Chapter Seven Present Time

Lazarus was in the woods throwing his knives at a target on the tree. He heard a noise and pulled his gun out then turned towards thw noise. "Hey man don't shoot," the person said. "Who are you," Lazarus asked putting a gun at the person. "Im Zane. I was just walking through the woods. I heard a noise so i came over here," the person said. "Dont sneak up on people," Lazarus said then put his gun away. "Are you practicing for something," Zane asked. "Im a hunter," Lazarus replied throwing knives at the target again. "You hunt animals or demons," Zane asked. Lazarus stopped then turn towards Zane once again. "You know bout demons," Lazarus asked. "Yes i see them. They live amongst humans," Zane replied. "They have a human disguise. How are you able to see them," Lazarus said. "They dont look human to me and my sister," Zane replied then sat against a tree. "Hmm weird. I never met a human who can see demons as they are," Lazarus said then went back to practicing. "My friend Aiden knows bout them as well. He said he knows how to kill them," Zane said. "Your friend knows how to kill them," Lazarus said. "Yea he is like me and my sister as well he knows who the demons are," Zane said. Lazarus stopped practicing then turned towards Zane. "You and your friend are different," Lazarus said. "Yea ig so," Zane said. Zane stood up and went to walk away. "It was nice meeting you Lazarus but i gotta get home before my aunt comes looking for me," Zane said. "Here take this," Lazarus said handing Zane a knife and paper. "Um thanks," Zane responded. "The knife can harm a demon and thats my number. I want to ask you something when we meet again," Lazarus said, "oh and be careful. If the demons find out that you your sister and your friend that that gift then they will hunt you. "I'll keep it in mind see you," Zane said then left.

When Zane got home his Aunt was outside waiting for him. "Zane there you are," his Aunt said then hugged him. "Aunt i was just walking through the woods like i always do," Zane replied. "You were gone longer than usual," his Aunt claimed. "Sorry Aunt," Zane said. "Auntie," Zaire said while walking outside. Their Aunt let go of Zane and turned towards Zaire. "What is sweetie," their Aunt said. "I was gonna ask where Zane was but i see him," Zaire said then went over to Zane and hugged him. Their Aunt went back inside. "Zaire what is with everyone today," Zane asked. "We just missed you. You were gone for hours. More than yesterday," Zaire said still hugging Zane. "Zaire this is crazy. You all act like im gonna die anytime," Zane said trying to push Zaire off. "I dont want you to die like mom and dad did. Your the only family i got left," Zaire said hugging Zane tighter. "Zaire im not gonna die and i wont leave you alone," Zane said hugging Zaire back. "Really," Zaire said. "Yes really. You my little sister its my job to keep you safe," Zane replied. Zaire let go of Zane and looked up at him. "I love ya big bro," Zaire said. "I love ya little sis. Now lets go in its getting dark and you got school tomorrow," Zane said. After that they went inside ate dinner then went to sleep.

The next morning Zane went to get Zaire up for school. "Zaire get up. Your already a little late," Zane said. Zaire jumped up and quickly grabbed her clothes and went into thw bathroom. Once done she went downstairs. Zane was laughing. "Whats so funny," Zaire asked. "Your not really running late," Zane replied laughing. "ZANE THATS NOT FUNNY," Zaire yelled. "Yea it was now come eat your breakfast so we can go," Zane said still laughing. Zaire pouted and went to the table. "Where Auntie and Uncle," Zaire asked. "Uncle had to work and Aunt went shopping," Zane replied. After Zaire finished breakfast she went to school. Zane went out to get a few things. "ZANE," someone yelled. As soon as Zane turned around the person hugged him. "Aiden," Zane said. "Yea i wasnt sure if you saw me," Aiden replied letting go of Zane. "I didnt but your the only one that hugs me," Zane replied. Aiden smiled at Zane. "Where you headed," Aiden asked. "I gotta run to the store to get a few thing," Zane replied. "Hey Zane can i ask you something," Aiden asked. "Yea man wat is it," Zane replied. "You wanna come eat lunch with me," Aiden asked looking at the ground embarrassed. "Yea just message me the time and place," Zane replied laughing quietly. Aiden looked up at Zane and saw he was smiling. "I will i gotta go though. I'll message you later," Aiden said. "See you later," Zane said. Then Aiden left and Zane went to the store. After Zane got what he need he went home and put it all away. A few hours later Aiden messaged him telling him the time and place of lunch. Zane had an hour and half before he had to meet Aiden. He decided to clean up the house a bit.

An hour later Aiden started to get ready. After he was cleaned up and dressed he went to the restaurant. Once he got there he saw Aiden waiting by the restaurant. "Aiden," Zane said. "Hey Zane," Aiden replied. "Did you wait long," Zane asked. "Not really. I just got her a few minutes before you," Aiden answered. Zane smiled then said. "Should we go inside." "Yes," Aiden replied then started walk towards the door. Suddenly the door flung open nocking Aiden to the floor and two guys came out and started laughing. Zane helped Aiden up. "You alright," Zane asked. "Im alright Zane," Aiden replied dusting himself off. The 2 guys were still laughing. Zane glared at them then they stopped laughing. "Lets go man," the first guy said. "Why are you scared of Zane," the second guy said. "You should be. He kicked *** in school last year," the first guy said. "Yea so. He was just lucky," the second guy said. "You should listen to your friend," Zane said in a cold voice. "Let's go," the first guy said then dragged the second away. Aiden stood there looking at Zane. "Something wrong Aiden," Zane asked. "You beat somebody up in school," Aiden said. "Yes he was bulling my sister and he didnt want to stop," Zane replied opening the door to the restaurant. "Is that why you werent at school for a while," Aiden asked. "Yep dont worry i dont do it all the time," Zane replied. Aiden smiled then went in and sat down. The waiter came and took their order. After they ate they left the restaurant and was walking when someone approached them. "Haruka why are you here," Aiden asked surprised. "I was looking for you Aiden. You weren't home when i got home so i was worried," Haruka answered. "I was hanging out with my friend," Aiden said. "I see that," Haruka said looking at Zane. "Umm well we can go now if you want. Zane i will see you later. Bye," Aiden said then grabbed Haruka arm. "See you later Aiden," Zane said. Aiden left and Zane went home. After Zaire and their Aunt and Uncle got home they had dinner. A few hours later everyone went to bed.
