Tylon
I pass through the portal and enter into a room to see an old man standing on the other side. This old man I assume him to be Jason, though I am not sure that he is happy to see me as he is supporting a frown on his face.
"Hello Sir, I'm Tylon the royal guard sent to retrieve the princess." I offer him my hand but he leaves it hanging. He may be sixty or something in age. An old man and a grumbly one at that, what a luck. I mentally laugh at this.
"What are you laughing at boy." He scowls at me. Okay so I may not have hid it properly but then remembering the situation I am in, I firmly put my mask on.
"You are what they sent for this mission, a mere boy. What were they thinking. Oh lord how am I suppose to complete this mission." He frowns again and I return his frown with my own.
"I may be young but I am as dangerous as they come. I have the power to rescue the princess on my own if you decide not to help me." I say to him fiercely. He scowls again. What a grumbly old man and I am stuck with him. Goddess save me!!!
"C'mon boy we have lots to do. The less time taken the best it would be. Rightnow the Darconians don't know you are here but soon they will, I will mask your scent the best I can. So if I were you, I would hurry on finishing my job."
Elsa isn't just a job for me. I want to bring her back. If I could change one thing in the past I would let Darconians take me instead of her. I failed her once I won't fail her twice.
Jason tells me the place I am in is a little town called Healdsburg. He said that according to Helda Elsa might be here. He tells me to rest for the day and scout the parties at night thrown by humans. He said it was common for children at this age to be found there, whatever that meant.
Instead of resting I make my way to the forest behind Jason's house. I had momentarily forgotten about the powers granted by Esron's soul.
I start my meditating and focus on my inner power. As I do this I feel a lot calmer than I was before. My eyes lock with a squirrel and I silently command it to come to me and to my surprise it obeys. As I concentrate more and more, I discover that I can compel anyone, my sword when I conjure has an ethereal glow to it. Not only that but I am super strong. I was strong before but this new strength will allow me to fight a dozen Darconians without fatigue.
Jason lends me his son's clothing for the party. He also gives me an address. I don't know how to drive a human vehicle so he offers to drive me to the destination. I thank him and also ask him to forgive me if I had caused him any inconvenience. The old man finally smiled and said that I reminded him of his son who died while he was protecting his country.
During the drive Jason tells me many stories of his son. I felt sad for him. He was the only one left in his family. I couldn't hold it against him that he was stern. Loneliness has a way of changing people.
Despite of Averial and Earth being in the same time space, Averial was not as advanced as Earth. Jason told me to drop the courtesy and to call him by his name. I was to speak without any courtly manner if I wanted to blend in.
Jason dropped me at a place called the Ivashkov's manor. The manor was huge and was swarming with young people. I was mortified to see, young women so scantily dressed, nothing such as this could ever happen on Averial.
I suddenly sense a hint of magic there. I was not able to believe in my luck. If it was my lucky day then surely that would be Elsa in that manor. I rush inside the house, before I lose her. There was just one little problem, there were around hundreds of girls and I finding Elsa between them was a real task.
"Hey there, handsome" I turn to see a beautiful girl trying gain my attention. Her beauty although exotic was completely fake, I could see layers of makeup she had put up. I tried to get away from her. "Excuse me, I have to go and find my sister." Although it was a lie but I didn't feel bad in the least while lying to her. She left me alone after seeing that she didn't have any of my attention and moved to someone giving her that attention. It disgusted me.
Suddenly a scent hit me so hard that I staggered back. Elsa, she was there. I could never forget her scent. She smelled like summer and fresh rain. Nature's daughter that's what we used to call her.
I frantically search for her. I notice a crowd forming in the centre of the room, and then all of a sudden the crowd broke up. Some guy pushed me back. Elsa's scent and her magic essence was fading. I pushed through the crowd in an attempt to get to her but her scent was long gone. I had missed her. I wanted to beat myself up for losing her yet again.
I left the Ivashkov's manor and went back to Jason's place. He was asleep and I decided to have a little sleep as well.
I slept a little longer than expected. My body was tired from travelling through the portal and having a late night adventure. I woke up, dressed myself and went downstairs, there I saw Jason had made breakfast. I felt guilty on taking his advantage. He asked me to come have my breakfast.
"School reopens in a week. Many children would be in the mall a couple of miles from here, you should check it out maybe the princess is there." He said. I agreed with him. It was better to go there than to sit here idle.
We went to the mall. Earth had huge buildings. We had no such thing as a mall in Averial, although we did have a market place but it was nothing as such.
I was looking at everything and nothing in particular when I sensed her presence. I tried to find her in crowd. I couldn't believe what I saw. She was the most beautiful women I had ever seen. Her midnight dark hair escaped her ponytail to curl around her heart shaped face. She was tiny in comparison to me. Those eyes had me captivated. They looked like liquid gold with freckles of silver. I wanted to kiss those full pink lips. They looked like pillows, all soft and the thought that came next scared me. I thought she was mine. I momentarily forgot to breathe.
Just as I was making my way to her, I saw a few Darconians in the mall. My blood boiled and hot rage swept through me at the thoughts of any Darconian near my Elsa.
They had seen me, they thought I was a prey. Let's see who did the hunting once I was finished with them. I purposely tried to bump into them. They wanted to play and I would happily oblige to that request. My first priority was to drive them away from Elsa, if I could sense her, so could they. I took down the first one by dragging him into an abandoned shop and killed him. These creatures didn't deserve mercy.
I took down all of them and began searching for my Elsa. I found her sitting in a food court. She took my breath away. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Her golden eyes, the ones I had dreamed of countless times had me captivated. She was a beauty to be reckoned with. She must have hundreds of admirers. That thought alone had me seething in anger.
I finally found the right opportunity to get her. I couldn't believe my luck. "Done staring princess." I asked her, chuckling at her expression. "You need to come with me." Instead of following my command, she shrugged and asked me who I was. She was absolutely breathtaking. Instead of answering her, I grabbed her hand. A jolt of electricity shot down my hand as soon as I touched her. She was too taken aback with the sparkles dancing on our skin.
I tugged her forward gently to make her follow me but she didn't even move. She defied my compulsion completely. "How did you do it." I asked her. No one I knew till now could defy my compulsion, not even the few Darconians I had to take out. I saw her friend approaching us and as soon as I saw her getting distracted I dropped her hand and hid in the shadows. I couldn't leave her alone and ended up following her home.
I started walking to Jason's house after seeing her to safety. Just a couple of blocks before Jason's house I sensed a presence. "No need to be alarmed son, I am not going to hurt you." I gaped openly at the man next to me. Something was very familiar about him. He had the aura of a celestial being. "I am Esron's spirit, in a more solid form" He laughed at his own joke. I frowned at him and prepared myself for any onslaught that might happen. "You cannot compel the girl to come with you, she has to come on her own free will. My son would help you." Now that had me shocked.
"Your son!" I asked dumbfounded. "Yes, my son. He is born from my powers. He too knows that something big is coming, for I have informed him. Do not worry, he will approach you soon. But beware of the danger that lurks in this place." With that he disappeared. I groaned internally at myself for not asking more questions.
After letting myself in Jason's house. I sat on a chair and started going over the things that Esron's spirit had said to me. The more I tried to understand what he meant, the more confused I got. I eventually told Jason about the whole dilema with the Esron's spirit. He wasn't surprised when he heard my tale, that shocked me. Then I got it that he knew everything from the starting.
To gain Elsa's trust I had to join her school. I had a feeling that this mission was going to be pretty long. Jason said I could keep my real name but pretend to be his brother's son. I readily agreed to it and he told me to rest for the week as the school was going to start on monday.
I kept an eye on Elsa not only to keep her safe but also because I was unable to keep my distance from her. She didn't knew I was following and I liked it that way.
