My wish upon a star

Time passed so easily with Alfie, it was like it didn’t exist at all. For all I knew we was suddenly in the last couple of months before we took our college exams. I was so happy to finally be able go to university and live with Alfie.

We had planned to move in together when we graduated. We had looked at apartments and saved up. We would only be renting but it was our first place. I was so excited. We would move to a university we would both be going to but not only that but I would be able to spend it with my love. Not only that but my birthday was coming up.

I would finally be 18 years old. Alfie had already turned 18. He was only a month older than me but he would never forget it, he would tease and call me his baby. Thought I wouldn’t mind, I loved his stupid teases.

It was a week before we had our first final exam week and I was rather nervous, Alfie suggested that we go for a date to help us calm down and relax for a while. He said he would plan everything so he told me to look good and dress up. I didn’t know how much he wanted me to dress up so I put on my baby blue shirt and black pants and put the designer belt that he had brought me for my 17th. I was truly the luckiest man alive. I had often dreamed of the day I would marry Alfie.

I felt rather silly admitting this to myself but one time I could have sworn I had seen a shooting star and I scrunched up my nose and crossed my fingers and wished that Alfie would marry me. He was everything I need and more. I laughed at myself thinking back to that time.

I styled my hair and tied my shoes and waited for his text to pick me up in his car. I was still jealous that he could drive and I was still learning but I didn’t mind the fact that he would always give me lifts. I called him my PersonalChauffer.

I heard the honk of his car and came outside. He stood there in his suit and shirt that he had used when he attended an interview for Bowstand Enterprises, the top business to enter right now. He was so smart that he got an internship and was working his way through the ranks. I was in complete awe of him. I relented because I helped him choose the suit.

I wasn’t as business associated, I wanted to work as a designer. I loved shoes I vowed that I would make something of myself one day and we could rule our worlds together.

As I walked over to him he wolf whistled and held my hand. Kissing it lightly he opened the door and letting me sit in the passenger seat.

“Thank you” I said climbing in.

When he sat in the car I could smell his strong cologne, I lent over his shoulder taking a deep smell of his cologne and kissed his cheek. He blushed and turned to kiss me directly in the lips.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“You will have to wait. It’s a surprise!” He said mysteriously.

“Fine”

We sat enjoying the music as we travelled in the car together. He pulled up the the beach, the same one that we would always come to. It was nothing special I thought. I became curious as to why he had asked me to dress up when we was going to the beach. We got out of the car and walked to the small pavement that was a pathway to the beach. Holding hands we walked down it. We had reached the enterance and the sand. My shoes will be ruined if I walk on the sand, I thought. Then, almost as if he read my mind Alfie picked me up in his arms smiling and carried me down to what I could now see was a small table surrounded by candles.

My eyes teared up as we walked closer and closer, there was a small Plate of food in the middle with all my favourite seaters and a bottle of champagne in some ice.

“Are we celebrating something?” I asked confused.

“Hopefully” he said as he sat me down on the chair. “You know that you mean absolutely everything to me” he begun. “Since I first met you, you have been able to always make me smile. I have never laughed and cried with someone as much as when I am with you” he said as I began to tear up by his cute words. “Even now you sit here crying, when I’m trying to be nice” he said laughing and wiping a small tear away from my cheek.

“Shhh” i said smiling “they are tears of happiness, because I am always happy with you so I am usually crying” I said laughing with him.

“Anyway, from the first time I held you in my arms I new I wanted to protect you for the rest of my life and hold your hand when you don’t feel well. Really I just want to never let you go.” He said now tearing up himself “so I need to ask you this” he said dropping to his knees and pulled out his ring. “You mean absolutely everything to me, and I don’t want to spend another day without you wearing this symbol of love” he said showing me the ring closer.

“Marry me, Alfie. Make me the happiest man alive, please ?”

Tears fell down my face and I fell to join him on his knees.

“Yes! Yes! Yes!” He said then sliding the ring on my finger and embracing me in a kiss. “I love you so much Alfie”

We ate our dessert and watched the sun set just like the first time we met. Once it was dark again we stared at the night sky, laying on Alfie’s chest I felt so at peace.

“Baby. Cmon I have one more surprise” Alfie said to me.

We collected our stuff carrying it to the car and he drove to my house. When we eneyeted there was crowds of people and massive banners, we was showered in party poppers and flower petals. People took photos of us entering. The sign said

‘Congratulations Jason and Alfie’

I looked at him surprised but Alfie was standing there extremely pleased with himself.

“Did you do this?” I asked too surprised.

“Of course I did, I’m just glad you said yes” he said laughing to me.

“You are sneaky. I will have to keep my eye on you” I said laughing.

“Well now you will have forever” Alfie said grabbing my hand and kissing it lightly.

Everyone awed at his sweet motion, I blushed and kissed him sweetly. The night continued and the celebration didn’t end until the early morning. People had been drinking and playing games. The left over ones had sat in a circle around the fireplace telling stories of me and Alfie. All our family and friends were there to celebrate this beautiful moment. Just when I had thought that my life couldn’t have got any better he had somehow made it more so.

I sat down on Alfie’s lap, taking the beer from his hands and taking a swig.

“Hey babe that’s mine.” He protested.

“Well what’s mine is yours” I said laughing.

“You are definitely right” he said with a cheeky grin on his face. It was the smile that excited me but also gravely scared me.

What was he thinking, I thought.

“Well me and my future husband will be going to bed, so don’t mind us!” He said scooping me in his arms and carrying me up to bed.

“Get a room!” My mum shouted as she giggled and we went up the stairs.

I laid in my bed surrounded by Alfie’s long arms that stuck around me. He kissed my forehead and played with my hair as we quietly listened to the early chirping of the birds outside. From my window we could even see the sun beginning to rise.

“Is it really that early?” I said turning to Alfie.

“Yes. So you have officially been engaged for me for a whole day” he said smiling.

I looked down at my ring and only noticed now the size of the diamond.

“Alfie this must have cause a fortune” I said sitting bolt upright.

“What are you gonna make me take it back?” He joked.

“But how?” Is till said confused.

“That is for me to know and for you to just be with me forever” he said pulling me into a long and passionate kiss.

“I will. For as long as we both will live” I relied happily.

“I will still love you, even after death” Alfie said kissing me once more.

Afterwards we both fell asleep in each other’s arms, and it was the best night sleep ever.
