sure you mentally set your expectations.

If you don’t get hired, I will get you in touch with some people who hire omegas”

He said looking sympathetically at Kang Lei.

“I am fully aware professor, if there’s nothing more I will take my leave, I want to give myself enough time to arrive and settle my bearings”. Kang Lei became a little solemn, he was fully aware of the world and their discrimination, but hearing it outright doesn’t always help.

He got up and left after politely being dismissed by department head.

Kang Lei arrived at Dominics mansion at around 1pm he wanted enough time to look at the competition and steady himself.

When he walked into the mansion he was stunned at its interior, he felt like he had entered a castle, the thought the outside was amazing but the inside blew him away, he stood frozen unable to move, until he was brought from his trance by one of the organisers.

“Sir... sir... please come this way” a female beta, who was standing off to the side, and was dressed extremely well, she could be compared to a beautiful air hostess. This made Kang Lei feel even more out of place and uncomfortable in his dress. He was wearing a black suit which anyone could tell wasn’t of any know brand, he wore black shoes that was worn out and had little scuffs around the outside, his white shirt could easily pass as grey and he had no tie he could have worn.

Kang Lei immediately became depressed and slightly tugged at edge of his suit jacket.

“Y....yes... thank you madam” he said awkwardly and walked to the direction she was pointing.

Kang Lei entered into a large room, it was filled with about 20 other candidates, as soon as he walked in all eyes fell on him, after scanning over their competition for a few awkward moments a few of the candidates started to silently laugh and talk amongst themselves. Kang Lei had a thick skin and was use to others looking down on him, but no matter how strong a person maybe, they still get hurt.

Kang Lei felt a sore feeling in his heart, he knew he didn’t belong their but he wasn’t going to backdown because of others opinions.

He cleared his throat and found an empty seat at the far corner away from the others, as soon as he sat down he heard one of the male candidates state.

“Looks like that’s another one down, haha! Just by his appearance alone he’s a lost cause” the male stated out loud enough for Kang Lei and the others to hear him, the room immediately erupted with laughter and whispers mostly discussing Kang Lei. Some of the candidates voiced boastfully about how prestigious their families were and they were bound to get the role.

Kang Lei clench his fist trying to drown out the negative chatter and think of BoJing, he was main reason he applied, he had to try right otherwise he would limit their future.

He steadied his mind and calmed himself,

During this time about 6 candidates had been called in for their turns, before Kang Lei realised it his name was called.

“Mr Kang Lei, please come this way for your interview” called the female organiser.

Kang Lei stood up his heart started to pound fast and he palms became sweaty, he was now extremely nervous, “you can do this Kang lei” he repeated over and over again in the head whilst following the female organiser.
