Chapter 3: Lunch

I went to the boy that was sitting alone and said “Hey wanna go get lunch with me.”The boy looked confused with his long bangs covering his eyes the boy said quietly “oh Are you talking to me sorry I didn't bring any money today and I’m not hungry” The boy stomach started growling. I said “ What about I treat you to lunch if you accompany me I want to check out the cafeteria ” The boy quietly said “ ok I will go with you “ While we were walking to the cafeteria I realized that his shoes are really beat up and the sole are about to come off and his clothes are all very worn out and old. I said “This school really surprised me. I didn't expect the school to be this big. I'm glad that this school gives us a long lunch so that we don’t rush.``The boy kept quiet. I was thinking that it was awkward that I don't know what to talk about. I guess I will introduce myself then “So I’mJason what your name man.“ The poor boy spoke softly and quietly “um my name is luke'' I was wondering why he is so quiet but it would be rude of me to ask him so I just said.“Nice to meet you man, let's get in line, don't worry about what you get. It will be on me. I heard the food in the school is great.” Luke said quietly “ok” we got in line to get food. I was amazed at what they had here. I said “Wow this place is cool. They have all types of food. To Asian to Italian food I can't wait to eat.” Luke said, “Yea it's surprising how much food is here.”We finally got up to the ordering station and I said “Umm can I get a bowl of Miso Ramen with pork cullet and an Ice coffee please Luke come on and order.“ Luke quietly said “ I will take Cheeseburger with fries and a soda please,” the lunch lady said “ your order will be $30 how will you pay “ “I will pay with card,” the lady said “okay your order will be ready in 5 minutes” We started to walk over to get the food and I looked a luke he was looking at the ground most of the time with a sad face. I am wondering if he has some issues at home. I wanted to ask but I don't think he will answer me since we just met. I feel bad for him. It looks like he has been through some rough times. “Luke I think our food is ready let’s go, “ Luke said “ok” we went on to get our food and tried to find a seat the cafeteria is packed “luke let’s go over there I thinking I found a table,” Luke said “okay” We finally sat down and started to eat Luke took a bite of his food. And then he started to cry “hey luke are you alright why are you crying?” Luke started talking while wiping off his tears” I’m sorry Jason I just haven't had a good meal like this in a while since my dad passed away a couple years ago. Nobody treated me like this, not even my own guardians.” I was feeling bad for him wondering what happened to him. He definitely went through a lot these couple of years. I started to ask him “Hey it's alright you want to talk about it? You don't have to if you don't want to but if you want a person to talk to you can always come to me.” Luke started to shed more tears and Luke started to talk.
