Episode 4: Meeting him

The days flew by as quickly as possible. I still found it difficult to walk, but now I could at least stand up. I also finally had my first “encounter” with my father.

Hyungseok: “She is adorable.”

Oh I forgot to mention, my mother Seoyeong Kang, is the third queen of the kingdom. “If only you were born a boy.” That was the sentence that I kept hearing.

Hyungseok: “Sis, this world is really hard and brutal to girls. My heart is breaking at the thought of you suffering in this world. Here women don’t have any power anywhere. But, it is my wish to see you overcome the barrier that is holding back women, actually I’m no different than you”

Mother: You shouldn’t speak about yourself so low. You are the eldest prince.

Hyungseok: “But I am the weakest, If I wasn’t a prince I wouldn’t have even survived.”

Mother: Don’t say that about yourself- It doesn’t matter what others say about you. You are the eldest prince. I will always love your majesty unconditionally.”

So magical power is what dictates everything in this world. It is what matters the most to people who live here.

Hyungseok: “It’ll be a while until I can see you again.”

Mother: Just thinking about this makes me feel sad and lonely. His majesty will become the Empire’s hostage once again.

Although he has no magical power, He was still the oldest prince. That made him the easiest hostage for the empire. The empire still treated him well but that didn’t make his life any easier. Perhaps that must be why he looked so mature and lonesome even though he was just a 13- year old. All I could do for him at this point was be amazed by his amazingly kind and tender heart and his handsome face.
