Chapter Five

The ride away from her old neighborhood was a long one. The limo they were in smelt clean fresh and comfortable; Rica was curious as to why her father had left her with her mother if he was so damn rich enough to take care of her but she honestly didn’t want to know. Not because she feared it might hurt her but because she didn’t really care.

All through the silent ride, Rica only stared out the window at the tress and beautiful buildings and skyscrapers but her mind wasn’t really focusing on this; something else tug at her heart causing her to hate the man sitting beside her who calls himself her father.

If only he had been a few months earlier, he would have saved Risa. She would have probably agreed to go with him happily if he took Risa with them. But no, he had to be late; had to wait until when she lost the one person she truly loved the most.

She pushed the thoughts of Risa out of her mind, not because she didn’t want to think about her, but because thinking about her did nothing to bring her back to normal. She was completely gone and dead inside. She had no soul any more.

“doesn’t it hurt” her so called father asked with a small hint of concern as he stared at her bleeding arm that still had Pieces of broken vase in.

She didn’t reply and kept on staring out the window. Although it stings, she didn’t care, she wanted the pain.

She had him sigh loudly and then he took hold of the small first aid box on the table close to the window. He brought out an incisors and began working to remove the glass being as gentle as ever but Rica didn’t react, she just continue to stare out the window.

“If you don’t feel comfortable calling me dad, you can just call me by my real name; Zachariah Benardo the third or just call me Zack”

His last name sounded familiar but Rica didn’t care. He looked famous and seems like a big time business man and yet she still ignored him.

After a long silence, he went on “aren’t you going to ask why I came for you now even though I knew she had you a long time ago?”

This time she looked back at him and she saw the amusement in his eyes as she stared at that gray eyes that seems to mirror hers “please” she began watching as his eyebrows raised in wonder of what she might be begging for “please” she continued “stop talking”

She entertained herself with the shocked look on his face at her words before turning back towards the window and a smirk made its way to her lips. Whatever he had to say to her about his past was not important to her.

He being here now didn’t matter to her anymore. She had always wanted to meet her dad so that she could take Risa and escape her mother’s Abuse but her dad never came and she kept on hoping because she had Risa.

Risa was gone now.

So it didn’t matter.

They arrived at an extremely huge mansion at about 6pm in the evening. The sun was going down causing the place to be close to darkness.

If Rica had been her normal self, she would have marveled at the massive size of the mansion that stood before her. But yet she found that she didn’t care one bit; she always wanted to live in a house like this with Risa by her side but now that she was no longer around, it was all useless.

The place was huge and filled with beautiful flowers of different colours giving the air a pleasant smell. Although it was getting dark and Rica could not see clearly, she noticed a field, filled with many training equipment like in a military.

They were several men in black surrounding the mansion and many young women in a maid’s outfit. Her damn father was a billionaire.

As she followed Zack into the mansion, she noticed some of the maids staring at her curiously and although the suit guys tried to look strict with their dark sunglasses stuck to their eyes, she could tell that they were also curious.

Nevertheless, she ignored them all and followed her father into the huge mansion. It was even more beautiful inside the mansion because the lights were turned on and everything was sparkling.

There was a huge set of stairs in the center of the room and many different hallways downstairs probably leading to more rooms.

Beside the stairs sat a comfortable set of leather sofa and a huge television glued to the wall in front of it.

It had been a long time since she had ever set eyes on a television and she wasn’t planning to.

“This way” Zack’s deep masculine voice pulled her out of her thoughts as she followed him up the stairs.

They got to one of the many rooms and he pulled open the door with his thumb print. Although fascinated, she remains emotionless.

He pushed open the door when the lock clicked and Rica was met with a thick black room where a huge massive king-sized bed sat in the middle and a bathroom on the left-hand side while closet sat on the right hand side.

She walked deeper into the room, studying the new set of computer on a table a little far from the bed. She looked around with the same blank expression although she really liked how lifeless the room feels.

“Do you like it?” Zack asked as if nervous

“I can manage” she answered looking straight at him.

He nodded at her “alright and there are a lot of clothes in the closet, you can pick anyone you like and also. Take a bath and come down for dinner”

“I’m not hungry” she told him in a blatant tone

He sighed “I’ll send someone up here to give you dinner” He totally ignored her word; she noticed. “And also” he stopped halfway out the door “get some rest after dinner because we have a lot of talking to do tomorrow” he shut the door and walked out.

She immediately went to the huge massive bathroom to take a bath and after a hot bath she walked into the closet and saw that it was bigger than a normal closet. It was like shopping center.

She picked out a pair of short shorts and a huge t shirt that falls off her shoulders every now and then. Then she lay in bed with her arm pressed into the mattress waking up the pain from her injured arm.

It was now properly washed after she took off the bandage that Zack had neatly wrapped around it. Feeling the pain burn through her skin, she pressed her arm harder to feel more of it. She moaned as if satisfied with the pain before slowly drifting into sleep. Not before hearing the door shut, probably her dinner leaving.
