Chapter 1: Meeting with intentions to leave

Domingo was shattered after his wife left him for another men. 

A year ago he pursued Sheila with pure intentions wanting to marry her. In his eyes she was a creature of radiance.  Sheila had always been an obedient wanting collective success for her and her family.  

Domingo and Sheila met in a job fair. Domingo was a Human Resource Manager while Sheila was an applicant. On the interview Domingo inquired professionally but was intrigued of Sheila’s beauty and charm. She arrived with a haggle of friends not seriously looking for jobs but eyeing some of the employers attending the job fair. 

Sheila, however, knowing that by next College Semester she will not afford her school fees, attended with intentions to be hired. Domingo was not the one she handed her resume to but he eagerly gave his hand to offer a conversation. Iris who was assisting with the recruitment was the one who gave the first inquiry. 

“Why are you interested on the post?” she asked to Sheila. 

“I need an occupation to support my finances.” She openly admitted. Domingo slyfully eves dropping on the interview. While attentive to other applicants.

“Are your parents not supporting you anymore?” Iris followed up. Domingo having a slight bothered mood hearing it. 

“My parents are unable to support me, they were the ones who gave the news of our incapacity to support my schooling.” Sheila remarked.   

The interview continued on with Sheila blatantly being honest on her status and skills and capacity in the end Iris gave her the result. 

“You do not have the skills we needed for the post, we would prefer someone experienced or has a broad knowledge of the business' processes. I am sorry dear but you may not adapt to the post if we hire you. You can try applying for scholarship. We sponsor some scholarship program. I will be happy to forward your credentials if you leave them.” Iris stated giving a smile at each rest of her statement. 

“Thank you for the opportunity Ms. Iris.” Sheila said with a mildly dismayed tone. She understands scholarship only lasts as long as academic standing lasts and she had been on same situations before some scholarship required active participations and they were hardly favorable for a less serious demeanor that she wanted to cherish before graduation. 

You may say Sheila was heavily influenced by the less elevated society she grew up in where agricultural learning is looked down to and a more prim and prissy office employee life is endeavored.  That is why she hoped to a achieve the sooner fulfillment of her whims.

She left the venue sighing in dismay mentioning to her friends that Ms. Iris looked like someone who is a work absorbed single and made exclaims about her unbranded over-all. It humored her friends, but at the far sides of their mind they thought her prideful.  

Sheila did not notice that Domingo was gazing at her seeking to be found of his interest to her. He savored in his mind how easy it would be for a financially independent men to make personal proposals to college girls like Sheila, so he could fulfill his building interests towards her. 

A wish granted. Sheila caught his mildly sincere glimpses to her. It made her mind wander to suburban illusory view of those high maintenance rich men wives she sees always on malls or spending their days inside gyms gossiping and networking. She thought she might fish a big catch with a business manager like Domingo.  

She sneaked back to the venue searching for Domingo hoping she can open a conversation of her dilemma with scholarship requirements and how she may not qualify and be passed over for the opportunity. She always thought herself of a predetermined effortless life of success. That her beauty alone can win her to great heights. 

She dodged and hid herself behind monoliths and ornaments to hide her uniform, her face and make sure that the attending faculty to the joint venture of this Job Fair will not see her trying to induce anyone of her woes to achieve her gains. 

She was able to trail on Domingo after he was done with a celebratory speech he gave for the presumable success of the event. While going down the steps he noticed her presence at the back of the piled monoblocs.  

A prey would feel glints of alarm nearing their assailants but this lamb came willingly to be feasted upon, who can blame a reckless hopeless romantic with his age it is not a mystery, a fresh face radiating can hide all the secrets in the world.
