Disappear...
Even if she was just right in front of him...
Minzhe pursed his lips. He was to break the silence when his phone rang. "Room 021." He said before hanging up, placing the phone aside.
"Ms. Li." He called.
Li Yao turned her head and looked at him. Minzhe reached out a hand to her, his white palm showing with his slender fingers. "Phone."
Not a bit bothered, she rummaged in her bag and took out her phone, handing it to him. Her fingers brushing with his as he took it. He quickly saved his phone number in her contacts and called his own number before returning it to her.
*Knock, knock
Afterwhich, the door opened and two young men, around Minzhe's age came in. When Minzhe looked at them, his cold eyes sent shivers down their spines turning their heads away...
Just to see a girl in front of them...
With widened eyes, theirs mouths popped open. Looking at their Boss once more, what they were thinking were revealed on their faces.
Minzhe tapped the binders resting atop the table. "Send these files asap. Interceptions have higher chances."
"B.. Boss.." Yanlin looked at the girl, who had been staring at his Boss for a while now.
"She's the one we have been working with." Minzhe explained handing the binders to the other guy.
Inhaling, Yanlin took a deep ones, staring more at the young girl in front of them.
And Li Yao kinda hated that...
She furrowed her brows, eyeing the utensils in front of her. She was to reach out to the knife when her hand froze midair.
"Leave." He coldly said. His imposing aura intensified suffocating the two. In hurried paces, Yanlin, followed by the other guy who was calm, left after a slight nod.
Retracting her hand, she turned her head away once more. She knew this man was not simple at all. Well... She's not simple at all too, ah!
After a short while, their dinner was served and the two ate in silence. Meanwhile, the two young men were now seated in the car still feeling the aftereffect of the kingly presence enveloping them for a few seconds a while back.
"You think Boss is interested in her?" Yanlin asked the very same question running through the other's mind.
Lighting a cigarette, he took a drag. "What kind of 'interest' are you referring to?" He asked back.
Starting the engine, the other guy started to drive.
Yanlin did not bother to answer. Indeed, what kind of interest?
...
Finishing the meal, the two rested for a while.
"What are you doing tomorrow?" Minzhe asked.
"Town Library." She replied flatly.
The corner of his lips twitched. As if. He stood up, removing the black windbreaker from he was wearing. "Let's go."
Li Yao stood up. Before she can even get her bag, a warm hand took hold of her thin wrist dragging her petite body in front of him. She furrowed her brows as she looked at the man.
The man, on the other hand, narrowed his eyes as he looked at her beautiful facial features and appreciated them.
He draped the windbreaker on her shoulders, zipping it up to confine her until her mouth was covered. He got her bag, hanging it over his broad shoulder, taking out the cap and putting it on her covering the some parts of her beautiful face. Turning her around, he pushed her gently. "Walk. I'll drive you home."
Still with her brows creased, she turned around and looked at him. Her big deep eyes staring at his. He bent down a little to look at her eyes, the only part visible in her small face, smiling at her warmly before unzipping the part covering her mouth. "Address."
She popped her mouth open and then closed it. She put her head down. Her calm eyes forming ripples of unknown emotion... unknown to him...
After a short while, she faced him once more. "I stay in dorms."
Minzhe, slightly taken aback, frowned. "Own house?"
Dropping her head once more, she sniggered in self-mockery. Own house? As far as she can remember, she never lived in one. The orphanage, Aunt Mian's house, the school dormitory... Guess those were her house? Not that it mattered though.
He suddenly lifted her head up, his index finger holding up her chin. Her lips pursed but her eyes were filled with sadness. That's what he was seeing right now, giving his heart an itch.
He unzipped the windbreaker. "Wear it properly." He ordered and she followed. Zipping it up, he took both of her cold hands with his, his warm palms brushing hers sending warmth to her.
He stood straight up, letting go a hand. "Let's go." He said as he started dragging her with him. His hand clasped against hers tightly. Dumbfounded, she looked at their hands for a while before dropping her head once more letting him have his way.
They got in the car. "Return to the villa." He instructed before removing her cap on her head. He got a blanket, wrapping her with it. "Sleep if you're tired. I'll wake you up." He said softly as he tucked the blanket. His face close to hers, feeling his warm breathing as she stared at him. He stared back, brushing the strands of hair away.
Smooth and soft just as he expected. He patted her head, urging her to close her eyes and rest. Li Yao did and in a matter of seconds, her steady breathing was heard by him.
He let out a sigh in relief. He continued to watch her seemingly peaceful face as she was sleeping on the way.
As it was past 10 pm, there were fewer cars on the road. The travel only took 25 minutes unlike 45 minutes to an hour when it's a rush. He woke her up softly. Li Yao slowly opened her eyes, her eyelashes fluttering, her eyes threatening to close again.
He chuckled. "We arrived already. Bear with it for a while." He then put her cap on, unwrapping the blanket around her. He grabbed her bag as he opened the door. He walked to the other side, opening it for hers. She got out, pulling her cap down lazily. He held her hand and led the way.
Opening the door with his keys, he walked in, letting her sit on the comfy sofa while he put the bag atop the low table in front of it. He went to the kitchen, pouring warm water in two glasses. He drank one while he carried the other and let her drink it.
Li Yao removed her cap before drinking the water served for her. Placing the glass on the tabletop, he held her wrist with one hand, holding her bag with the other. He led her to his bedroom, letting her sit on the edge of the bed. "There are new toothbrush, bathrobes and towels in the bathroom. Take a shower. I'll go to the supermarket to buy you clothes of your size so wait here. Okay?"
Li Yao looked at him. "Why are you being nice to me?" She asked straightforwardly.
Her question was responded with an eyebrow raised from him. Smirking, "I wonder..." He patted her head.
"Be a good girl." He said before leaving the room.
As his figure disappeared, she drooped her head down. Her eyes once more forming ripples, an unknown small smile appeared on her lips.
Going down the stairs, he made a phone call. "Li Yao. Investigate her for me."
After 20 minutes, she got out the shower room in a bathrobe with a tower drying her hair with one hand. She heard a knock then. She walked towards the door and opened it. She looked up.
Minzhe was staring at her. His gaze on her wet hair going down her small face. Droplets of water were invading her neck, collarbone, dissipating through the bathrobe.
She stepped aside to let him in. As he stepped forward, he held her supple wrist and led her to the bed to sit. Putting the bags atop the bed, he got the towel from her and dried her hair. His slender fingertips brushing through her soft hair.
Once done, he ran his fingers once more on her soft hair to comb it.
He squatted down in front of her. "Are you really going to the Town Library tomorrow?" He asked.
A guilty look crossed on her face. She hang her head down. "No. I will return to the dorms. I have homework to do and my things are there." She said truthfully.
Helpless, he smiled. "Alright. I will go with you." He stood up. "There are clothes in the bags. Change to them and go to sleep at once." He said before going to his closet for a change of clothes and leaving the room.
