Chapter 5

One of the monsters lunged at my liver.  I dodge so it doesn't hit the liver but the cut is too big and too deep.

I’m losing too much blood.  Everything is getting cloudy.  I can't think straight.

“Listen kid. I never planned to let you get away after killing one of my guys,” I dropped the knife soon after and kneel while holding the wound, “You’ll just have to sleep while we're moving.”

“There’s poison on that sword, isn’t there?  I wasn’t expecting this.  You sure did surprise me.”  Was all I could say before the darkness closed in.

POV Princess

Uggh,” I go for a walk without my bodyguards one time and this is what happens.

Why is it so dark? I can’t see a thing.  I feel so numb, too.  Wait!  The feeling in my hands is coming back.

I don’t feel rope on them either.  I can’t believe they left me untied.

I stand up.  Geesh, I shouldn’t have done that, now I have a head rush.  I lean against the wall to steady myself.  I start to walk, but I hit something and it falls over with a thud.

“Geesh, what’s up with kids and not wanting to stay still?”

I hear a voice and footsteps coming closer.  Then the door opens.

I’m standing there frozen and shaking while the door opens.

“Princess try not to be too rough with him.  You shouldn’t kick people when they’re tied up.”

I look down to find a boy tied up just like the man said.  He was badly hurt and had lots of cuts, “Listen Princess, if you can help him be my guest but you better not untie him.”

I really don’t like these people.  Beating up a boy that doesn’t look anymore than 11 is clearly criminal.  It’s not right.

“Can I have a light and medical kit?  I’m going to help but I promise not to untie him, okay?”

“Sure, I’ll bring it.”  Then he left.  I guess it’s a good thing that I took healing magic lessons a few years back.

It took a few minutes but the man came back with the supplies and left the room.  I was able to heal his minor injuries and help stop the bleeding of his major ones, but it still needed to be disinfected and bandaged.

When I got done with that I studied the place.  It’s a warehouse with lots of boxes.  Nothing else.

Why do they want the boy and me? I know I’ve made a few enemies that want me dead, but they didn’t kill me.  And this boy has no connection to me so why bring him.

Are they going to use me for ransom?  If so then I mind as well be...

The boy is beginning to stir.  What should I do?  Should I ask him why he’s here?

“Gah, tch,” it doesn't look like he noticed me and its in a lot of pain, but then he looks at me and asks, "Excuse me, you weren't here before, we're you?"

“No, I wasn’t.  Are you hurt?  It seemed like you were in a lot of pain before.”

“I'm fine,” he looked like he winced while saying that, but it could've just been my imagination.

A few moments later he asked, "Can you sit me up, please?"
