After closing the door of her room behind her, Nami let out a long tired sigh. She just came back from the little meeting she had with her friends at the ice cream parlor. She was hoping that James could enlighten them on how he got his power, but he kept answering their questions with "I don't know". "Maybe". "I don't think so". It made Liam so frustrated he buried his face into the palms of his own hand and loudly breathed out. The mere image alone made Nami chuckled.
With her tired legs, Nami limped her way to her bed.
Without changing her clothes first, Nami immediately dropped her tired body onto the soft and comfy surface of the bed. Her body then laid motionless for a moment. She was too tired to pick herself back up and take a shower. Since she was going to shower in the morning anyway, she decided to just rest for the night.
It didn't take long until Nami fell asleep and her concsiousness drifted off.
. . .
Nami could faintly hear someone calling out her name. She tried opening her eyes only to be met by darkness. No matter where she tried to look at, it was all dark. The voice called out her name once more, but this time she heard it louder and clearer.
She tried moving her body, but realized she couldn't. In fact, she couldn't feel anything. Not her body, not her head. It was like all that was left of her was her consciousness and some of her senses, surrounded by eternal darkness.
"Nami Young," the voice called her for the third time.
"Y-Yes," she answered normally, unaware of the fact that she answered the question telepathically since she couldn't even feel her mouth let alone moving it.
"So you do agree your name is Nami Young, yes?" the voice asked.
"Y-Yeah, I am Nami Young. Who is asking?" Nami asked back.
"We are."
"That... That doesn't answer it."
"Because it's not important. Now, you are here because we need you to answer several questions. And we need you to be honest with your answers. No lies nor omitting anything. Full honest answer, or suffer the consequences," the voice explained.
"What? And why should I do what you say? Who are you? You haven't answer my question yet!"
"The faster you answer our question, the faster you can return to your world. I have to add that If you don't answer the questions quickly, you will suffer consequences."
"My world? I'm... What?" Nami asked, utterly confused with the whole affair.
The voice suddenly became stricken and said, "Answer. The. Question."
"O-Okay! Okay!" Nami said in panic. Whatever made the voice, it was clearly something Nami shouldn't be messing around.
"Good. First question. What is your deepest and greatest desire?"
"My desire?... To be freed from my parents."
"Second. Do you prefer following the current of life or you fight against it?"
"Follow it, I guess?"
"Third. Between your blood sibling and your close fellow peers, which would you save if the other must die?"
"W-What?! I-I can't possibly choose between them!" Nami shouted out.
The voice stayed silent, waiting for her answer.
"... My... brother," she reluctantly answered. It pain her immensely to choose her brother over her friends. She felt guilty after everything she went through with them. But it was her honest answer, and that's what the mysterious voice wanted.
"Fourth. One wish. If you are given one wish and you can hope for anything, what would you wish?"
"I... don't know."
Like before, the voice waited for her answer.
"World peace, I guess?" Nami said. Being suddenly asked these stuff, Nami was not prepare at all. She could barely come up with answers. Then again, the voice wanted her to answer honestly. So maybe the first thing that crossed her mind would be the right answer.
"Fifth. If we are to give you a power beyond your understanding, what would you do with it?"
"I want to control it and use it for good things."
"That's all. Thank you for your cooperation, Nami Young."
Nami immediately lost consciousness.
. . .
The next morning, Nami found herself floating above her bed levitated by a translucent surface.
