Chapter 4

If I challenge her, I won't have to win.  All I need to do is find an opening and make a run for it. I'll try provoking her first.

“You know that’s very stupid of you.  To explain your plan to me, I mean.  Come on, how about this.  If I beat you one on one in a sword fight you have to let me go, okay?  And if you win, I'll go with you peacefully.”

“What makes you think I’ll keep my word?”

“Because of your status.  If you don’t keep your word then you lose trust in your companions, and if you don’t accept you look weak.  The real thing you should be worried about is if I’ll keep my promise.”

I don’t really have anything to worry about seeing how I used to be a kendo master, but that's only if it's one on one.

She looks worried, like she’s actually considering it, I don’t think she quite understands that she doesn't have a choice until she says, “Deal.”

I grab a katana that was close by.

The way she moves is useless.  She basises every move of hers off of experience and it has no technique.  It looks like she’s practically swinging a stick.

I use my skills the best I can, but with her being so tall, it’s hard to reach her vital points. There’s a knife not too far away, if I can get that and throw it instead…

BANG!!! 

“You know kid, you’re really not all that bad, but don’t you think a sword like that is a bit much for you?”

“You’re right.  I’ll need something a bit smaller! Uggh!” I said and ran for the knife.

But I didn't see the thing next to it.

Some monster was right there. It's so disgusting to look at I think of adbandoning my plan, but it's too late, I was going to fast and they had to have realized what I was planning by now.

The katana, still in my hand, I use it to slice the thing in his stomach (at least there area where one should be.) Then I grab the knife.

That’s the que that this is no longer a one on one.  It’s turned into a one on 14 fight.

“Wow, kid, you really are something. To think you're so stupid to attack one of my comrades. You really do have a death wish. Well, now matter, we'll just end this quickly."

I move over to the corpse on the ground.  It had the bottom half of a snake and top of a human man.  I see that he has a mirror next to him.  When I look in the mirror I’m in shock.

The person looking back at me has one yellow eye on the right and a green eye on the left.  They also have black hair that looks like it hasn't been cut in a year. The bangs are messey and long. Two medium sized horns a top the head. Honestly he looks like my ideal type, but this is too much.

Then it came to me.  The thing I killed was actually dead.  I thought this was just a movie at first, but now I have a completely different view of things.  These people weren’t lying.  They’re planning on really selling me.

They’re lunging at me now.  One by one they take a strike.  It’s impossible to dodge them all. One scratches the arm and the other hits so hard that it hurt my wrist.

I noticed this thing above my head. It had a green bar that says 800/1000. Like the thing you see in RPG games.
