3. Mistaken

Rowen soon reached the lady and caught her shoulder and pulled her in his direction to face him and hugged her without even looking at her face. He said, "Elena, you are really alive. I couldn't believe it. It's like a dream."

 When he continued to speak, she pushed him aside.  Rowen was about to continue his words, but he observed that she isn't the one he wants. She is quite similar to her but she isn't her.

To clarify his assumptions on her, she said, "excuse me sir, I think you have mistaken me for someone else. I don't even know you and I amn't Elena."

    Rowen's shining eyes lost their glitter and his face became pale in a moment. He said, "I am sorry. But you look like someone I am searching."

She didn't respond to him but adjusted the girl in her hands. She said, "I may look like someone. But my name isn't Elena. I have never seen you."

He was about to turn back with sad eyes but listened the small girl saying, "Mamma, who is that uncle?" She said, "He mistook me for someone else. Come, lets go. Otherwise you will be late to your school."

  The last hope of him that she is Elena flew into the air, when he listened the baby calling her mom. He soon walked to the car and sat in it.

Richard yelled at him in anger, "Rowen, are you mad? We are already late to the meeting. Where did you go? I couldn't get you. Eat fast. I will drive at my maximum speed to take you to the meeting as soon as possible."

  Rowen didn't reply. He neither ate nor he checked the file. He simply sat on the chair without his mind. His thoughts are running about Elena. 

The moments he spent with her were throbbing his heart with pain. The promises they made together were ringing like songs in his mind. Soon Richard noticed him and slowed down the car and asked, "What's wrong again?"

     He replied, "I saw a lady just now and thought her as Elena. They are quite similar.  But she isn't her. She even has a small cute daughter." Richard said, "Rowen, you aren't a small kid. Believe the reality. She is already dead. Her own mother declared that. 

    No mother will say her child dead when she is alive. Stop searching for her and live for yourself. Don't get sad. There will be someone to fill her place in your life. Moreover you are already engaged to Serina.  

You are dreaming about her daily. You aren't accepting the fate and isn't ready to believe her death. You are in a false illusion about her. So it's natural to think any stranger as Elena. Don't live in false world and accept her death.

Think about Serina. Your marriage is within two months. So don't have false hopes about Elena. Come back into your senses. Don't spoil this meeting with your wandering thoughts. It's very essential for us now. You were waiting for such an opportunity since a long time. Don't regret later."

    Rowen was silent for a moment and then said, "you already know why did I agree for the marriage. It's just because of my mother. I can never forget Elena. I can never love Serina. So don't talk about her with me. I can only love Elena till my last breath.

     Moreover, I didn't see the dead body of Elena. Her mother refused to meet me when I went to her house. So I can never believe that she is dead.

      But don't worry. I will get over this meeting. The plan is very good and they can never reject our proposal. It will be a success. So stop worrying and drive fast. There is only five minutes left."

   Richard said, "I know that this meeting will be a success as the project plan is made by you. But I am worried about you... not as a secretary but as your friend." 

      Rowen looked at him and gave a smile. Richard took up his pace and started driving faster. He knows that Rowen will not have his breakfast in such a state of mind. So he didn't force him to eat.

   Within ten minutes, they reached the office building. But it's already late and the meeting has already started. So they entered the hall and apologised for being late and took their seats.The meeting continued.

On the other side, the lady who was mistaken by Rowen as Elena dropped her child in the school and drove in the direction of her office. But the incident, which happened earlier was still in front of her and she is regretting her words. But she knows that she can do nothing other than that. 

  She isn't in a position to go to her office. So she called her manager and asked for the leave for half a day. She promised to come back in the afternoon for the work. As her manager agreed, she drove back to her house.

 As soon as she entered her room she broke down into tears. The tears which she controlled from the moment she saw Rowen, found their way and flowed down on her cute pink cheeks like a river. 

  She cried and said in between the sobs, "Rowen, I didn't expect to see you again in this life. I know that you would miss me but I didn't expect you to believe that I am alive even after three years. When I heard about your engagement with Serina, I was happy that you found your happiness.

     Moreover you loved someone else. What about her? Did you leave her? I don't care whom you choose.... just be happy and lead a great life."
