What A Brokenheart Knows
Shizu walked out her highschool gates headed for home. It had been awhile since she got a day off from the bustling city and couldn't wait to go back to Maine. The trip was only a few hours away and she planned to take the whole day off packing. She had wished the school started their winter break earlier but that was only woshful thinking.
She took out her phone and dialed the number of her mother's cell. There was the dial tone but she didn't pick up. Raising a brow, she figured her mother was either asleep, at work, or busy cleaning the house and decided to call back later. She stuffed the metallic rectangle into her coat pockets until a something had collided into her from her backside. She fell forwad but managed to catch herself.
"And where are you going?\~" Her bestfriend asked in a sing-songy voice. Shizu laughed and wrapped her pwn arm around her waist.
"I gotta get home and start packing," She started. "Where's Yuri? I thought you two were going out together today?"
"Nah, he said he had basketball practice. Coach Limmer was upset about the whole Lockwood incident and made them do drills as punishment."
"Aw, poor Lisa May. Her boyfriend couldn't come." Alex cooed. Lisa pouted and played along.
"Woe is me. You have to make up for it!" Lisa yelled excitedly. Shizu shook her head.
"No no, I am not going out with your glutton ***. I need my money to go back to Maine. It's been awhile since I've seen my mother." Shizu said. Lisa shrugged her shoulders and removed her arm from Shizu's shoulders.
"Then make me some food at home? I can help you pack," Lisa suggested. "Plus, it'll be a while since I can see you so it'll be like our last sleepover."
"You make it sound like I'm never coming back." Shizy laughed. Lisa laughed along bumping into her arm.
"Yeah, you're leaving me alone here while you go fly to Maine. Don't forget to write me." She joked.
The two headed home. Lisa was Shizu's bestfriend throughout highschool. The reason why Shizu was going back to Maine was because her mother lived there. The two were originally from Japan, but her mother decided to make a living in America. They couldn't afford the both of them going or support the both of them so Shizu stayed in Japan for months at a time while her mother saved some money. She and her mother decided that Shizu would live there after graduating highschool and go to the U.S for college.
The two arrived at Shizu's apartment and slid their shoes off. The two walked in with nothing but socks and decided to start packing before making some food for themselves.
"How are we gonna hamg out when you graduate highschool? We're 5 months away from senior graduation before you stay there permanently." Lisa said. Shizu took off her coat and hanged on a wooden chair. She took her phone out and placed it on the dining table.
"I'll come visit. Weren't you planning to go to an art university in New York? It'll be a 7 hour drive but I ca stay over on breaks?" Shizu suggested. Lisa sighed.
"That's if I can even get in." She said. Shizu shook her head with a smile on her face.
"Stop it, you're top of the class and one of your paintings is in a museum. It'd be dumb of anyone to pass you over." Shizu said. Lisa nodded as if she had just stated a fact.
"I am pretty good." She said. Alex smiled and headed for the bathroom. She splashed some water on her hair to get the gel off. How she hated putting anything in her hair that made it stiff. Today was her club's picture day and she needed her hair to be nice and neat instead of looking like she just got out of bed. She wiped it dry and used wet wipes to remove her eyeliner and lipstick. She normally didn't use make-up but she preferred to look nice in pictures.
Shizu walked out of the bathroom to see Lisa working hard to get that food. If anything, Lisa was a hard worker for food. She loves it so much she uses food as her source of motivation. Usually, Shizu was the one who gave her the food.
"What do you want to eat?" Shizu asked. She walked into the kitchen and could hear Lisa squeal in ecxitement. Lisa ran out of her room and looked over the counter.
"Mm, since you're leaving tomorrow, you should make a feast." She suggested. Shizu nodded in consideration and looked inside her fridge. Still pretty full and she was going to be gone for 2 weeks so she didn't want to spoil the food.
"Ok," She said closing the door and putting her apron on. "Take home the leftovers."
Lisa jumped in excitment and ran back into Shizu's room to continue packing. Shizu sighed.
Time passed by quickly and soon Lisa had left with a bag full of food, heading home. Shizu had a luggage sitting by the couch with her outfit for tomorrow and her backpack. She sighed and laid on her bed. She was excited to see her mother and tomorrow she'd be there in her arms. Shizu smiled to herself and dozed off to sleep.
