Unexpected Confession

Sae Ron walked home, lost in thought about the science exhibition. The looming deadline, the conflicting ideas within her team, and the general chaos of the project were swirling in her mind. Suddenly, she felt a presence beside her. It was Jae Hyun, walking at a comfortable distance.

"You know," Jae Hyun began, breaking the silence, "So Young is being a real pain."

Sae Ron chuckled. "Tell me about it. She's been giving me the cold shoulder all day."

"She's jealous," Jae Hyun stated bluntly.

Sae Ron stopped, feigning surprise. "Jealous? Of what?" she asked, though a blush crept up her neck.

Jae Hyun hesitated, then blurted out, "Because... I... I sometimes... you know..." He trailed off, unable to articulate his feelings.

Sae Ron's heart skipped a beat. She stared at him, speechless, her mind racing. She had suspected it, the way he looked at her, the way he always seemed to be around, but hearing him say it out loud was completely unexpected.

"I... I don't know what you mean," she stammered, her voice barely audible.

Jae Hyun sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Forget it," he muttered, turning away.

"Wait," Sae Ron said, grabbing his arm. "Tell me. What do you mean?"

Jae Hyun looked at her, his eyes searching hers. "I... I think I might like you," he confessed, his voice barely a whisper.

Sae Ron's breath hitched. She stared at him, speechless, her mind reeling. This wasn't how she expected this to happen. One minute they were discussing the merits of different project ideas, and the next, he was confessing his feelings for her.

"I... I don't know what to say," she finally managed to stammer.

Jae Hyun smiled, a genuine smile that reached his eyes. "It's okay," he said softly. "You don't have to say anything."

They walked in silence for a few moments, the air between them thick with unspoken emotions. Sae Ron felt a strange lightness, a sense of exhilaration she hadn't expected.

"So," Jae Hyun said, breaking the silence, "about the project..."

Sae Ron smiled. "Right, the project. I have an idea."

As they discussed the project, Sae Ron couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement. Maybe this project wouldn't be so bad after all. Maybe working with Jae Hyun wouldn't be so unbearable. In fact, maybe it would be quite enjoyable.

Later that evening, Sae Ron couldn't sleep. Jae Hyun's confession kept replaying in her mind. She wondered if her feelings were reciprocated. Did she like him back? She wasn't sure. But she couldn't deny that spending time with him lately had been... interesting.

She remembered the way he had helped her with her chemistry notes, the way he had looked at her with that intense gaze, the way his voice had trembled when he confessed his feelings. A blush crept up her neck.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed. It was a message from an unknown number.

"Hey, it's Jae Hyun. I know it's late, but I couldn't stop thinking about what I said earlier. I hope I didn't scare you."

Sae Ron smiled, her heart pounding. She quickly typed a reply: "No, you didn't scare me. I just... I wasn't expecting it."

Jae Hyun replied almost instantly: "Me neither. But I had to tell you. I couldn't keep it bottled up anymore."

Sae Ron hesitated, then typed: "I... I don't know what to say either. But I'll think about it."

Jae Hyun: "Okay. No pressure. Just wanted to be honest."

Sae Ron smiled at her phone. Honesty. That was something she appreciated about him. He was always direct, even when it was difficult.

She put her phone down and stared at the ceiling, a comfortable warmth spreading through her. Maybe this unexpected turn of events wouldn't be so bad after all. Maybe things were finally starting to look up.

The next morning, Sae Ron woke up with a renewed sense of purpose. The science project, which had seemed like such a daunting task yesterday, now seemed like an exciting challenge. She was looking forward to working with Jae Hyun, to spending more time with him, to getting to know him better.

As she got ready for school, she couldn't help but wonder what the future held. Would this be the start of something new, something special? Only time would tell. But for now, she was content to enjoy the uncertainty, to savor the thrill of the unknown.
