Episode 4

Ging walked into the flat closing the door behind him, Hail and Laila were sprigged across the bed sleeping Hail’s arm sprigged across Laila.

Ging coughed loudly waking Laila.

‘Ging.’

He smiled.

She pocked Hail.

‘Wha!’ He muttered.

‘Ging is here’.

‘Shit!’

He shot up looking directly at Ging.  ‘Ging.’

‘Cosy aren’t we?’

‘I thought that you weren’t coming till later?’

‘It’s four in the afternoon.’

‘Shit!’

Laila and Hail pulled themselves up.

‘Now I’ve got you’re full attention we need to get down to business.’

‘Sure take a pew.’

Ging sat on the bed looking directly at them.

‘We need to find different angles of getting Laila up on stage maybe we should have her on the crucifix, like the first time.  But this time put her in front of the crowed no intro just going straight into the song?’

‘Why can’t we leave it as we planned?’

‘Just try it if it doesn’t work we’ll go back to the original plan okay.’

Okay.’

‘You up for it Laila?’

‘Suppose I’ve got no choice in it.’

‘Good girl.’

Ging looked at the two of them.

‘We try it Saturday.’

‘Okay.’

‘Laila?’

‘Yeah.’

‘Good.’

Ging looked at Hail.  ‘A word.’

‘Sure.’

They pulled themselves up and walked out of the room into the kitchen.

Ging looked directly at Hail.  ‘What’s going on?’

‘Nothing.’

‘So why were you draped all over her?’

‘I fell tired I didn’t think it would hurt.’

‘Try and keep your feelings to yourself.’

‘You fancy her too!’

‘But I don’t let it get in the way of what we are doing.’

‘I’m not.’

‘I knew that it was a bad idea leaving you alone with her. After next Saturday I’ll be staying here, making sure nothing goes on.’

‘But.’

‘No buts.’

‘Sure what-ever!’

Ging followed Hail back into the living area from the kitchen.  ‘Well I’ll see you next Saturday.’

‘Fine.’

‘Laila’.

She smiled.

Ging walked out of the room and down the hall opening the flat door stepping out closing it.

‘What’s with your face?’

‘Him he’s a prick, he ruins everything.’

‘Why what’s he done?’

‘He’s moving in.’

‘Why?’

‘He thinks my felling for you are getting in the way of the job in hand.’

‘And are they?’

‘No.’

‘So why is he moving in here then?’

‘Cause what he says goes.’

‘Great! I was just getting used to being here alone with you now I’ve got to put up with him too.’

‘Afraid so.’

Laila sighed, Hail placed his arm round her.

‘Guess we’ll have to make the most of the time we’ve got together.’

                                                                                        ~

                                                                           The following weekend

Hail was right the week seemed to fly past and Saturday night had arrived. Ging had gone over what was going to happen for the millionth time so that there were no screw ups.

Crucifix had taken the stage an hour previous and now were on a fifteen minute break to get the stage ready for the finally. They had locked the six foot crucifix in place it had taken a forty five degree angle different from the other night that they had used it when it was positioned head on to the crowd. it had been Ging’s idea to place it to alter the angle so it was turned slightly away from the crowed both Hail and Laila were beginning to regret their decision to agreeing to it, but it was too late now.

Hail strapped Laila to the crucifix he looked at Laila.  ‘You okay?’

‘Yeah.’

‘Just remember what we talked about.’

‘I will.’

‘I’ll see you in one minute.’ He said kissing her quickly before departing her company.

She smiled.

The crowed gathered

Hail walked away disappearing behind the curtains.

‘Tonight we are about to perform our very own crucifixion a girl has already been personally chosen.’

‘So who’s up for a crucifixion?’

The crowed roared, the curtains levered up

The lights shone on Laila the guitars and drums intoed.

The crowed screamed

‘You know what time it is?’ Hail said holding the microphone out into the crowed.

‘Crucifix time.’

‘I can’t hear you.’

‘Crucifix time.’

‘I still can’t hear you.’

‘CRUCIFIX TIME.’

The room rumbled.

‘She’s on the crucifix what shall I do?’

‘Kill her!’

‘She’s hung for doing wrong what shall I do?’

‘Kill her!’

He held the microphone out to the crowd.   ‘I can’t hear you.’

‘Kill her!’

He pulled a knife out of his pocket showing it to the audience, they stood shocked.

‘Child of the crucifix could do no wrong but she lost her way what shall I do?’

‘Kill her!’

‘The gods have spoken we must kill the child of the crucifix of the devil.’

Hail turned winking at Laila.

He slashed her.

Her head hung limp.

‘A cross I leave on the child of the crucifix now she is dead the devil is no longer.’

The room filled with wolf whistles.

‘Goodnight and god bless.’

The curtains dropped the lights dimmed.

The echoed cheers of the audience faded.

‘Laila, Laila you can stop acting now.’’

She hung on the cross limp.

‘Laila, Laila!’ He said sharply slapping her face.   ‘Laila.’ He repeated slapping her face harder.

‘Owe.’

She looked at him.

‘What did you do that for?’

‘I wish you’d stop doing that.’ He said as he untied her.

‘I can’t help it.’

He took her hands and led her down the steps.

‘Great superb.’ Ging said as he walked over to them kissing Laila’s cheek.  Ging looked at Hail.  ‘See I told you it would work.’

‘Yeah it did.’

‘I’ll see you to at the flat I’ve got to lock up.’

‘Sure.’

He looked at Laila.

‘Coming?’

‘Yeah.’

Hail draped his arm round Laila they walked out of the club.

Ging closed the door behind him he looked over to the bed where Hail and Laila lay sleeping.

‘Guess I’ve got the sofa.’

He leaped onto the sofa closing his eyes.
