Five....four.....three....two
I slid a little down my chair in relief as I heard the bell vibrating in its radiance, never rejoiced on anything here below but this. Jess and I walked through the corridor to my locker. She leaned on the locker next to mine and watched me carefully keep my books as we discussed.
For a moment I thought she was on earth but I got it all wrong when she didn't answer a question I repeated to her twice.
"What are you staring at?" I questioned.
I certainly didn't think it was Nick this time around because she kept smiling at whatever she was looking at.
"Looks like you found favor in the eyes of the new guy, he can't stop peeking at you." She grinned.
I turned to see a handsome and perfectly structured human, he had short black hair and mesmerizing coffee brown eyes. For a guy of his age he had the perfect body build. He kept a couple things in his locker and shot a glance at us before walking away.
"So Audrey, isn't he HOT as the people say?" She whispered as she nudged me.
"Yeah " I replied still trying to fix the puzzle of her words in my head. " But there's no way that guy was peeking at me, you must be mistaken Jess."
" Audrina Hoodson, I'm old school when it comes to guys and I can define every look on their faces and the definition to this is a crush."
Crush.
She was definitely wrong about this.
I watched the girls stare at him as he walked past the corridor. There was no way this Greek god was peeking at me back there. Jess must have been mistaken, this guy was "crushing" on her instead.
My mind was so preoccupied with what Jess told me that I didn't even think of the alarm clock I had to buy after classes. But not just that disturbed my mind, my tummy did too, the earlier I reached home the better for me.
"Hey mom ,hey dad." They startled, and I could tell I was their topic of discussion from the way my mum stared at me with a worried look and a faint smile. " Anything the matter?" I questioned.
"Not at all Audrey." My dad said sipping his cup of dandelion tea while my mum stood up to her full height and walked towards me, the pretentious faint smile not leaving her sad face.
"What ever happens know we love you and will always be there for you OK?" I could see how watery her eyes were becoming I had never seen my mum in such a state. Whatsoever or Whosoever it was that made her look this way was already making itself my worst enemy. " just go freshen yourself up and be down for dinner."
Without offering a word I walked up to my room and got myself clean and tidy. I didn't know what they were hiding from me but I sure knew it was a devastating information.
I went downstairs as soon as I was done and had dinner. Some moments ago I was starving but right now I didn't feel like gulping a thing.
" Audrey." My dad voice uncovered me, that was when I realized I had been unconsciously stirring the already cold pumpkin soup in my bowl. " You haven't tasted your meal. don't like pumpin soup anymore?"
" No...I mean I do," I sighed "I'm sorry." I gulped a spoon full of soup.
" Is something wrong?" My mum asked from across the table.
" Not really." I faked a smile " I just wanted to go get something at the convenient store down town if u don't mind, and I'll like to go there on my...."
"Eli will take you there." My mum concluded.
I thought as much, they must have forgotten I'm eighteen, big enough to do things on my own. Immediately after dinner, I collected my sweater and made my way to the car, got into the back seat and Eli drove me to the nearest store, something was strange about this store but i couldnt figure it out. Was it the giant mascot standing in front of the exit door or the beautiful never seen lilac flowers in front of the glass wall... I stepped out of the car and quickly walked into the store making sure Eli doesn't get the chance to spot me amid the crowd when i finally sighted a ladybird colored clock, I didn't hesitate to reach out for it.
"Hey there." A voice almost made the clock slip off my fingers.
"Sorry didn't mean to startle you."
I was amazed at the figure standing in full height right in front of me , it was him, the new guy who kept peeking at Jess. I could feel my face heating up probably due the warmness radiating out of his body, his black T-shirt traced out his torso. Those coffee brown eyes got me going nuts. This boy was killing me slowly.
"You...you didn't it's my fault, wasn't carefully handling it." I let out a faint smile. He spent the next two minutes staring at me which made me feel so uncomfortable. Luckily my manners came just in time to get his burning eyes off me. " I'm Audrina, but you can call me Audrey."
"I'm Scott. Nice seeing you again."
Nice seeing you again. Nice seeing you again. I couldn't stop smiling at the words as they paraded in and out of my ears. He actually noticed me back there, Jess was probably right I was the person he was staring at, But why??...Were there a couple of untied strands of my hair or perhaps I wore a deodorant he didn't like. Anyways, let's wait for it he might just let me know whatever reason it was he stared at me.
"Same here."
I knew it was too late wanting to use this opportunity to know Scott a little more the moment I saw Eli walk towards me with a phone in his hands.
" Your parents require you presence right away miss."
Whattttt? Was this for real, I've been in here for barely ten minutes.
" Fine, I'll be in the car in a bit." I said, trying to shoo him away. Thankful of his understanding it was just Scott and I facing each other.
" Soo...guess I'll See you around Audrey." What a sweet and soothing voice he owned.
I couldn't stop smiling at the thought of this Greek god I met a while ago as Eli drove me home.
