A gentleman. . .

Poppies are red

Tulips are yellow

And- oh!... What a charming good fellow

Busses are yellow, taking children to school

Green are the grasses

Blue are clear and heartwarming glasses

Glasses that clink together with a drink inside as men sing their drunk and old rhymes

Blue is the sky with white and gray clouds

Indigo are the seas- and starry skies too

The starry skies that men, women, and children look to- as a child, maybe, so did you

Indigo are the bluebonnets that bloom in the Texas sun

Violet are the royal silks that blue blood has worn for so long

Silks are treasures with dark history, they have no war raided song

Violet and green are the bruises grazing one’s skin with slender fingertips

Red fingertips graze the sky too- the sky in the morning and afternoon

The dawn and dusk with red fingers, paints the loving sky as its beauty never wavers

Colors are everywhere in whether pain or beauty. “Pain is beauty” many may say... I disagree in that way. Beauty is the soul, clean, fresh, not dark with sins of the flesh...

And keep in mind that nobody is colorblind. No- no that doesn’t mean physically, it means mentally. Implicit biases, you must admit you have them, you must face your thoughts or you give way to the weed’s stem! You give way for the flower to bloom, and in turn you have no more room. No more room for unbiased or “the other side’s” thoughts, no way to tell what is or what is not. Keep in mind that we are not colorblind. Not colorblind but clearheaded, not unbiased but unleashed in opinion, not guided but given choice. Economy, policy, all of that is one thing. One thing is also memory, belief, a different one thing that people must accept so the world won’t have to face such- then unavoidable- grief.

—————————————————

You must believe me

I will not lie

My opinion of black lives

Who cares?

They’re exactly the same

The same as white or Latinos

They deserve no such shame

I don’t understand

These are my thoughts

Why teach children things that make them cry tears of blood

The blood of others-

But not from long ago

Blacks are made at white

Whites can be too mean though

I don’t get it

Discrimination is terrible but why are we responsible

A death or two of blacks from all whites is impossible

It doesn’t describe us

That is improbable

Don’t generalize us

I care

I have black friends

Though they seem to care

They seem to generalize-

Unintentionally- against all whites

You see. . .

We are generalized

We are discriminated against

For our past hurting their lives

I’m not a descendant of purely American blood

No- I’m mostly European and Irish for one

Two- I don’t understand this

I know that this is all terribly tragic

Though you should stay calm

The protestors don’t riot

True belief isn’t something so raw... it...

It should be sharing your opinion forged in fact

Cast with gold reason and polished with clear wax

Please don’t be mean to all of us

We really do care

Some of you are mean

Some of us are too

Just know that we personally didn’t do anything to you

Ancestors-... yes

Yes they may have

But just because I am not black does not mean I won’t lend black skinned people a hand

Please understand

Hear my plead

Stop all this insanity

You’re hurting us

And you may think rightfully so

But you got your own rights- the same as ours since long ago

Police are more of everything else but white people now

In fact minorities and females are more likely to be hired

Only because otherwise you’ll say we’re racist

Don’t look at that-

Not even a glance

Give us all an equal chance

We will with you-

Give us no doubt

Skin does not matter

Toss that about

Implicit bias- subconsciously engraved

A matter of grave importance

Cannot be erased

No matter how nice that would be

Despite that we can be happy

Work, relax a bit, pray, sit awhile, smile, think positively, try containing all the bad things

But don’t wait for the jar to blow under pressure you’ve been compounding since long ago

No- release it to God

Even if you don’t think he exists

Himself- it is he that he will take it upon

Release them to him

Be nice and gay (old meaning if gay means happy, joyous, etc. and not LGBTQ)

Don’t you ever let your emotions show you the way

( ̄^ ̄)ゞ or I’ll hit you with mah cane (not really) (..inside joke here)
