Chapter Two Lazarus Laurier Past (16)

When they got to the house they all got out of the car. Lazarus mom came out of the house. She went over and hugged Lazarus. "Aww sweety im so sorry. We were busy," his mother said. "Its alright mom," Lazarus said. "Dear let him be he has his friend over," Lazarus dad yelled from the house. Lazarus mom let go of him and stood up. "You must be Owen," his mom said. "Yep," Owen replied from behind Lazarus. "You two can go up to Lazarus room," his mother said. "Come on Owen," Lazarus said then lead Owen inside to his room. Lazarus sat his backpack on his bed. "You can set your bag down anywhere you want," Lazarus said. Owen sat his bag beside his. "Wanna play a game," Lazarus asked Owen. "Yea," Owen replied. They played games til Lazarus mom called them for dinner. They went downstairs to the dinning room. "Lazarus sweety i made your favorite," his mom said. "Thanks mom," Lazarus said. Owen grabbed Lazarus shirt which caused him to stop eating and look at him. "Something wrong Owen," Lazarus whispered. "Wheres your bathroom at," Owen whispered back. "Upstairs across the hall from my room," Lazarus answered. "Thanks," Owen said then got and went upstairs. "Lazarus is he your only friend," his dad asked. "I met a girl named Casey today. She is one of Owens friends," Lazarus replied. "So he is your only friend," his dad said. "Yes he's my only friend," Lazarus said looking at his food. "Dont bother him dear. Let it be. He will make more friends as the year goes on," his mom said. "We sent him to school to make friends dear," his father said. "He will make friends. Just give him time," his mom said. "He's just too shy. He hardly even talks to us," his dad said. "Now hun let him be," his mom said. Lazarus stood up and ran upstairs and into his room. Owen was walking down the stairs at the time but he stopped when he saw Lazarus. Owen heard Lazarus parents arguing downstairs. He decided to go talk to Lazarus. "Lazarus are you alright," Owen asked standing in the doorway. Lazarus didnt answer just stood by the window and looked out. Owen walked over to Lazarus and hugged him. "Lazarus are you alright," Owen asked again. "Yea im alright," Lazarus replied. "Wats on your mind," Owen asked then backed away so Lazarus could turn around and face him. "My dad said i need to make more friends and my mom wants him to leave me alone. Making friends takes time and well your my only friend," Lazarus said. Owen hugged Lazarus again. "Lazarus your my best friend. But yea it does take time to make friends and you've only been in school for a month. Umm but your parents are fighting downstairs," Owen said. "Oh dont worry bout that. They will stop after a while," Lazarus said. "Lets play the game," Owen said with a big smile. "Yea," Lazarus said with a smile.

The next morning Lazarus mother came into the room. "Boys time to get up," she said. Lazarus woke up then sat up. "Ok," Lazarus said. "I made breakfast get dressed and come down," she said then walked out. Lazarus got out of bed without waking Owen. He went into the bathroom and got ready. When he got back to the room he saw Owen was still asleep. Lazarus went over to the bed to wake up Owen. "Owen its time to get up. My mom made us breakfast," Lazarus said. Owen woke up and looked at Lazarus. "Im up," Owen said while sitting up. Lazarus handed Owen his bag. "Get ready. I will wait for you here," Lazarus said. "Thanks," Owen said getting up out of bed. He took his bag and went into the bathroom and got ready. After a few minutes he came out and went to Lazarus. "Alrighty lets go," Owen said. Lazarus went out and Owen followed. "There you boys are," Lazarus mom said. Lazarus looked around and saw he couldnt see his dad. "Your father went out for work early today. Now come and eat your breakfast," his mother replied. Owen and Lazarus started eating. After eating they followed Lazarus mother to the car. Once they all got in the car she deove them to school. "Now sweety tou nad friend have a good day at school," his mom said. "We will mom," Lazarus said then closed the door and walked away. Owen followed him to the school where they ran into Casey. "Hi guys," Casey said. "Hi Casey," Owen said. "Hi," Lazarus replied. "Are you ready for this assembly today," Casey asked. "No," Lazarus and Owen replied at once. Casey laughed and turned around. "Class is gonna start soon," Casey said then went inside the school. Owen and Lazarus followed her in. Afterwards they went to their classes.

After school Lazarus was waiting for his mom to pick him. After a few minutes a car pulled up. It was a cop car. Two officers came out of the car amd walked over to Lazarus. "Are you Lazarus Laurier," one officer asked. "Yes," Lazarus replied. "Can you come with to the station. Your Aunt May is waiting for you there," the other officer said. Lazarus went with them to the police station. When they got there and went in. Lazarus saw his Aunt May crying. When she saw him she ran over to him. "Lazarus im so sorry. Your parents were killed by some animal," his Aunt said. Lazarus stood there for a minute then hugged his Aunt and started to cry.
