Something in the dark

Chapter - 5

The plains at night were giving a different scent of something reeked in flowers. Those plains left behind in their small talk and Adriel's feet became faster. As it was clear to Alice that he was fearing something, she asked,

"what happened Adriel?"

He stopped, moved to her looking around

consciously,

"We need to get out of this place as fast as we can otherwise something bad is going to happen. I don't have time to explain why, so let's just run for now."

something also felt weird to Alice too about the surroundings. They ran faster and faster every second counting. His steps became faster than ever before. the night became murky and thick from where they pass. It became too dark that she needed her clairvoyant eyes to penetrate it. Adriel could see it with his normal human eyes.

"Someone is following us", she looked at Adriel, "what is it?" she asked, "wait there more of them."

"They are followers of darkness. Adriel finally opened his mute,

"They have many eyes, so many that you can't count them and dark enough for you to can't see them in the night. They are people who die a terrible death and if they'll bite you even once, your blood will boil to the level that you'll become mud of blood splatter on the ground. And the last thing, they never come alone."

Alice could feel their presence for the environment was becoming more fearful.

She tripped her leg on a rock and fell on the ground, as Adriel's horror became real he instantly came back and set her on his back grabbing her both feet tightly overlapping his hands which were slightly painful to her. She tightened her hands lapped around his neck.

Concentrating her clairvoyance light in her two eyes when she opened them turning back at the footsteps it was illuminating the whole area behind them, leaving the ground alone. The enormous hoard of black dogs following them was socking the light. They were almost around a hundred in numbers and had many eyes all over their body as Adriel said. Those starving ravenous eyes were looking directly at her. Her horrified face slowly turned forward shakily from Adriel's fast steps. Every second they were coming near and near to each other.

But Alice was surprised by his speed when it's against an animal and not the normal but supernatural which is far higher in comparison to them. And he was even weighing her on his back which was incredible.

The plains ended there with the dawn of jungles. Now it was hard for Adriel to run with an increasing speed which he still was trying to but he could easily Dodge their attacks jumping from one bough to another. Making distance was beyond concept now, he was hardly able to stay a fit away from them.

"Is there any way to get out of this hornet's nest?" she asked with her expanding fear.

"Yeah, there is one," his eyes were concentrating on the route his feet were measuring, "This forest, if we can make it out of this forest they won't follow us anymore."

the answer made her curious for the reason they wouldn't follow them after the forest,

"But why, why don't they attack after that?"

"you'll know." Adriel ceased the sentence with that letting her imaginations make their ideas.

DHAM. DHAM. DHAM.., something huge was trailing them. A giant figure of black dog was there absorbing other black dogs into his body becoming more and more powerful. No tree could stop it because of the speed and strength it was generating every moment. Adriel was at a disadvantage now because of the same trees saving him from them. He was almost out of stamina which made his feet slower, Alice could see that. suddenly the giant black dog tugged its mouth to eat her head off which took Adriel by surprise and in an attempt to save dodge it, he flung himself as far as he could which injured him, not fatal but after this much excercise, a little injury feels like a hole in the chest. he was huffing with his burning lungs. Alice was some steps away from him on the ground. He stood up and saw that the border was under his field of vision but on the other hand, Alice was half conscious with the black dog almost caught up with him.

The sudden realization of the situation made his adrenaline go berserk. But there was no time for them both to make it out. Flying to Alice he grabbed her both ankles swinging around gritting his teeth threw her out of the forest and

took out the Tera swinging in omnidirection ambidextrously keeping enemies away. His sword skills seemed to be at their Apex.

Adriel made his first step out of the forest. Alice saw an animal almost as humongous as the one following them appearing out of thin air jumping over Adriel onto the black dog. The sight of two feral beasts eating each other alive was creepy as hell to them both. The one that appeared was white. it had white fur and beautiful blue eyes and faster sharp teeth. Their collision was making the earth tremble. They were taller than the trees, and their blood was disappearing before it dropped on the ground. Their healing properties were on a different level than humans or any other creatures. With each attack they became fiercer, their claws were tearing each other apart healing right after that. Biting the enemy without thinking about themself was showing their feral nature.

"It is the guardian of the living and soul enemy of the black dog. It has never let them come to this side of the forest."

Finally, the white dog defeated the black one with unimaginable efforts. It became all bloody and weak after this long battle but was healing with lower speed again.

It came to Adriel and Alice slowly lowering its head near theirs, Alice placed her hands on its long beautiful soft white fur on the mouth following Adriel's. She hugged it.

"As far as this protects us", Adriel said patting the white dog's head, "And when it'll die, there will be no one to save us from those dogs."

It swiftly disappeared in the air as it came there.

"wow, what a life you are living" she taunted him.

"Yeah, he replied sighing on his feet again, "I was the one running with piggyback the whole time."

"Hey, I am not so heavy!!!" she bumped her elbow into his walking their way forward once more.
