Day 2

I was scared to see what this new day held, I hadn’t slept well what so ever and I was starving since I hadn’t eaten since the morning before my shift started.

I heard foot steps coming down the stairs and then the door unlocked and opened.

It was the man from last night holding a plate of what seemed to be food, my eyes lit up as I was starving but I knew I couldn’t trust him.

“Eat” he set a plate down in front of me

Peas and mashed potatoes with a slab of meat.

I stayed quite, and just studied his movements, he was fixing up the bed sheets and Fidding with the counter tops and then one light that hung over the sink. I looked down at the plate of food in front of me and wanted to just shovel it in my face I was so hungry.

“Go one eat kid,” he glanced over his shoulder at me and spoke like I was his granddaughter or kid or something.

“Why am I here?” I softly asked holding my tears back.

I didn’t want to cry in front of this man again and show my weaknesses.

“Your family now,” he spoke like he had known me my whole life.

“What’s ur name?” I questioned him what was a big mistake on my end.

He ignored me and just kept playing around with the light.

“There, you guys have light now!” he flipped the light switch and smiled at his work of a lit door,

“You guys?” I questioned him once again.

“Shut up and eat ur fucking food and stop asking questions!” He turned and scared at me which broke me and I started crying again.

“I just want to go home...” I sobbed again

He stormed out of the room and locked the door behind him and stomped up the stairs and I could he muffled yelling and then talking then I heard soft steps coming to the door and it unlocked and in walked a female, she was blonde and a older lady with a bit of weight on her and she started towards me after closing the door.

“Hey there..” she softly said as she slowly walked towards me.

“My names melody,” she smiled and pulled a chair from the table and sat down across from me.

I had stopped sobbing and was know looking at her confused.

“Please I just want to go home!” I sobbed even louder.

“Look hunny I’ve bin here for years, they won’t hurt you, they just want you to be safe and happy, nothing else matters to them but that,” she said all this is a genuine concern and haft smile while looking deeply sorry at me.

“ I was happy we’re I came from!” I shouted loudly at her, making her jump back in her seat a little bit.

I felt a cold hand smack across my face, stunning me for a second and leaving me looking puzzled.

“LOOK I DIDNT WANT TO BE HERE ETHER, BUT I COMPLAINED THIS MUCH!” Her voice cracking and getting all waving like she wanted to cry.

I didn’t say another word, I was speechless and just looked at my feet the rest of the time until she stood up, pushed in the chair, and started towards the door before turning to me once more.

“They won’t be back for a few days now, they went to prepare are new house, so I’ll be bringing you down a snack in a hour or two. I exspect you to be sitting in that chair at the table ready to have a nice conversation with me.”
