After a shower in the guest room, he went to his Study to read some documents. After a few minutes, his phone rang. Checking the caller ID, he picked up. "How was it?"
"Are you sure she is from a Li family? I checked the database and there is no Li Yao at all." The other party explained.
His brows creased. "How about the Orphanage?"
"Yes. The Orphanage's records stated that her name is Li Yao as it was left in the baby's crib when she was left there. But there is really no Li Yao in all of the Li Family records in the country."
"Hm. Try overseas. Send all her files to me." He said before hanging up.
Pinching his nose bridge, he closed his eyes as he leaned back on the chair.
...
Past 7 am, she woke up to the sound of chirping birds and the rays of the sun. Pushing up the quilt to cover her face, she closed her eyes to sleep again. However, before she can even drift into it, she heard a chuckle. She sat up as she pushed down the cover to look at the source.
She gazed at the balcony and there he was, sitting on a chair with a lit cigarette on his hand. He stood up, grounding the cigarette into the ashtray.
He walked inside. "Go wash up and get changed. Breakfast will be ready soon." He left her then.
Li Yao obeyed his words in a jiffy. As she went down the stairs with her bag, her nose was quickly filled with aroma. She hastened her pace, putting down her bag on the sofa before heading to the kitchen.
Hearing the footsteps outside getting louder, Minzhe chuckled in amusement. Li Yao sat on a chair and watched him with his broad back facing her. After a few minutes, two servings of the breakfast were served.
"Let's eat." He said before getting the chopsticks. He took pieces of meat from his plate and put them on hers. "Eat more meat. You're too thin." He said with a hint of annoyance.
She got her chopsticks and quietly digged in.
Minzhe drove the car towards the highschool, parking it nearby. Li Yao on the passenger seat looked at him, flashing a small smile. "Brother Minzhe, thank you." Placing a hand on the handle and putting on her cap, she opened the door. When she closed it and turned around, she saw him standing opposite of her. "Lead me to your dormitory." He said.
Helpless, she entered the school with him behind her. His stature, handsomeness and presence attracted a lot of attention from the passerbys and students.
When she reached the dormitory building, she was hoping he will not follow anymore, but he did... like her own shadow. "Is there a teacher around here?" He asked.
"Our Dorm Supervisor, Teacher Ye is here." She answered.
"Bring me to her." He ordered.
Li Yao scratched her head as she turned around to face him. He knew she was getting annoyed but he did not care one bit at all.
"Bring me to her." He repeated. Li Yao frowned but still led her to her office and knocked.
"Teacher Ye." She greeted as she opened the door and walked inside.
"Oh, Yaoyao! I thought something happened to you when you did not return last night." She felt relieved seeing her fine after a look up and down. She then looked at the stunning man following her behind. "T... This is?"
"Her guardian." He answered before Li Yao can even think of a reason.
Li Yao widened her eyes as she looked at him. He patted her head. "Don't worry." He assured.
He walked towards teacher Ye. "Yaoyao will not be staying in the dorms anymore during weekends. I will give you my contact number so anything concerning her, please inform me."
With her mouth still agape, Minzhe wrote his name and phone number in a piece of paper. "I will inform the Principal about this so you don't need to worry but please update her profile and put my details as her guardian."
Snapping out of her daze, she swallowed. She looked at Yaoyao then seemingly asking for confirmation. Helpless as well, Li Yao can only nod at her.
"Al... Alright... I will also inform her Form Teacher about it." She nervously replied.
"Thank you, Teacher Ye." He said before walking towards Li Yao.
"Teacher Ye, thank you for your help." She said as she bowed respectfully before leaving.
They walked in the corridor together and once more garnered the attention of the students staying in the dorms.
"Who's that man? He's so handsome!"
"His face is soooo flawless! God!"
"Xuran, your Family is very influential. Do you know that guy?"
Xuran was also staring at the man with shimmers in her eyes. Shaking her head, "No. I'll ask my Father."
"But why is he with Li Yao? She's an orphan and poor. I don't think she can know someone like that."
Xuran narrowed her eyes and glared at Li Yao. A vicious thought appearing in her mind.
"I told you! Li Yao is two-faced! She may seem quiet but she is truly a bitch! She probably has been doing something immoral to earn money!"
"Rui, how can you say that? Do you even have proof? Just because she knew a rich man, she is already doing something bad?!" Ai Yin rebuked as she looked at Rui with disdain.
"Oh, so what proof do you have that she is not doing anything indecent?" Rui asked back.
"You! Just because you are jealous, you have the nerve to slander someone! I bet you are the one doing something indecent!" Ai Yin retorted.
Rui panicked at her accusation, ripples forming in her eyes. "Shut up! Jealous your face!" She yelled as she walked into her room.
Ai Yin smirked. She really thought she can't see through her? Idiot.
Li Yao entered her room. Each room in the dormitory has 5 students occupying it. Li Yao shared the room with her four classmates. Only one, Jingyi, was present at the moment.
"Yaoyao, you're back!"
"Hm." She nodded as she walked straight to her bed. She got the bag underneath and put her books, notebooks, laptop and other things inside.
Surprised by her action, she stood from her desk. "Y... Yaoyao, what are you doing?"
"I will not be staying in the dorms during weekends anymore." She replied without stopping her hands from putting things in her bag.
"Eeehhhh???! Where are you going to stay then? Did you find an apartment already?" She asked.
Li Yao turned around and looked at Minzhe who was standing outside the opened door. Jingyi followed her gaze and was stunned the next second.
Ha... Handsome!
Jingyi shook her head and walked to her side. "Yaoyao, is he your boyfriend? He's so handsome! Are you going to stay with him from now on?" She asked in a low voice. Her tone filled with an unusual delight.
Yaoyao pinched her soft cheeks as she smiled helplessly at her. "Silly. I will return on Monday so just message me if anything happened." She zipped her bag and carried it with her two hands.
"Bye." She said before heading out the room.
Minzhe stepped forward and got the bag from her. She waved at Jingyi before closing the door. "Do you have your exam papers here?" He asked as they walked in the corridor.
"Hm." She nodded obediently.
Along the way, many pair of eyes were still focused on them.
"Liang, look! Isn't that Yaoyao?" His friend, Hong, asked as he stared at the pair.
Liang was holding onto the milktea cup, biting the straw, when he looked up and saw them. He furrowed his brow. "Who's that guy?" He asked airily.
"Must be her boyfriend? No wonder she was never bothered about you. You've been pestering her for a year now and she always rejected you." Hong remarked.
Liang's eyes turned cold. He threw the cup on the ground and walked in hurried paces. He stopped in front of Yaoyao halting her steps.
"Do you need anything?" She asked indifferently.
Liang was sure hurt at her tone. Gnashing his teeth, he glared at Minzhe, whose eyebrows were raised slightly, before turning his attention to Yaoyao back.
"Yaoyao, so you have been rejecting me because of this man?" He asked as he pointed his finger at him.
"You could have told me that you are already seeing someone! And you still let me go after you? You sure know how to play with people's feelings!" He yelled that it caught the attention of the students nearby.
