Chapter 2: Surprise

what you think. But please be kind. I am weak-hearted.

"We have arrived." said the man.

I must've fallen asleep again along the way. It is now night time and we are now in front of gated wall with dark solid iron gates with dragons carved. Despite the darkness, the dark walls seems to glow. It is heavily guarded with armed warriors surrounding the wall.

"So this is the Black Dragon Sect's Fortress. Seeing it, I have already abandoned all hopes for an escape. There is no way I will be able to escape this place." I thought. I've never been in any place that looks as luxurious and as fearsome as this. The gates were opened and we were let in, the carriage stopped and finally we are in front of a dark palace.

"I bear no ill will against you and your family, so let me give you some advise. Be in your best behavior. Lord Rong Xia has conquered all of  Tian Kong Territory and has killed all those oppose him. If you value your life, it would be best to be as obedient as you can. Keep your head low and do your duties to preserve your life.This is where I leave you". He knocked on the door and said "Lord Rong Xia's servant is here".

A cloaked man opened the door and introduced himself. " I am Mao, keeper of the Dragon Palace and Lord Rong Xia's right hand. He flicked his fingers and green flames lit up a pathway that leads to a staircase. I walked behind Mao with shaky legs and fear building up. What kind of dream is this? No, this is not a dream, this is a nightmare. I need to wake up. Somebody wake me up!

Immersed in my thoughts, I didnt realize that Mao has stopped walking. I bumped into his back and when he turned around I finally see his face.

"My Lady, before we proceed, let me warn you of some things. Do not attempt to escape. The guards may look and seem human, but those are dragon spirits. They only recognize Lord Rong Xia and myself. Once they see

you the will think you are an enemy and will attack you on the spot...." I know I should be listening but I cant help but be mesmerized. How can such words come out this beautiful man.

"...apart from you the rest are night servants. They only come out on sundown. Are you well my Lady?" said Mao.

"Ah err yes" I replied. Snapped back into reality.

"I will lead you to your room so you may bathe"

At the top of the staircase another servant was waiting.

"Ah Yi, this is Lady Ban Hua, she will be your master from now on". Ah Yi looks like a middle aged woman, she smiled at me but I noticed that her smile didn't reach her eyes, but despite that, it didn't creep

me out.

Like he read my mind Mao explained "Ah Yi is a Ruo Family guardian, like most night servants, she is neither human nor spirit. She will be your servant from now on. Ah Yi, bathe your master"

I have a servant? But wasnt I supposed to be a servant?

"Umm err Lord Mao?"

"Only Mao, my Lady, I am not a Lord, there is only one lord in this palace".

"I was told I will be a servant, if there are many night servants in this place, does it mean I am a morning servant? I will serve the Lord Rong Xia in the morning?"

Mao smiled and said "My Lady, Lord Rong Xia has the blood of the dragon and incubus."

An incubus.I'm dead.
