The Spring We Lost (Short Story)

One.

..."Bogoshipda."...

..."How long do I have to wait?...

...How many sleepless nights do I have to take? ...

...To finally see you? ...

...To meet you?" ...

"Hey Ami, wake up! We need to wake up early or you will be late for work," Jayzyl said while opening the windows.

"Cassy, give me 10 minutes, I want to sleep more."

"I'm not your mother, And I too have a duty that awaits. You aren't a doctor, are you? Make it we'll be late!" she said as she went outside the room.

"Fine." I removed my earphone, yes I always use earphones when sleeping. I stood up and stretched to get the blood flowing.

"Breakfast is ready, come, let's eat," she called.

I have lived with my best friend in Korea for years now. I'm lucky to have her in my life, and of course, she is the one who introduced us to our favorite boy band BTS.

Exhaustion caught up to me, a result of staying up late at night watching BTS mvs.

It's been a while since BTS disbanded. But that didn't stop me from loving them all the same as before. I glanced at the calendar.

It's spring, I smile fondly at the thought. Spring has always been my favorite season.

My smile fades as the bitter thought seeps into my brain. "Today is July 9."

They will remain in my heart forever. Till this day, I'm still hoping I'd get a chance to meet them again.

I sighed, their absence...it's rather painful. I miss you, we all do.

My eyes closed as I remembered the things that happened that day

(flashback)

It's finally spring, I sat in the living room alongside my best friend, eating some snacks as we watched the news. Tomorrow is a special day for both BTS and Armys and to say we were excited would be an understatement.

"Ohh look BTS is in the news!"

"On July 9, ARMYs are going to celebrate their anniversary"

We screamed and jumped not caring what people think, stopping after a while to continue eating.

I know we looked like absolute crackheads but we can't help it when it comes to our boys. I guess you can tell I'm livin' life, and I'm enjoying it.

Or so I thought.

"But we've got some sad news ARMYs."

Cassy and I glanced at each other wondering what it could be.

"On the same day. BTS will be splitting up tomorrow."

Both of us were in silence. I freeze, my chest constricting and my brain failing to process or believe what I'm hearing right now.

"Wait what..?" Cassy said, her lips trembling.

"No. It can't be true" I denied.

"Tell me this is a prank. Or a dream."

I would be lying if I said those words are not heartbreaking. It really did hurt after hearing those words.

"Why now?"

I and Cassy went in as planned. We could see a lot of other Armys there, holding up banners.

One of the Armys gestured for us to start

"Ready."

We began to say their names from our lips

..."KIM NAMJOON...

...KIM SEOKJIN ...

...MIN YOONGI ...

...JUNG HEOSOK ...

...PARK JIMIN ...

...KIM TAEHYUNG ...

...JEON JUNGKOOK ...

...BTS!!!!!" ...

We shouted as loud as we could. People stared at us, judging because we didn't care anymore.

As cliche as it sounds, they are my everything. They're the ones who taught me how to love myself and to be myself. Although it might seem as if we're all overreacting. But that's not it, BTS simply means a lot and we're thankful for every smile that graced my face due to them. BTS meant a lot to me, and I thanked them for making us Armys happy.

A kid, holding a mic, started singing.

..."Snowflakes keep falling down...

...They drift away further around...

...We're missing you ...

...Yes, We miss you ...

...And how long do we have to wait?...

...How many sleepless nights do I have to take?...

...To finally see you ...

...To meet you?"...

It turns out that he is a child of an ARMY, we then sang with him.

..."Passing by the edge of this winter...

...At least until the change of the weather...
