Jessica 2005 ( the future)

Jess woke to the sound of her alarm beeping at 5.30am, she sighed and hit the snooze button pulling her duvet back over her head. She told herself five more minutes but a small child wandered in to the room and crawled in to the bed beside her snuggling up to her. She pulled the boy towards her and embraced him in a hug.

'morning sweetheart, did you sleep well.'

the boy nodded and clung to her harder.

'Don't go today Mommy, I want you to stay with me.'

'aw sweetheart, I have to go and see if I can get a job, so we can have money to do exciting things together. Plus you get to spend the day with Nanny and D'andy'

D'andy was the name the boy used for his grandfather because he couldn't yet pronounce the word properly yet. Jess kissed the top of her sons head and ruffled his jet black hair, his deep green eyes looked up at her and giggled.

'Okay Mommy. I'll be a good boy.'

she smiled back at her entire world, he was going to be turning 4 in June, she couldn't belive how fast the time had gone. She has managed to complete her Ist year of her degree while pregnant, after choosing to start her degree early instead of taking a gap year and had attended a local University. The following two years had been a struggle, but her parents had been fantastic and fully supported her through her pregnancy and looked after her son while she studied to get her degree.

She had moved in with Fiona a few months ago after she had returned from studying fashion in London. They had decided to rent a three bed flat in the town center, not too far away from her parents and close to where Fiona would be working. It was a small flat but perfect for what they needed. Fiona had taken to the role of god mother and honorable Aunt exceptionally well and would often take up some of the slack with out complaint.

It was Fiona who entered the bedroom next placing a cup of tea on the bed side table.

'Come on Lazy bones, today is the big day! you need to look smart for your first day in the graduate programme at White enterprises, you never know who might be there.'

'Ha ha Fi, you know that he is not in the country thats why I applied in the first place, otherwise I just wouldn't of even considered doing this, but the money will be so good if I actually pass the final interview. Then it will be the first day. The last thing I need is to run in to Dean White and his wife, he wouldn't remember me anyway.'

'Oh Jess, I never understood why you never told him that you where pregnant. Think about how much eaiser your life would of been, and Jake would know his father.'

'He made his choice, when he left me waiting for him, he chose what he wanted, which wasn't me or my son.'

'So what you're telling me is, if he had turned up that night, you would of told him you where pregnant.'

'Fiona it's in the past there is nothing, left to discuss. He chose her over me, he never loved me I was only a distraction for him, a toy, somthing to pass the time with another notch on his bed post. He made me belive I was special and he broke my heart.'

Jake began to stir next to Jess and Fiona offered to take him and get him ready for the day, while Jess prepared herself for the day ahead.

It was 8.30 by the time Jess had made it to the White group head office, it was situated in the building of the hotel she had been working in 5 years earlier, memories of her time there came flooding back to her. She held back the tears that she felt welling up and stopped herself before entering the building. She even thought she was hallucinating because she was sure that was Dean stood at the front desk, talking to the receptionist.

'What did Fiona put in the tea this morning' she thought to herself, she shook her head to clear her thoughts and looked in to the building again, there was just the receptionist. She found her resolve and walked through the door and aproached the reception desk.

' Hi I'm Jess Walker, I'm hear for the final graduation position interviews.'

The receptionist smiled, she was a pleasant looking lady and her name badge had Tiffany written on it.

'Hello Miss Walker, welcome to the White group, here is your visitors badge and swipe card for the executive elevator. you will find it located to the left and it is the last elevator at the end of the hallway, please go to floor 17. I hope that you do well with your interview.'

'Thankyou Tiffany, you have a nice day too.'

Jess took the visitors badge and the swipe card and made her way to the elevator. She thought it was strange that the graduate interviews where taking place in the executive offices at the top of the hotel building, they had always been in a conference room before on the ground floor. She assumed it was because it was the final round of interviews, that it was some sort of scare tactic. She entered the elevator and swiped the card and pressed the button for floor 17. She felt a little amused riding in the executive elevator, it had been the penthouse elevator the summer she had worked there, it was strange how things changed so quickly in the hotel business, and odd that the penthouse suite was now an exclusive office space for the White group. The elevator door binged as it opened at its destination, Jess stepped off the elevator to be met by another receptionist sat at an opulent desk and a much more luxurious waiting area than the ground floor foyer.

This receptionist was a little more surly than the peppy Tiffany and much more stuck up. Jess held out her hand,

'Hi I'm Jessica Walker, I am here for the graduate interview.'

the surly receptionist indicated to a seat and picked up the phone,

'Sir, Miss Walker has arrived, would you like me to send her in?' The receptionists voice sounded sacrine when talking to her boss on the end of the line. Jessica noticed how the womans demeanor also changed. She was an attractive woman, dressed smartly in a business suit, her nails where perfectly manicured but when speaking to her boss her face lit up, looked like miss perfect had a crush on her boss. The receptionist hung up the phone and turned to Jessica whom had taken the seat offered to her,

'Mr White, has asked me to personally escort you to his office. please follow me.' the receptionist indicated with her hands that Jess should follow her.

'Sorry but excuse me for asking is it normal for Mr White to meet the graduate programme interviewees, I though it would just be a lower level executive that would deal with ...' the secretary cut in in a sharp no nonsense tone, completely different from her phone voice.

'you are getting to meet The Mr White, you should be grateful that he is even bothered to speak to a lower level employee such as yourself, he never usually shows an interest in anyone on the graduate programme. You must be special, though personally I don't see why.'

Well what a bitch, thought Jess, though she was beginning to feel panic rising in her chest. Had Gordon White discovered that she had given birth to his grandchild, would he take Jake away from her and make him live with Dean and that woman? No it couldn't be that no one new of Jake's true parentage except Fiona. She hadn't even put Deans name on the birth Certificate, she had registered it as unknown.

The Secretary opened an office door and showed Jess inside. She was faced with the back of a leather office chair, so she pulled all the courage from the depths of her mind and introduced herself. she was cut short by a voice that cut her to her very core.

'Hello Jess, nice to see you again.'
